“Kaitlin get up now!” I heard someone practically scream in my face, I groaned and rolled over in my bed, when I opened my eyes I was met by Christine’s face and jumped a little “Alright, alright I’m up I’m up” I sighed and sat up in bed, Christine smiled and nodded before walking out the room, I looked at the clock to see it was 7 o’clock in the morning. I sighed and got out of my warm and cosy bed before going into the bathroom, I quickly washed then washed my hair before getting ready for a long day at school. Once I was dressed and fed I got into the car and drove into school with Christine. Once we were in the school gates I said see you to Christine and went over to where Kyle was stood at the bottom of the steps “Hey” I ran over and kissed him quick before putting my hand in his and walking into the school building. “Hiya!” Imogen exclaimed when she saw us coming over, she looked down at us holding hands then smiled at me and pulled me into a hug “Glad you’re over Mr Reid” she whispered to me and I hugged her back, a fake smile now on my face as we pulled apart and went down the corridor to form.
“Morning sir” I said in a sing song voice to Mr Lowsley as me, Kyle and Imogen walked through the door, he laughed at me a little “Someone’s happy today” he said and smiled again as I sat down at a table with Kyle and Imogen. “Ooh I am Mr Lowsley” I said and I watched him laughed again as I turned to Kyle and started talking to him about something. “Have you heard from Dynasty this morning?” I whispered to Imogen as Mr Lowsley did the register, she shook her head and I said me neither before listening to my form tutor. “Sir” I shouted out once Mr Lowsley had finished talking and he spun round to face me, he raised his eyebrow urging me to continue “How long do the police interview things take?” I asked and I watched him as he thought for a moment “You know Kaitlin, I don’t actually know but I’m sure Dynasty will get in touch when she’s out” he said and smiled before going back behind his desk, I just nodded and carried on talking with Imogen and Kyle until the bell went for first period. When the bell went the only bit of moving I did was to the opposite side of the table with Kyle, we had English first with Mr Lowsley and we had the great fortune of Gabriella on our table, next to Imogen. Gabriella wasn’t in our form so I glared at her as she walked in the door and sat down “Careful Kaitlin if you keep making that face it’ll stay like it permanently” she said as she got her stuff out her bag, I looked at Kyle but he shook his head no, he knew I just wanted to say something back but he also didn’t want me to get into trouble so he just grabbed my hand under the table and squeezed it lightly causing me to smile. We were made to go into pair and discuss the book we were reading, I was about to say something to Kyle when I heard Imogen’s phone go off “Is that Dynasty?” I asked and she nodded, showing me the text “We’re supposed to be a pair meaning you’re not meant to be texting too” Gabriella said, saying the texting bit louder so Mr Lowsley could hear, Imogen explained that it was Dynasty and he even told Imogen to wish Dynasty good luck from him too.
English went quite quickly really and I was soon parting ways with Kyle and going to my art classroom although I was just getting my stuff out when Christine came in, I smiled at her and she smiled back “Erm can I borrow Kaitlin please” Christine said to my teacher who nodded and I walked out the classroom. “What’s this about?” I asked but Christine didn’t answer me as we walked down the corridor going towards the auditorium, when we entered I walked over to where Imogen and Rhiannon were sat “What’s this about?” I whispered to Imogen and she just shrugged before we turned back to the front where Christine and Miss Boston were stood. “This morning, we confiscated a mobile phone from another pupil. His phone had indecent images on it and I’m afraid all of you have been identified in those images” Christine said and my eyes widened a little in shock, I looked at Rhiannon when she whispered she knew who it was but I didn’t say anything since Christine started talking again “Some of you probably know who this person is – I would appreciate your discretion in keeping his identity confidential” Christine said and I looked at Imogen and Rhiannon in shock “So he took indecent pictures of us and we’re not even allowed to know who ‘he’ is?!” I snapped, I tried to shout but I was so angry I wanted to hit something, preferably the person who took these pictures. “How many of these indecent pictures did he even take?!” Imogen shouted out after me, obviously just as angry. I watched as Christine and Miss Boston exchanged looks before Christine concluded with “A lot” which angered me even more since we weren’t even allowed to know who this sick bastard was. “He’s violated our rights. What are you going to do about it?” Gabriella asked, she seemed to be the calmer out of us all since she didn’t shout, just spoke in her normal tone and volume. “I will be contacting your parents and guardians, the police, if necessary and we will stamp it out. Even if it means a complete ban on mobile phones in school” Christine said to us all, I just sat and stared at her before turning to Imogen and Rhiannon again. “Why can’t you just expel the boy?” I said to Christine and she looked at me and sighed a little “Don’t worry about anything, the boy in question will be severely punished. Myself and Miss Boston will be around if anyone would like to talk to us and pastoral care will be fully staffed” Christine said just as the bell went and we were told to go to break, I watched as Christine and Miss Boston walked out the auditorium before turning to Rhiannon urging her to reveal who it was “Darren Hughes”
