AN IMAGINARY LOVE

Edit: can you please stop comparing it to the forest fic of whatever? I'm getting pretty tired of half the comments being "oh it's the forest fic oh no". I have never even read it, and nobody likes hearing you "copied" something that you don't even know and obviously doesn't have a good reputation.

Tyler is Ethan's imaginary best friend. But as Ethan grows up, Tyler begins to fade.

Tyler was flying around in the white room. His hands in his pockets, and a bored expression on his face. Stone-faced Tyler, they called him here. He never smiled.

"Mark Fischbach!" a voice called. The redhead smiled widely and floated towards the gate that was the exit. It was decorated with white statues of angels and devils, showing that it was both the exit of the room and the entrance to the judge room.

The building they sat in existed of three rooms: First of all you had the Black Room. Kids around the age two to six were called there in their dreams to choose an imaginary friend. They would think they thought them up themselves while in reality they saw them all and picked one.

After the Black Room you had the White Room, where Tyler and the others sat in. In the White Room sat all the potential friends. Or the misfits, like Tyler. He refused to smile, coming over as "depressing" and "sad" on the little kids. He knew he would never get chosen, but he still had to hang around. For as long as it would take for a kid to choose him: eternity. And he would never age: staying at an age of six, but with a grown up mind.

Lastly you had the Blue Room. In the Blue Room there was a podium where the chosen friend would stand, answering questions asked by the Angels and Devils. They would ask questions to judge if he qualified as a good friend, and if he would go back to the White Room after he disappeared or if he would completely disappear.

Tyler sighed. He would go crazy if he had to stay here forever. He looked at the mirror wall and forced a smile on his face. It just looked scary. Not sweet or kind. And that is what kids wanted. A kind and cool friend.

"Good night sweetie," Ethan's mother said, pressing a kiss on her child's head. "Goodnight mommy." Ethan was three years old. His mother took care of him on her own, his father left when he heard she was pregnant. Ethan had never known him.

Ethan crawled in his bed and hugged his teddy bear close. "Goodnight Mr. Bear," he said to it. He closed his eyes and fell asleep immediately.

"Where am I?" he questioned when he woke up in a room that was completely black, except one wall that looked like a window with a view on a white room with a lot of people in it. "You're sleeping, sweetie," a sweet voice said. He looked around to see a woman with blonde and pink hair. "What do you mean?" "This is a dream." Ethan didn't understand. "O-okay?" The woman knelt until she could look him straight in his eyes. "I want you to answer a few questions, ok, dearie?" Ethan, who didn't understand anything, just nodded. "First of all, your name." "E-Ethan." "Last name?" "Nestor." "So Ethan, how old are you?" "I-I'm three," he said, holding up three fingers. The woman smiled. "Do you have a lot of friends?" Ethan nodded. "I have Mr Bear," he said, holding out his bear to the woman. She smiled and shook the bears paw. "Nice to meet you Mr Bear. I'm Louise." The boy smiled from ear to ear. "He liked you." "I'm glad."

"Now Ethan, we want you to choose one of these people here. They will become your friend." Ethan looked through the window. About fifty people were floating through the room. All with wide smiles, happy conversations and nice clothes. They looked a little older than himself. His eye fell on a pale boy with a black fringe and blue eyes. He looked so happy even though he was on his own. "Is everyone here always happy?" Louise nodded happily. "Yes, they all smile and are happy so you can be happy too." "But then what about him?" He pointed at Tyler, sitting on the floor with his head against the wall. He had his arms crossed and his eyes closed. "Oh him? That is Tyler. He is a little different. He never smiles. He is a sad boy, I wouldn't chose him. He can't make you happy." Louise smiled, though it was a little sad. She had to say it for her job, even though she pitied Tyler.

"I want him," Ethan stated. Louise's eyes widened in surprise. "But why?" The little boy smiled from ear to ear. "I will make him smile."

