Third person POV
Once there was a masked female walking alone with a little fox in the dangerous streets of the demon world but none dared go near her for she was a monster that would lose control none dared challenge her and none dared to approach her for she was the cold-hearted fox spirit Tomoka.
She was walking around aimlessly before she decided to leave the demon world and go venture to other places like a human village,she stayed there for a week hidden behind bushes and up above trees until the village near her noticed her.
Of course going to the human world meant that she could finally free herself from the mask that kept her identity hidden and finally breathe the fresh air the trees gave her and arrived at a village not far from her.
She stayed there not eating just staring up at the sky thinking of her brother while she was here in the human world,the time spent at the demon world felt...unnatural as the monsters and demons ate souls for dinner while she ate nothing.
She ate no soul instead she ate fruits and delicious food as humans would call it and did nothing to humans,she loved humans so why would she hurt them when they did nothing to her?
She stayed near the village as she felt somewhat satisfied by how the village looks atop the tree she was sitting in as she took in the view of the stars at night when she heard someone screaming in the village and she didn't hesitate to run over.
When she arrived she was pushed to the floor by the villagers claiming that she tried to kill a lady when she did no such thing,she looked for the said lady and found her trembling in the corner surrounded by the female villagers while she? She was thrown onto the ground and beaten but she did nothing...nothing at all as she knew telling them the truth would only make things worse.
The villagers not knowing she was a fox spirit kept hitting her until she was bleeding but the bleeding didn't last long until she stood up and healed instantly which not only shocked the villagers but made them scared of the fox spirit.
The fox spirit stood up while white ears and tail appeared as she stood staring at the villagers who hurt her,she started telling them what happened and they believed her so she went over to the trembling girl and kneeled in front of her.
The girl had brown hair and big brown eyes as she looked at the female fox spirit and stared into her eyes,while the girl was staring into the fox spirits eyes she couldn't help but stare at the beautiful shade of red filled with such kindness and gentleness she couldn't help but feel safe around her.
The fox spirit smiled a gentle smile before asking what happened,what the girl told her shocked her as she knew of which demon the brunette had seen and she knew it was trouble as she knew she would see HIM again.
The man she used to call brother...the man she despised as she started to grow up alone in the demon world alone and deprived of feeling the happiness of a family.
Tomoka swore to the village that she would stay and protect them and the villagers couldn't help but be thankful that they would be under the protection of a fox spirit that they created a shrine for her.
Tomoka gladly accepted to be apart of the village despite their first meeting as they had apologised everytime she would cross path with the people who had beaten her,she would always smile and she would always help the females with chores.
The villagers grew attached to her greatly as she had done so much to help but that all changed when Tomoe came back again.
Tomoe went into the village and sniffed the air before his eyes went wide as the smell he caught was of a familiar lady he knew.
Tomoe followed the scent only to arrive at a shrine that looked to be built recently as Tomoka was inside sleeping until her nose caught a faint smell of someone outside her shrine.
She woke up and glared at her door as she knew who the person was and angrily opened the door only to be faced with a surprised Tomoe.
She told him to leave but he refused and kept asking her questions until she had enough and yelled at him to leave...oh what a mistake she made as she had woken the villagers up.
One by one villagers came out of their little houses and looked at why their fox spirit had yelled only to be shocked to see that Tomoka was pushing Tomoe away and behind her shrine.
Villagers came over and asked why she was pushing the demon who had tried to kill one of them females only to be shocked with her answer as she had told them that the demon was actually her brother.
Shocked expressions were changed into one of anger as they started attacking Tomoka again,the fox spirit had tried telling them her story but...it was no use as she was thrown to the ground and beaten again.
She looked up to see the brunette going into the forest as if she was in search for something OR someone as she escaped the scene rather quickly.
But before she disappeared into the forest she glanced back at Tomoka before turning away as if she saw nothing,the pain Tomoka felt that time was horrible.
Tomoka managed to escape but she almost died as spears and arrows were thrown at her leaving her stuck to a tree unable to move as the spears and arrows were restricting her movements.
All she could do was lay there until her faithful fox came back.
He turned into his human form and kneeled in front of his master before picking at the spears and arrows until none were left.
"Master?" He said
Tomoka slowly opened her eyes and looked into the eyes of her faithful companion whose name was Takashi.
"Have you learnt your lesson now master?"
"...yes I have...and I will never trust humans again."
