Harper is going to start therapy, and mom and dad have been on edge. It has been another week of school and me and Jess are growing closer. "Hey mom, Can I go to Jess's house?"
She bit her lip "I-I don't know." She had been very on edge now. "Mom, I'm not Harper..."
"I know that baby..." then dad walked in. "Dad, a little help please?" I begged. "Bebé solo déjalo, ella estará bien." He sighed, (baby just leave it, she will be fine)
I smiled and hugged him "thanks daddy!" Then Demi sighed, "be home in 4 hours!" She yelled as I ran out of the house and the few blocks to his house. He lives with his foster mom well soon to be mom because he is going to get adopted. Well anyways, he lives with his foster mom, and aunt, and the moms bestfriend and then her daughter and 2 other boys. It's crazy, "Hi Mrs. Fuller." I smiled "Hey darling! Jess is upstairs." She smiled opening the door and letting me in "thank you." I took off my shoes and ran up the stairs "Jess?" I called out "my room."
I went into his room "heyo!" I smiled. "Hey smiley!"
"What happened to your room?" I asked looking the mess. "Oh- nothing."
"Wanna play Mario kart?" I asked, "sure." We sat on his bed and began playing Mario kart. "Your so bad!" I laughed. "Take that back!" He called out. "No way!"
At first I thought he was joking but all of a sudden it changed. He grabbed my wrist yanking the remote out of it "ow! Jess! That hurts!" I cried, hen pulled my wrist tighter and pulled me closer to him. "Take.it.back."
"Alright I'm sorry!"
He let go, and I was terrified. "Listen, Hallie. I'm sorry. I-I have a mental illness and-" I softly smiled "its okay, it's not your fault." He then gave me a hug, we then began playing Mario kart again and then I looked at my phone "oh-hey I got to go. My mom said I needed to be home 5 see you tomorrow?" I asked. "Yeah sure." We hugged again and I left I looked down at my wrist and it was bruising and red. I was terrified in that moment, but it's not his fault. Once I arrived home I smelled burning pizza. "What the heck?" I ran into the kitchen and saw black smoke coming from the oven. "Oh my gosh!" I threw open the oven and flames came out, "Mom! Dad!" I yelled.
I grabbed the fire extinguisher and put out the fire as Demi came running down the stairs. "Oops.." she smirked, I looked at the mess and giggled. "You forgot about the pizza?"
Her soaking wet hair dripped on the floor and she held the white towel to her body. "I told Harper to take it out when the timer went off."
"Where is she now?" I asked, Demi looked around "I don't know. Bed room maybe, we can go out for food after I get dressed."
I nodded and then her phone went off as she was turning around to walk back to her room. "Oh- can you hand that to me?"
I grabbed the phone and handed it to her "what-what the fuck happened to your wrist?" She grabbed my wrist with her other hand rotating it, "me and Jess played red rover with his foster siblings." I lied. She looked at me "promise?"
Since I never lied this was easy "I promise." I looked at her straight in the eyes and she nodded "okay, we'll go upstairs and get Harper we are going out to get food." I nodded and went upstairs along side Demi. She went into her room and I went to harpers, "Harper?" I asked knocking on the door. "W-what?" She asked. Her voice sounded hoarse, "are you crying?" I asked opening her door, "no! Get out!" She snapped slamming her door in my face "woah! Chill! Mom just wanted me to tell you we are going out to eat chill!" I snapped back,

We pulled up to an Italian restaurant, "moms there's paparazzi." I said, I turned to Harper who is in the backseat on her phone. "We can just run in."
We covered our faces and ran in and got a booth, I got a salad, Demi got spaghetti and so did harper. "Your the only person I know who goes to an Italian restaurant and gets a salad." Harper laughs, "whatever, can we go home already? I have school tomorrow." I said agitated, "alright, I'll pay the check."

Then next day came around and I got dressed and my wrists were now a deep purple, reddish color.

