Chapter 4 – Can we have you back?

James’ POV

A month and a half has gone by since the start of term and all the marauders have split up Remus refused to talk to me and Sirius now, no one ever saw Peter, Alexia wouldn’t stay in the same room as any of us unless it was for class or Quidditch and Sirius was depressed because of all the guilt in fact the only good thing that has happened was Evans finally accepting to go on a date with me to Hogsmede next weekend. The silence was boring I was actually up to speed on my homework which was incredible but I was sick of the silence and today was the day we were just going to go back to normal.

We had just had charms and it was time for lunch I forced Sirius to stay back so we could talk. “Prongs I’m hungry,” he whined

“You can eat later right now we are going to sort out a problem that is called Remus being a selfish git.”

Sirius cocked an eyebrow, “So can we yell at him or curse him?”

“I think yelling at him is probably a safer.”

We walked into the Great Hall and up to Remus who was eating his food and reading a book. “Remus, we want to talk to you and we can either do it in here in front of everyone or we can do this outside.”

He looked at us both as if we were mad. “Oh I think we can do this right here because everyone knows Sirius likes making big announcements.”

“This is why we want to talk to you! You’re behaving like a child who lost its favourite toy why can’t you get over the fact that she doesn’t love you!” Sirius was bright red and the whole room was looking at what was going down at the Gryffindor table.

“You honestly think I care about what she thinks because if so you two are dumber than I thought.”

“Then forgive her so we can move on and have our friend back.” Sirius was saying everything I wanted to say so I stayed quiet wait for the right moment to say my bit.

“Why should I forgive her or forgive you Black?”

“Oh my god shut up the both of you, look Remus she said sorry and because of the fact that she thinks you hate her she won’t speak to any of us…”

I was interrupted by getting hit on the back of the head with a book I turned around to see Lilly holding a thick book. “You two are making this even worse for yourselves. As soon as your fight started Alexia walked out in tears.”

“Miss Evans, Mr Potter and Mr Lupin as Head Boy, Head Girl and a prefect I have expected better from you Mr Black your behaviour doesn’t surprise me at all. All four of you must go up to the headmaster’s office right now, the password is cream egg.” McGonagall looked furious.

We all trudged upstairs to Dumbledore’s office I was expecting to lose my Quidditch captaincy and the role of Head Boy.

Alexia’s POV

I was wandering around on the fifth floor collecting my thoughts when I saw a door that hadn’t been there a moment ago, I know that I shouldn’t go into rooms that just come and go but maybe it would be a place where I could think about everything.

The room was dark with a few candles lit there was a loveseat in the centre of the room. I walked over to it and focused on what had just happened but I couldn’t keep my eyes open, I’m not sure how long I was sitting there for but it didn’t take long before I fell to sleep.

Sirius’ POV

We were all sitting in Dumbledore’s office with our heads down, no one was speaking it was just silence except for the occasional rumble of my stomach. After fifteen minutes Dumbledore walked in, he wasn’t smiling he looked more concerned than anything. “Well do you all feel as if you have accomplished something?” He said.

“What is there to have accomplished exactly professor?” Lily quizzed.

“Well aside from making one student who until this year you all considered as somewhat of a friend extremely upset, you have also cost your house twenty points.” Okay now he looked mad. “You are all also receiving detention this weekend rather than going to Hogsmede and you will find Miss Greengrass and apologise for that display in the great hall.”

How were we supposed to find Alexia she could be anywhere she knew about places that weren’t on the map, we are beyond screwed right now. Alexia didn’t want to speak to us so why would she listen to us beg for forgiveness. “That might be a problem.” I muttered.

“And why would that be?” Dumbledore asked.

“Because she knows almost everything about this castle so we may never find her.” James pipped up.

“That’s true she knows more secret passage ways then we do” Remus said.

“Well she’s probably in a room that isn’t always there then.” Dumbledore said with a wink, of course she was in the room of come and go.

I stood up and crossed the room exiting quickly with James on my tail. “So where exactly are we going?” He asked.

“Fifth floor corridor and then we just wait for her to appear.”

 “And you know this how?”

“Because I pulled her in a disappearing room last year and it was on the fifth floor corridor.”

“I’m not even going to ask what went down in there.”

“Shut up she can hear us from in there.” I said indicating to a black piece of wall.

Alexia’s POV

I could hear them it was just murmurs but it was still clear they were planning something. I checked my watch it was 6:23 how long had I been asleep for? I made my way toward the door and turned the knob, I felt dreadful giving the boys the silent treatment was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do but I just couldn’t go on living my life with a reputation as a skank. As I swung the door open I spotted both Sirius and James sitting on the floor across from me. “Boys.”

“Alexia.” They both muttered, I turned on my heel to walk away but James grabbed my arm and pulled me back.

“Look if your here to apologise I don’t want to hear it.” Why am I being like this? This isn’t me.

“Well we do want to apologise and you are going to hear it whether you want to or not.” Sirius said.

James look tired and frustrated, Sirius on the other hand had red eyes and tear streaks down his face. “Fine I’ll pretend to listen to your forced apologies but i don’t even think you know what your apologising for.”

“Yes we do it’s for starting a row with Remus in the great hall.” James said.

“No that’s not what she wants an apology for. I know you Lex, you couldn’t care less about that, what you want an apology for is us not making an effort to get you back sooner and for not realising something was wrong before the start of term.” Sirius said, he was being genuine he was sorry for those things and that is what I wanted to hear not about starting a row. I wrapped my arms around his chest and pulled him into a hug. “Can we have you back?” he whispered.

“It’s not going to ever be the same you know that?” I said.

“So I think we need to go to the great hall and get a feed.” James announced importantly. I swear that boy only cares about pranks, Evans and food.

“You do know we can just go to the kitchens right?” I said leaning against the wall.

“But where is the fun in that?” Sirius asked.

We pretty much ran to the great hall but just as James went in Sirius held me back. “What happened during the summer?” he asked.

“What do you mean?”

“Something happened to you; about two weeks in you stopped sending daily owls and then you didn’t come to James’ like you normally do.”

I glanced over my shoulder to make sure nobody was around. “My family joined his side.” I whispered.

Sirius had a look of horror on his face, I should have told them sooner what happened and where I was but I just couldn’t it was too dangerous. “Does that mean you’re marked?” He said lowering his voice.

“I said my family did not me.”

“Then what happened to you?”

“I went into hiding, I could only write every few days as I was worried about the owl being intercepted, and that is also why I was so short talk. They went after me, found me twice but both times I escaped. They’re trying to kill me on the first night it was clear they aren’t afraid for it to be public.”

“Wait so they’re in the school?”

“Don’t trust anyone. You never know one of your best friends may betray you.”

“Are you saying that Mooney is a death eater?”

“Remus didn’t curse me, but someone I trusted did.”

“How do you…”

I cut him off. “Know? I know more than I should and the person that cursed me is certainly a rat.” I emphasised on the word rat hopefully he understood the double meaning in my voice.

“Let’s go, I’m hungry.” Sirius said straightening up and heading into the Great Hall. He didn’t understand and he probably never would.