As Tomoka said that the brunette came and Takashi jumped up a tree to hide himself as his master had instructed him to do so.
The brunette was getting closer but Tomoka's wounds have not healed which made her unable to move.
The brunette saw a figure under a tree despite the poor lighting the moon gave and walked closer only to see familiar white hair.
She excitedly walked over until she saw how wounded her fox spirit was and approached her.
The fox spirit looked up at the brunette as she was getting closer,the brunette worriedly looked at her before kneeling in front of her.
"Are you ok Tomoka-sama?"
The brunette received a emotionless looking Tomoka as she stayed still and quiet as her wounds were slowly healing.
The brunette tried to reach for her hand but unfortunately couldn't as her hand was slapped away and she couldn't help but feel hurt.
She looked into Tomoka's eyes only to see that the beautiful shade of red has dulled and her once gentle and kind eyes were replaced with anger and hatred.
The brunette was confused as she asked what was wrong only to receive an outburst from Tomoka.
"What's wrong?! I was almost beaten to death and YOU did NOTHING to help?!"
The brunette shocked suddenly remembered seeing Tomoka getting beaten by the villagers,now she wondered why she hadn't done anything to help and regretted her actions but she couldn't help the curiosity she felt when she saw Tomoe in the forest.
She tried explaining before getting cut of by Tomoka's violent coughing of blood and heavy panting as the fox spirit had no energy as she had used it to protect her bones from breaking.
This action caused the brunette to worry more and tried to help but yet again got denied.
Suddenly Tomoka called out a faint name which the brunette could barely hear if she wasn't so close to the fox spirit.
"Takashi..."
That was the name the brunette had heard before feeling something hit her neck and she fell to the floor falling into unconsciousness not before hearing her precious fox spirit say this sentence.
"I curse you all...I have lost trust in humanity as they are filthy beings like you.
Goodbye.Nanami."
With that the female fox spirit disappeared in her flames.
Tomoka POV
I woke up panting and sweating while Mika was still asleep next to me...why would I have a dream of such a long time ago?
I fell back onto the soft mattress beneath me and hugged Mika before closing my eyes...
Just for them open again because of the dream I had she couldn't help but think about it...
Did she really forget such an important memory? Or was it just a dream her mind made?
By now she was beyond confused but said nothing as she waited for daylight to shine through her window and when the time came she looked outside and smiled a little before looking down only to see that Mika was awake and staring at her.
"Good morning Mika.Enjoying the view?"
I teased
He laughed a little before sitting up and looking outside as well.
"Yeah...reminds me of my family tho..."-Mika
"...yeah...I had the weirdest dream last night..."
"Hmm? Wanna tell me?"-Mika
I nodded slowly before telling him and when I was done he nodded before he said he was going back to his room to change and of course I let him.
I waited until he closed the door before going to prepare for my day.
Nanami POV
I woke up sweaty and looked around only to find myself in my room...that wasn't supposed to happen. I just wanted to see Tomoe why would I see Tomoka?
I stood up and searched for Tomoe and found him in the kitchen as it was mornings anyways and told him about my dream last night.
I saw him stiffen at the mention of Tomoka's name but he continued to listen until I was done.
When I was done and he was about to say something everyone came in and we ate our breakfast in awkward silence as nobody wanted to say anything except for Mizuki tho.
He wanted to get rid of the awkward silence and lighten the atmosphere around here but failed miserably.
We continued our day after breakfast and when I was walking around the shrine looking for something to do I saw Tomoe under a tree thinking and I went over but stopped when I heard him say
"What happened to you Tomoka?"-Tomoe
And I saw him trembling a bit which made me run over and hug him,he hugged me back crying and I promised myself that I would bring back Tomoka if it was the last thing I do.
Tomoka POV
I was walking around outside about to head to the training grounds when Mika came up from behind me and tried to scare me,the next thing I know my fist was up in the air and he was on the floor clutching his nose while blood was slipping out.
"Oooooowwwwwww!why would you do that?!"-Mika
"Reflexes I guess?"
With that I left him there and ignored his cries for help and trained the newbies,after a while-ok maybe half an hour later Mika came out with an ice pack around his nose and came over to me grudgingly.
He glared at me before he crossed his arms and turned his back to me like a kid would when angry.
"Are you angry?"
"Hmph!"-Mika
"Oh come on~you know you can't stay mad at me..."
"...not talking to you..."-Mika
"Fine then I won't either."