I didn’t wait for Imogen or Rhiannon I just walked straight out the auditorium and went over to meet Kyle who was stood outside my art classroom apparently confused since I wasn’t in there “Hey” I said and he jumped a little before turning around, I watched a smile spread across his face as I hugged him tightly and explained to him what had happened. “I swear to god if I ever meet this boy I’ll fucking kill him” Kyle said once I’d told him about what Darren did although I kept the name out of it, I put my hands on his arms and looked him in the eye “Look at me, Christine is sorting it out. You don’t need to get worked up over this” I said to him, he just looked at me for a second “I don’t want no twat going round doing that to you” he said and I sighed a little, rubbing my hand up his arm and smiling a little bit “And I don’t want you getting into trouble again” I said and pecked his lips with a kiss before tangling my hand in his and walking him through the school like he didn’t know where he was going. After break both me and Kyle had a free so when the bell went for third period I sat down at a computer in the library, we were working on an English essay together for Mr Lowsley although we did mess about a little as well. It was about 10 minutes before the end of the period and we’d nearly finished the essay when I looked up and outside the door to see Dynasty standing outside “Won’t be a second” I said and got up from my seat, I kissed Kyle’s cheeks before rushing out the library door then out the front doors. “Dyn” I shouted and she turned around, a smiling creeping on her face. I ran over and hugged her tight, I didn’t even notice Barry stood there until I pulled away and looked behind Dynasty. “Oh hi” I said to him and he just nodded at me, I watched him for a second before looking at the white van beside us “What’s erm what’s this?” I said and nodded the vehicle, Barry looked at it then at me, smiling. “The new job I have lined up” he said and leant against the van and I raised an eyebrow before laughing a little. I was about to say something when the bell went behind us and I saw Kyle come outside, I smiled and kissed him quickly once he was here. “What’s ‘e doin’ ‘ere?” Kyle asked nodding at Barry, I looked between Kyle and Barry and sighed, I’d almost forgotten what happened the last time Barry and Kyle met. “Dropping off my sister, mate. What are YOU doing here?” Barry snapped and stood up from the van, I looked up at Barry and raised an eyebrow before putting my hand on his chest and pushing him back “Leave him alone” I said to Barry and kept my eyes on him, he smirked a little then held up his hands “Whatever, if you wanna be with a dick like him” Barry said and raised an eyebrow, a smile still plastered on his face. I walked up to him and he put his hands down looking at me “Better than a cunt like you” I said then kneed him between the legs, I smiled a little as he keeled over in pain before putting my hand in Kyle’s and walking away with him.
Me and Kyle walked back up the steps and went through the school doors, I quickly looked back to see Gabriella stood talking to Barry but I wasn’t interested so I walked with Kyle to the canteen to get something to eat. “What can I get you love?” Mrs Barry asked and I pointed to what I wanted then waited for Kyle “Oh Carol, Barry and Dynasty are outside” I said to my best friend’s mother, she smiled and nodded and served someone else as me and Kyle sat down to eat. We were just about finished when Dynasty walked through the doors, I let her talk to her mum first before I grabbed my bag and ran out after her, leaving Kyle alone in the canteen. “Dyn” I shouted and ran after her, she stopped and turned around giving me a weak smile, I saw Imogen come over and waited a second before asking her how it went. Dynasty sighed a little before explaining everything that had happened and I pulled her into a hug, Imogen did the same and we stood together for a few seconds just hugging before we pulled apart and walked off together. I just stood there as Mr Lowsley stopped us, I wasn’t really listening I was thinking about other things like what Darren had done and didn’t even realise Dynasty and Imogen had gone until I felt Kyle’s hands on my waist “You can only stand so long on your own without looking like a twat” he whispered and kissed my neck before pulling me backwards and letting me jump on his back.