"Tyler Scheid!" Louise called through the microphone. From behind the window Ethan could see Tyler look up in surprise, a confused look on his face. He floated towards the gate. People in white and black suits stood across each other in the hallway. Their hands on their back, chin tilted, eyes closed. They were like statues. Two big doors opened, begging Tyler to enter them. He saw the podium he heard so much about. It was blue, like the name said, and there were two rows of chairs. Angels with long blonde hair and white dresses and suits were mixed with Devils with black hair and black suits. Every pair of eyes, be it blue or red, was focused on him, but he decided to ignore it. Instead a boy sitting on the throne right on the podium. He had brown hair, hazel eyes and the widest smile Tyler had ever seen. And he had been in the White Room.

"Ethan, we think you might want another friend. Tyler, you see, Tyler doesn't smile. You'll be sad if you chose him." Ethan felt anger burn inside him. "No." he stood up. "I want him. If he doesn't smile I'll smile for both of us. I want him to be my friend." Tyler's jaw fell at how grown up this "Ethan" was. He looked at the boy who had turned his head to look at his new friend, smiling sweetly. So cute, he thought.

And he smiled back. A real smile.

"Ethan, can you put on some music?" Ethan was ten now, Tyler twelve. Usually they stopped with believing in their friends around six, but Ethan kept faith in his friends. "Of course," he said, putting on a CD. They were best friends. But Tyler was worried. He could stop believing any moment. And they would be separated. Ethan would get new friends and forget about him. While he...he would go back to that room. Or he would disappear forever. And even if he would go back to the room, nobody would be as good as Ethan.

He couldn't lose him.

Not Ethan.

The boy that made him smile, and still did every day. The boy that was both cute and gorgeous, and he would grow up to be even more. Tyler could feel his cheeks heat up at the thought of only his smile. I don't want to lose you," he thought, running his hand through his curly hair. I like you too much. Tyler had always liked him. In a more than friends way.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Ethan asked. Tyler shook his head. "Nah, just thinking, you know." The younger boy walked over to his bed where Tyler lay. He hugged him close. "What's wrong?" "As I said, just thinking." He hated to lie to his best friend and crush, but Ethan still thought he was real. His parents didn't know about him, because his father was gone and his mother never remarried but always worked.

Ethan was always alone. His classmates didn't like him, and his parents were never there. Just more reasons why I can't leave him.

Tyler woke up in the chair opposite of Ethan's bed. He walked over to the boy who was sleeping curled up with a peaceful smile. He smiled too, reaching out to stroke some hair away from his face.

But his hand went right through the boy. "No," he whispered, grabbing his wrist. "This can't be..." He tried again and again, but he couldn't touch the boy. Tears pricked behind his eyes and he bit his lip not avoid crying. He wanted to scream, he wanted to cry. He felt sick and sad. Not "sad" as he was in the White Room, he was straight up hurt. His heart hurt. "No - no, Ethan...NO!" he screamed. But Ethan didn't wake up.

"Mornin' Tyler," Ethan yawned. Tyler smiled a sad smile. "Hey." He wanted to spend the next 24 hours with him, because he knew when Ethan woke up tomorrow...Tyler would be on his way to the Blue Room for the second time. "Wanna go to the beach today? It's Saturday and you don't have homework." Ethan nodded, smiling brightly. "Of course!"

Tyler sat in the sand watching Ethan swim. They couldn't wrestle anymore, they couldn't high-five. He had avoided touching Ethan all day so he wouldn't notice. "Tyler - I'm so tired," Ethan yawned when the sun starting to lower. "Let's go home then."

On the way back Tyler could feel his tears again. Ethan happily rambled on about what he could see underwater, oblivious to what was happening. "Goodnight Tyler," he yawned, crawling under the covers. "Goodbye, Ethan."

Ethan fell asleep. Tyler still sat on the chair. On his toes he walked over to his friend. He leaned forward and pressed his lips to his forehead. But they went right through him. Tyler still got a tingly feeling in his stomach. "I love you..." He saw his hand become more and more see through. "I love you...so much..." he sobbed. He covered his head in his hands. "Please...become happy. Smile for the both of us, ok?" Ethan's smile disappeared. He turned around to Tyler but still didn't wake up. "Goodbye Ethan." He raised his head of the covers he had leaned on.

