It was the next day now. It was morning and the sun had risen. At the Gilbert lake house, Damon, Elena, Jeremy and Matt were hiding out from the vampires Klaus sent after Matt. Since it was daytime, Damon and Jeremy went to hunt the vampires and Elena took Matt home.
Stefan came out of the bathroom in his room from taking a shower. He had a towel around his neck and he wore sweatpants but no shirt on. Rebekah was lounging on his bed, reading his diary.
Stefan smiled when he saw her,"You know, reading someone's diary is invading their privacy."
"I was bored while waiting for you," Rebekah explained, closing the diary.
Rebekah got up into a sitting position while Stefan put a shirt on. He walked over to her and leaned down towards her, kissing her sweetly on the lips.
When he pulled away, he said,"Well, you can read it all you want. I won't hide anything from you."
Rebekah smiled up at him and Stefan smiled back on instinct. He kissed her again before walking away from her and pouring himself a drink.
"Look, we're at a bit of a disadvantage in this whole race for the cure. Team Klaus has Jeremy the hunter, team Shane has Bonnie the witch...," Rebekah got interrupted.
"If you're here to remind me of our last place status, I'm very well aware," Stefan said.
"Actually I have a plan. The cure is buried with Silas, that ancient evil guy my brother Kol is afraid of. Shane was so eager to prove his existence that he gave away that he has one of the keys to resurrecting him, his headstone," Rebekah explained and she looped her arms around Stefan's neck.
"I see. You wanna steal it," Stefan put together.
"Yes, and then Team Shane will have to join Team Rebekah, and Team Klaus will be left out in the cold where he belongs," Rebekah smiled cutely up at him.
"Well, I guess we better get started looking for the headstone then," Stefan said and he kissed her cheek.

Rebekah, Stefan, and Eira went to Shane's office at Whitmore College. They were looking for the headstone. They looked everywhere and they couldn't find it. Eira had a feeling though, a supernatural feeling that buzzed in her mind. She knew it was there, she just didn't know where.
Eira's phone rang while they were searching for the headstone. She answered to reveal Elena on the other end calling her.
"Elena, slow down. What's wrong?" Eira questioned.
"Kol has Damon," Elena started. "I need you to talk to Klaus. Have him get Kol to release Damon."
"I'll, uh, try," Eira said and hung up the phone.
Eira looked at Stefan,"Keep looking for the headstone. It's in here. I can feel it."
Eira left the room and she went outside to her motorcycle. She hopped on and strapped her helmet on her head. She started the bike and drove to Klaus's mansion.
Her mind was going crazy with worry. She didn't want anything to happen to Damon. Eira was positive, though, that she wouldn't let anything happen to Damon. She didn't care what she had to do to get Klaus to talk his brother into letting Damon go. She would do anything.

Eira showed up at Klaus's door. She was somewhat nervous to see him. She knocked on the door and waited. The door opened to reveal Klaus.
His eyes widened seeing her. He never expected her to come to him. His vision took in every detail about her. She had acquired a black leather jacket and he noticed she wore black makeup to accentuate her eyes. She was different. A little spark of hope lit up in his heart that she had remembered him. But the words that came out of her mouth killed any hope he had.
"I need your help," Eira started.
Klaus frowned and he walked away from the doorway, leaving the door open. Eira followed him inside and she shut the door once she was inside.
"So, I'm guessing one of your little friends sent you here to sweet talk me? To use my feelings for you against me?" Klaus questioned, pouring alcohol into a glass for himself.
"Well, everyone else is scared of you and no one else can convince you to do anything," Eira explained.
"And what is it that you need to convince me of?" Klaus asked.
"Kol has Damon. Can you talk to your brother, get him to release Damon?" Eira asked, softly.
"You're in no position to ask requests of me anymore, love," Klaus glared at her and his words held hurt. "You're the one that rejected me."
"It wasn't my intention to hurt you. I would never want to hurt you," Eira said, honestly.
The glass in Klaus's hand broke and he vamp sped in front of Eira, startling her. He glared down at her and angrily gritted his teeth,"Yet, you come here, knowing that your presence around me makes me think you might want me the way you used to."
Eira's breath came out unevenly at their close proximity. Her heart beat erratically. She looked anywhere but at him. Klaus put his fingers under her chin and he tilted her face so she looked at him.
Once her eyes found his stormy blue ones, tears built up in her eyes and her voice trembled,"I'm sorry that I'm hurting you. And I wish that glare you look at me with wasn't one of anger but of hate. It would make it so much easier if you hated me."
"I could never hate you. Trust me, I've tried," Klaus said, his face softening and his glare gone.
Eira took a step back from him. She needed to think and his close proximity wasn't allowing her to think properly.
"I'm not asking you to do this for me," Eira started. "You want the cure. Damon is the one that trains Jeremy. So, just do this for the cure."
"The only reason I ever started searching for the cure is because you weren't by my side. The cure is a way to occupy myself until I can be with you again," Klaus explained and guilt nagged at her heart. "But I'll put up pretenses and say I want it. I'll get Damon released."
Klaus pulled out his phone and he called Kol, threatening him to release Damon. She sighed in relief once he did. Klaus ended the phone call and she looked up at him.
"Thank you," Eira said, sincerely.
Klaus looked at her intensely, analyzing every feature about her. He finally spoke,"How are you?"
"What?" Eira questioned in confusion.
Klaus smiled, sadly,"Even though you don't love me and probably never will, I still do. I care about your wellbeing."
Eira sucked in a breath,"Physically, I'm fine. Emotionally, for today, I'm not. Mentally, I'm changed. I'll kill whoever I have to for the people I care about and I'm okay with that."
"And you're still one of those people, Klaus," Eira spoke, softly.
Eira walked to Klaus and she wrapped her arms around his neck for a hug. Klaus felt like his heart was lifted up and mended. He wrapped his arms around her immediately, wanting to hold her forever.
Eira pulled away from him,"I'll care about you, always. Maybe not in the way you want me to and I hope that you can be okay with that."
"I'll try," Klaus breathed out.
Eira nodded and she walked away from him and out the door of his house. Klaus gritted his teeth once she left and he was upset with himself. He let her so easily walk right in and out of his life. He'd always have a soft spot for her, for eternity.