"Don't you look cute." Demi smiled, "thanks mom. I'm gonna catch the bus!"
Before I could run off she grabbed my wrist "um, ow!" I called out, "oh-yeah sorry. I just wanted to say you don't need makeup. Your gorgeous without it." She smiled, her perfect white teeth showed and I thanked her and ran out. "Hey girls!" I smiled, "hey cutie!"
Then we were on our way to school. I got off the bus and met up with Jess and Lilly. "What are those flowers for?" I asked Jess. "They are for you, I'm really really sorry about yesterday."
I smiled and took the flowers "it's fine honestly." The bell rang "I better get to class they are announcing the nominees for queen king for spring formal dance." I smiled, before I started walking away he grabbed my arm "Hallie- about the dance." I looked at him "hm?"
"Do you want to go to the spring formal with me?"
I looked at Lilly and she smiled and gave me a thumbs up. "Yes-sure! I'll go with you." He nodded then second bell rang "I really gotta go, text me more details for Friday!"
Then I ran to class, "Lovato your late." The teacher called out. "Um- it's Hallie." I corrected the teacher and I took a seat next to Tiffany. Then the class smirked,
"Goooood morning Students and faculty! I hope everyone had a good and safe weekend..."
The principal kept talking about announcements, and came to a closing. "This Friday is the Spring Formal, and I have your nominees for queen and king."
I'm excited because Taylor and Tiffany really want to get nominated and as there friend I can give them all my support.
"The nominees for queen are..."
"Taylor Westies"
You could hear clapping and cheering down the hall in her class room.
"Tiffany Ramirez"
I smiled and started clapping and people started cheering for her. "Yay!" She smiled hugging me. Then we settled down to the hear the last person.
"And last but certainly not least, Hallie Lovato!"
What? I didn't want to be nominated I didn't even- what?!
I snapped out of thought and smiled and people started cheering and hugging me. "Congratulations Hallie and Tiffany." The teacher smiled, I could see Tiffany get kind of mad but she still congratulated me and hugged me.
Then I texted Demi "I have awesome news to tell you when I get home!"
Then she texted me back "your photos came back and they look amazing! Can't wait to hear the news!"
Today was going to be an awesome day.

I got off the bus with Jess, and we walked back to my house. "So, my foster mom is going to adopt me Jess smiled, I stopped walking "oh my gosh! That's amazing Jess!" I hugged him and he hugged me tightly back and spun me around. "My court date is in 2 months, and I want you to come."
I smiled "why me?" I asked, "its for family and close friends, and your a close friend. Hopefully one day more than a friend."
"What do you mean more than a friend? I can't become family." I chuckled, and he smirked. "I meant being my girlfriend."
I don't want to date him! Between school and gymnastics and extra circulars I would have no time to spend with him. We're only hanging out because he needs help with math. "Um, I have to think about it." He smile dropped.
"What? It's a yes or no answer. It's something you don't think about it Hallie." He gripped my wrists tighter, not this again. "Jess, your hurting me." I spoke, "Hallie. Give me a reason why. It's yes or no."
"Jess! I have so much going on, gymnastics, modeling, school, extra circulars when would we hang out?" I said trying to hold back the tears. "We would make time, I like you and you like me, so what's the problem?"
I was only letting him do this because I know this isn't him. He has a mental illness so it's not in his control. "I don't like you Jess, I mean I like you but as a friend!"
That pissed him off, he grabbed my chin and pulled me closer. "You like me, don't deny it you said yes to me for the dance."
"Get off of me Jess!" I pushed him off of me. "Don't fucking touch me Hallie." Then he did the unthinkable, he clenched his fists and pushed me down on the ground. "Ouch!" I called out as my body collided with the ground. "Jess! Your hurting me stop!" I cried as I held my arm, I didn't break it but I knew there was definitely going to bruise. "Well you hurt me Hallie!"
"I'm going home." Then he grabbed his bag and left me on the ground. I wiped my tears and stood up, it was my fault I deserved that. I walked up the long driveway and opened the front door. "Hey baby!" Demi called out. "Where's Jess?" Bomba asked. "His-his mom needed him so he couldn't come over." I choked out, "why are you crying?" Harper asked. Then Demi looked up and at me, "I fell down walking I-I hurt my arm."
"Let me see-" bomba came over and tried to touch my arm "it's fine!" I raised my voice. He looked at me concerned, "sorry-I- sorry." I sighed. "I'm just tired. I have a a lot of homework."
"That's okay baby. Why don't you go do your homework then take a nap, We can talk during dinner." Demi smiled slightly giving me a hug. "Thanks."
I grabbed my bag and walked up the stairs to my room and shut the door.
