His mother sat directly across from him .
An outstretched hand would reach her , he would be able to take her hand in his own .
Even then , she was out of reach . Hidden somewhere among the stars , light years away .
" How was school sweetie? "
School was horrible .
" It was alright " .
Silence from both ends .
" How was work? " He asked .
Silence .
" It was good " . she replied .
Thats good , I'm glad mom .
They kept eating , in silence . Nothing uncomfortable , nothing comfortable . Just their usual silence .
" I'm done . Thank you for the meal " .
He stood up , washed his plate , exited the kitchen .
His mom stared at his retreating back .