Damon had been released by Kol but he had been compelled to kill Jeremy. Damon came home first where Eira was waiting for him. She ran to him once she saw him walk through the door and she threw her arms around him in a hug.
"You have no idea how worried I was for you," Eira revealed.
"Well, I'm fine," Damon wrapped his arms around her before pulling away soon after. "Did Elena come by here? Is she with Jeremy?"
"Um, I don't know," Eira said in confusion, wondering why there was so many questions.
"I should probably go see her. So, she doesn't worry," Damon said.
"Okay, I guess," Eira nodded.

Damon had left and she thought his behavior was odd. He had gone to see Elena and then she brought him to see Jeremy like he asked. They figured out that Kol compelled Damon as he kept going after Jeremy and trying to kill him.
Stefan was with Rebekah at Shane's office, looking for the headstone. Another person had shown up and found it. They were trying to get him to talk about what he knew. Rebekah was torturing him by cutting his arm open slowly.
"All you have to do to make it stop is tell me and my boyfriend who sent you," Rebekah said as the man groaned in pain. She tasted a bit of his blood from the knife. "You're full of vervain, so I know you haven't been compelled."
It took a moment for Stefan to realize that Rebekah called him her boyfriend. He was her boyfriend. He let out a small smile at that before getting serious again.
"Or maybe somebody compelled him before he ingested it," Stefan suggested.
"He was after the headstone. We need to know who sent him," Rebekah stated.
"Okay. Fine. So we take him home, wait till the vervain is out of his system, and then compel him and get whatever information we want," Stefan planned.
"That's not a bad idea," Rebekah said.
The man started spitting out blood and Stefan looked at his mouth, the man had chewed out his own tongue. The man then quickly grabbed the knife out of Rebekah's hand and stabbed it into his neck, killing himself. Stefan started to put together that their was a third party involved looking for the cure.
Stefan then got a call from Elena and she told him that Kol compelled Damon to kill Jeremy. Stefan couldn't have the map to the cure be killed, so he went to stop Damon.
"I have to go deal with my brother," Stefan said to Rebekah once he hung up.
"Yes, go. We can't have the hunter being killed. You deal with your brother and I'll deal with mine," Rebekah encouraged and Stefan left.

Stefan stopped Damon from killing Jeremy by snapping his neck and bringing him back to the Salvatore house, locking him up in the cellar. Eira was in the cellar with Stefan, waiting for him to wake up. Stefan told her what happened.
Stefan had bled Damon of blood, making him weak so he couldn't go and try to kill Jeremy. Damon's arm moved as he woke up and he groaned once he did. He looked around him, taking in his surroundings.
"Easy there, buddy. You lost a lot of blood," Stefan said to Damon.
"So you bled me out?" Damon groaned.
"Yeah. I didn't really have much of a choice. Kol's compulsion is still in effect, so you need to stay locked up. We don't have any vervain, so...this was the only way I could weaken you," Stefan explained.
"You sound real torn up about it. Shouldn't we be going after Kol, make him decompel me?" Damon questioned.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. That sounds easy enough, Damon. I'll get right on that," Stefan said sarcastically.
"At least let me see Elena," Damon coughed as he failed to sit up.
"Come on. You know you can't do that. With the sire bond, all you have to do is tell her to let you out of here. It's too risky," Stefan said and Eira nodded.
"So, you'll stay in here until we can stop Kol," Stefan said and he walked out of the cellar with Eira following behind him.
Stefan closed the cellar door, locking it. The twins went upstairs where they ran into Elena. She wanted to see Damon, but they couldn't allow her to do that because of the sire bond. So, the twins sent Elena on her way out of the house.

Stefan left the house eventually and he went to Rebekah's house. He barged right into her room, without knocking.
"Sure. Just barge right in," Rebekah stated.
"Oh. I thought not knocking was our thing. You didn't dagger Kol," Stefan said.
Rebekah removed her earrings,"Well, the white oak stake pointed at my heart made things a little difficult. I do believe my brother Kol has finally lost his mind."
"Are you okay?" Stefan questioned in worry.
Rebekah smiled, looking at him,"I'm fine, now."
"You know, you called me your boyfriend today," Stefan smiled proudly.
"Well, I would think so with the way I'm spending my time with you," Rebekah crossed her arms.
"Does that mean I can call you my girlfriend?" Stefan asked.
"Why do you even have to ask? Do you have another that you'd like to call yours?" Rebekah questioned.
"No," Stefan answered immediately, walking over to her. "Just you."
Rebekah smiled, a giddy feeling rushing inside of her. Stefan reached down and kissed her. Rebekah happily kissed him back.
Author's Note: I swear that this story didn't turn into a Stebekah story. I'm just writing the beginning bits of their little love affair.