He continued to cry as his body became invisible as the clock hit twelve.

Ethan woke up in the middle of the night. He didn't know why. His eyes still half closed he looked at the clock.

00.00

He sat up straight, rubbing his eyes. "What is this wet spot on my covers?"

Tyler still hadn't calmed down when he entered the Blue Room. The Angels looked at him with pity and the Devils had a sadistic smile. "Tyler Scheid. We already decided for you what you are going to do. You have successfully made someone happy: you are going to disappear."

Ethan - age 18. Ethan sighed as he looked out of the window of the classroom. He had a weird feeling in his stomach. He didn't listen to a word the teacher had said. He walked away as soon as the bell went off. He went to the centrum to buy lunch, on his own. He had never had a friend. Never. He couldn't remember anyone who had ever been there for him, a friend with who he could go to the beach and do other fun activities.

He had never had one.

THE END

Jk

Don't kill me

Ethan walked through the centrum on his way to the lunch place he always went. He was stopped because he walked into somebody and fell on the ground.

"Oh! I'm sorry! Are you ok?" a low voice asked. Ethan nodded, accepting the hand the stranger offered him. A blush crept to his cheeks as he noticed how incredibly good-looking he was.

He was tall, well built, with a strong jawline, glasses and curly hair. He could drown in his brown eyes. "T-Thank you. I'm Ethan." The stranger smiled. "Hi, Ethan. I'm Tyler. Can I apologize with a treat of coffee?" Ethan nodded happily, feeling better than he did in years.

Tyler still hadn't calmed down when he entered the Blue Room. The Angels looked at him with pity and the Devils had a sadistic smile. "Tyler Scheid. We already decided for you what you are going to do. You have successfully made someone happy: you are going to disappear."

Tyler nodded. Whatever his fate was, he would accept it. He wasn't going to be with Ethan anyway. "Do you know what happens when someone disappears?" He thought for a moment, then shook his head. He assumed his soul would be taken, and the body buried. No conscious anymore. No feelings anymore.

"Basically, we take someone's soul." Tyler nodded. He was right. "And we send the soul to the human world. He can continue to live there. In his original body too - our soul and body are connected to each other." One Devil smiled. Not a sadistic smile like normally, a sweet smile. He started talking; he had a Swedish accent. "We have been watching over you and the boy. We've never seen a bond like yours. It explains how he could be with you for so long. You're in love with him and he is in love with you. Aaah...young love," he sighed. "Now, go look for him. He might even remember you. Hup, go go!" The Devil made a heart of his hands and Tyler shook his head in disbelief. How could that be possible?

Tyler and Ethan talked for over an hour. Tyler smiled looking at Ethan like he always did. Their eyes met - the click they felt the first time they met was back. "T-Tyler?" Tyler nodded, smiling widely. "You remember?" Ethan nodded too. "Everything." The younger boy leaned over and pressed their lips together. Tyler, who didn't see that coming but still enjoyed it, kissed back, smiling against his lips. "I love you, Ethan." "I love you too, Tyler." Tyler kissed his temple softly. "And I won't disappear this time."

A/N: Wow I had a lot of fun writing this one, idk why. I'm not good at requests but I would appreciate it if you could vote for one of the stories below (which one will be written next)

1. Tyler moves into a new house and finds a notebook: it's like a diary but about near death experiences and signed with "E.N" (Ethan Nestor). He reads that the boy is frequently saved by Tyler. He decides to follow the diary and save Ethan.
2. Tyler is a ghost hunter and Ethan is a ghost - but instead of a depressing and mourning ghost he's energetic and happy.
3. A fairytale with a twist (just request a fairytale, I probably know it and if I don't: \g(0^0)gle/)

thanks to TheManiac01 for prereading and reviewing all my stories. I can't tag him for some reason so here's just a thanks~

Thanks.

Also thanks to HelloFellowPhamily for doing the same, and forcing me into publishing the first story because she would have killed me otherwise.

And Memie2698 for giving me tips. Sorry I made you cry with the first story and sorry for not sending the other two stories.

Thanks for reading this long-ass Autors note *laughs nervously*
