As Louis woke up from his sleep he felt incredibly rested for the first time since entering the house. He lay in bed with his eyes closed, hearing the odd snore or voice from the living room and he smiled to the ceiling.
Wondering when the alarm was due to go off, he opened his eyes and squinted at the unexpected brightness in the room. It was far brighter than it had been any other morning and he briefly wondered if he'd slept through the alarm, although he was pretty sure that was not possible.
As he looked about the room he noticed that they were mostly all empty and he stretched his back before sitting up in the bed. Niall was still asleep beside him but Harry wasn't in the bed. Zayn, Perrie, Jesy and James were all still asleep in their respected beds and Louis yawned into the room before trying to edge his way off the bed.
Silently as he could he made his way out of the bedroom and into the living room. Mary and Caroline were laughing at the sofas while Ben was getting himself breakfast. Louis sent him a wave and got a smile in return.
"Notice the new item?" Ben said over to him and Louis raised an eyebrow before scanning the room. Finally he realised what was different and his face lit up, it was about time. For there in the kitchen behind Ben stood a big lovely fridge.
"About time!" He said. "Is there anything in it?"
"Nah, just the milk and butter." Ben said. "I suppose when the new groceries are added more fridge friendly stuff will be bought." Louis nodded in agreement and gave the fridge another once over.
"I've never been happier to see a fridge. It's ridiculous," He laughed and Ben returned it.
"I know the feeling mate," He said before moving to join Mary and Caroline. Louis continued further into the room and looked into the garden. Jade, Leigh-anne and Liam were all in the pool and he noticed Taylor in the garden pacing along the grass.
Guilt his Louis like a punch to the gut as he realised that today was eviction day and either Taylor, Ben or Tom were going today and it was his fault. He looked about the living room and garden for Harry but he wasn't there. Tom and the quiet James were sat at the smoking area and he decided to stay away from them as he walked outside. He was going to go to the pool but last minute he decided to check Taylor was okay.
"Hey," He said walking over to her. She looked at him with a slightly shocked look but it left quite quickly.
"Hi," She said and Louis sat on a flowerpot near her.
"I know i'm probably the last person you want to see right now," He said honestly and she gave a slight laugh as she moved to sit on a flower pot opposite him, "But are you alright?"
"I'm a bit nervous," She said and Louis nodded in understanding. "Look, i get it alright." She said with a sigh. "You had to nominate someone and we didn't hit it off immediately in fact I know I've been a bit, pushy to make friends and stuff. It's just different being in a place like this. I'm sorry i've been quite so pissed at you."
"Don't appologise. It's a shitty situation, it's the first week and the last thing you want is to know you're up for nomination. So i'm sorry for that." She sent him a smile and they both sighed.
"You shouldn't feel too nervous, after all you're up against Tom," Louis said, and Taylor laughed slightly. "He's an arsehole and if you go instead of him i'll have some stern words with the house to get you swapped."
"Like that would work," She said they both looked over at Tom and shook their heads. "It should be an obvious vote really, but then again, people love a bit of drama."
"That's true." Louis hummed. "Hopefully rather than the violent style of drama he brings to the house, they'll want a bit more lovey dovey drama that Zayn and Perrie will be bringing to the house."
"Please," Taylor snorted, "I've seen more lovey dovey between you and Harry than those two. Sure, they're cute but you two act like you've been married for five years." She already looked more relaxed and Louis chuckled.
"There will be no Challenge today," The house said loudly, they both jumped but as the words set in he couldn't help but grin as he thought about having a day off. If every eviction day was like this at least they'd all be able to have at least one day to lay in.
He was about to look back to Taylor when he spotted Perrie, she had obviously woken up and was walking over to him, a box of what appeared to be cosmetics in her hand.
"You up for being a mannequin for me?" She asked. "Since it's a day off, might as well treat ourselves."
"Yeah course." He nodded. "Taylor, you want to take your mind off tonight by getting primmed up and pampoured?" He asked and Perrie smiled and looked at her welcomingly. Taylor grinned and looked quite happy for once.
"Is that a trick question?" She asked and they stood up and walked with Perrie to the bathroom. It was here Louis finally found out where Harry had been hiding. He was in the shower, his hair falling into his eyes and the water running over his back as he swayed his hips to a song he was humming. Louis had to look away and he got comfy with the girls as they got their nail polishes out listening to the soothing hum filling the room.
Louis looked through the colours as Perrie started to paint Taylors nails red and he picked up a minty green color. Once he'd picked it up, Harry had got out of the shower and was looking down above him at the nail varnishes, his towel wrapped around his waist. Louis was getting dripped on and he looked up at Harry with an eyebrow raised.
"You're dripping on me, Styles." He said.