I stayed with Kyle for the rest of lunch until I saw Dynasty going out the doors “I’ll catch up” I said to Kyle when the bell went, he nodded and went off to history as I ran after Dynasty “Hey! Dyn!” I shouted and she turned around, she looked at me but grabbed my arm and pulled me away when I got close enough. Once we were out of the school gates she dropped my arm and told me we were going to the docks, I just nodded and followed her not saying a word. We’d been walking through the docks for about 5 minutes when we heard Barry’s voice from somewhere, we saw him walk out the large door and ran behind a metal post so he didn’t see us, I couldn’t hear properly what he was saying on the phone, I only heard the odd word here and there. We waited for a couple of minutes until Barry had walked away before we got up from the floor and walked into where Barry had just been, he looked around for a bit I honestly had no idea what we were supposed to be looking for but I jumped when something banged on the inside of Barry’s van. Me and Dynasty looked at each other before walking over, we put our bags down on the floor before opening the back of the white van to see about 15 people sat inside. “Oh my god, what the fuck” I gasped and put my hand to my mouth, I looked at Dynasty and let my eyes widen a little before looking back at the people sitting in the van. I watched as Dynasty tried to get the people out of the van, I just stood there and watched until I turned around and saw Barry walking inside “Dynasty! Dynasty! DYN!” I shouted at her and she stopped trying to pull the women out to turn around, Barry was stood there staring at us, obviously furious, with a 24 pack of water bottles. I watched as Barry closed the doors again then carried on watching as Dynasty and Barry argued about it, they practically forgot I was there to be honest. After a few minutes of them arguing, Barry was about to get in the van so Dynasty turned to me. I sighed and walked over, “Barry please don’t do this” I said to him, he just looked at me then over at Dynasty “I have to” he whispered and put his hand on my cheek, I looked at him, studying his face as a small tear fell from my eye. “No you don’t, Barry, please. I’m begging you if you don’t listen to Dyn please just listen to me, I can’t lose you” I whispered to him and I watched him smile a little as he wipe away the tears that started to fall “You have Kyle you don’t need me but just remember that I love you and I always will, I care about you so much and I’ll never forgive myself for what I did to you. I love you so much” Barry said and he kissed my forehead before climbing into the van. “Barry” I said through sobs, he just looked at me before turning the key in the ignition and driving away. Me and Dynasty walked out and watched him drive away “You have to call the police” I said to her and looked at my best friend, she nodded and pulled her phone out, dialling 999.
I didn’t walk with Dynasty, she went back to school and I went the opposite way back home. I stopped at the take away and got me and Christine a pizza each before heading back “Christine?” I shouted when I walked in through the door but there was no answer “Christine” no answer “Christine are you home?” no answer, I sighed and put the pizzas on the side before pulling out my phone, I dialled her number and waited for her to pick up but it kept ringing. I let it go to voicemail before ending the call sending her a text Hey where are you? I got take away on way home, need to talk to you about something xx I then picked up my pizza and went into the living room, putting on My Mad Fat Diary. About an hour later Christine still hadn’t returned or answered my texts so I decided to call Connor “Hey Kait what’s up?” he said once he’d picked up the phone “Hey Conn, this is gonna sound really daft but do you know where Christine is? I’ve been home for like well over an hour and she isn’t here or answering her texts” I said to him, there was a few seconds of silence before Connor spoke again “Erm no she called me earlier but I was busy but she keeps some of the teachers numbers in the cupboard above the sink so maybe call one of them, they might know” Connor told me, I thanked him and hung up the phone before going over to the cupboard, as Connor had said on the inside of the cupboard door there was a piece of paper full of names and numbers. I scanned down until I found Mr Lowsley’s and dialled it into the house phone “Hello” his voice came through after about the third ring “Hi Mr Lowsley it’s Kaitlin erm I was just wondering if you knew where Christine was? She’s not at home or answering her texts” I told him and I heard sigh on the other end before he said he didn’t and I hung up the phone. I didn’t bother calling anyone else since there was something I needed to do, I walked up the stairs and went into the bathroom, I’d hidden it this morning so I opened the cupboard door and pulled out the box from the back. I took a deep breath before pulling out the pregnancy test “Here goes nothing” I said before pissing on the stick, I quickly pulled my pyjama bottoms and put the test on the side, waiting. It was probably the longest 5 minutes of my life but eventually it passed and I looked at the test, my face practically dropped when I saw the double line.