"Careful Harry, you're getting him all wet and bothered." Perrie smirked looking up from painting Taylors nails. Harry grinned and moved to sit down beside Louis.
"That was the idea," He winked over exaguratedly before looking at the colours. "Can you do my nails too?"
"Of course." Perrie laughed and concentrated again on Taylors nails. Harry looked at all of the colours and Louis picked up a corally orange that he thought would suit Harry and handed it to him. Harrys eyes shone and he grinned.
"I love orange." He said and Louis grinned. "What colour are you getting?"
"This one," Louis replied showing Harry who nodded looking impressed with his choice.
"It'll bring out your eyes." He nodded and Perrie turned to them.
"Who's next?"
"Do Harrys," Louis said leaning against the wall and smiling as Harry looked excited as Perrie took the colour from him. Taylor was shaking her nails and blowing on them and Louis took one of her hands to look at the colour.
"Looks good." He said. He watched as Harry got his done and Leigh-Anne and Jesy joined the group. The girls laughed about as Louis got his nails done and as they dried he watched the smiles on everyones faces. Taylor now looked happy and he was glad to see she didn't look so nervous anymore. Harry had decided to go around the house showing off his nails to everyone and Louis found it adorable.
"Careful, Lou." Perrie said smirking as they made their way out of the bathroom, all now adorned with brightly coloured nails. "Someone may pick up on your fond."
"Like you're one to talk." Louis said nudging her arm. "What time did you and Zayn come in?"
"Two," She grinned and Louis waggled his eyebrows at her. She nudged his arm again and wondered off to the sofa where Harry was showing Niall his nails. Louis watched as Tom sneered at him as he walked into the house and had to stop himself rounding on him. Instead he let Tom past and walked over to the sofas with the others.
They took the day to relax and have a laugh together and Louis felt at home in the group even if they were being watched continuously and their lives were anything but private. He was having fun and that's all that really mattered at the end of the day. He knew he wouldn't win but he felt like he was winning by having met most of the people in the house.
"Toms asleep," Jade said walking into the room and everyone turned to look at her.
"And?" Liam asked.
"Well didn't you see the way he was eyeing all of our nails?" She asked.
"What colour do you have in mind?" Louis asked understanding where she was heading immediately. She grinned and held up a hot pink colour and everyone slowly grinned.
"Come on," Harry said jumping up and pulling Louis with him. Perrie and Jesy joined them and the five of them made their way into the bedroom and over to where Tom was starfished out on his bed. Perrie held her finger to her lips as Harry giggled and Louis put his hand over Harrys mouth as they watched Perrie paint his nails so cautiously.
Luckily for them he didn't wake up as she moved to the other hand.
"Wait, do a rainbow," Louis whispered. "He seems to be pretty vocal about all things gay." He said and Jesy snorted and walked to where hers and Perries stuff was. She came back with each of the colours and Perrie carefully did his nails in each of the rainbow colours.
Once Perrie was done, she hid the nail polishes and they all made their way back to the living room. Jade and Niall were cooking the dinner, and Louis decided he liked how they'd formed a sort of rota of cooking even though none of them had discussed it. They were mostly all doing their part and it felt easy.
Just when Taylor was laying the table, a shout sounded from the bedroom and Tom came flying into the room in a rage.
"Who did this?" He said with his jaw tensed and his fingers raised high. Everyone snickered.
"Not sure, everyones been pulling their weight in here," James said. "Maybe it was your subconscious wanting to tell you something."
At this everyone cracked up and Louis had to bury his face into a cupboard as he pretended to look for plates he was already holding.
"You're all fucking arseholes." He said and Louis looked out of the cupboard to see him walk out into the garden.
"He's acting like we just permanently tattooed 'cunt' onto his face," Niall said from the pasta pot.
"You're going to be so screwed tonight when they tell us not to swear." Ben said to Niall as he watched on in humour. Louis agreed with that and as he put the plates down on the side he turned to the others.
"How about a bet. Whoever guesses the amount of swear words he says in the live broadcast wins." He said
"Wins what?" Liam asked.
"How about an extra portion of whatever he or she wants?" Jesy replied. everyone was silent before they all nodded and began saying numbers.
"We need to write this down." Zayn said looking for something to write on and with. Finally he came back with one of the whiteboards and a marker and began writing initials down. Everyone gave their guess and the board was placed beside the new fridge. Everyone then began to help themselves to pasta and sat around the table.
It was quite casual but knowing one of them was going to be leaving did bring the mood down a little. Taylor picked at her food for the most part and Ben stayed silent most of the time too. Tom was still sulking in the garden and no one seemed to want to tell him dinner was ready. Louis tried not to feel too guilty and as they finished and Louis and Harry cleared away the mess in the kitchen, the house called them through to the sofas and Louis stomach dropped.