"Hmph fine!"-Mika
"Great."
"Amazing."-Mika
"Spectacular."
"Splendid!"-Mika
"Wanna eat breakfast?"
"Yeah I'm kinda-hey I'm not talking to you!"-Mika
"Ok then I'm heading to get breakfast then."
"Wha-hey wait up!"-Mika
With that Mika came up behind me and started laughing which made me laugh a little too.
With that we started our day.
Night came and Tomoka fell asleep almost instantly as another flashback came.
Third person POV
Once again the masked girl walked through the demon world but this time Takashi was in his human form,they were strolling through the busy streets of the demon world until...
She heard rumours about Tomoe...rumours here in the demon world spread like wildfire as one goes to the other and the other spreads it.
Rumours of Tomoe falling in love with a human...how...tragic it is to fall in love with a mortal.
With that said Tomoka decided that maybe it was time to relax and the only place was the human world.
Tomoka decided to go to check up on a village as she had missed the fresh air the trees gave and went on ahead to the old village.
She arrived only to be shocked at what she was seeing...the village she cared for...now gone and in flames.
Who was to blame for destroying her village?!
Who was to blame for killing humans?!
A whole village in fact!
Tomoka walked into the village slowly as her face remained emotionless and continued to stroll through the once lively village.
She followed where her feet took her only to arrive at her old shrine which was surprisingly not in ashes.
She stood still staring emotionlessly as memories started flooding in of her helping and laughing with the villagers of this now destroyed village.
Still staring at the shrine she didn't notice a presence behind her as she was still reliving her past,the presence behind her could only wait and see her reaction.
Tomoka still not noticing the presence continued reliving her past until she looked over to her right to see a damaged doll on the ground.
Slowly approaching the doll the presence behind her followed her making Tomoka finally aware of his presence as she turned around immediately only to see Akura-ou.
The man she escaped from grinned at her tear stained face as he slowly approached her while she stood frozen to her spot as she saw a face she has been avoiding after her escape.
He reached over to caress her cheek as he grinned like a maniac before he looked into Tomoka's pain filled eyes.
He couldn't help but feel a little sad but after remembering what she has done his grin faltered and he became angry and slapped her.
As she fell she put a hand to her cheek trying to ease the pain and she rubbed it gently,she stayed on the ground before Akura-ou kneeled before her taking her face in his hand as he glared hard at the poor fox spirit.
Tomoka didn't do anything as her heart was in terrible pain yet she could only stare at the ground as her cheek and hearing numbed from the slap she had just received.
Akura-ou stared at her but received nothing made him mad as he pulled her up with him to his hideout.
Tomoe was inside their so called "hideout" waiting for his so called brother to return and patiently sat down but never did he imagine to see his sister here again.
While Akura-ou was pulling Tomoka along she remained quiet with a hand to her tear stained face as she continued to cry for her lost village.
When they arrived however Tomoka woke up from her daze and got thrown to the ground in front of Tomoe but all she did was stare at the ground as she didn't want to show her tear stained face.
Slowly but steadily she wiped at her face but it seemed useless as tears kept falling however her action only caused Akura-ou madder as he watched her cry for petty humans.
Tomoe however looked concerned for his sister even though he hasn't seen her face he knew it was Tomoka as she was the only other white haired fox spirit.
Even though she didn't want to she kept wiping at her eyes to at least stop the tears from pouring down but all seemed useless as they kept coming,one after another they kept coming.
Tomoe couldn't do anything as he knew his so called "brother" would get mad at him so he had no choice but to keep his facade going.
Tomoka however didn't care whether or not she was called weak for crying over mortals but she couldn't help the hole inside her heart as she remembered how they had treated her before the "incident" with Tomoe.
All she had was them and Takashi but now...
Takashi was the only one left...
If he were to leave like her brother did she would be all alone in this beautiful yet cruel world.
Akura-ou having enough of this pulled her hair causing her to yelp in pain and to glare at him through her glossy eyes.
Tomoe stood up immediately while Akura-ou bared his shark like teeth to Tomoka who continued to glare at him but no longer could as his grip on her hair tightened causing her to close her eyes in pain.
She held onto his hand that kept a firm grip on her hair and cried out in pain as more tears fell from her pale face...this sight was enough to make him stop and let go as she fell onto her knees in pain.
Akura-ou felt his heart ache at the pain he had caused to his "loved" one as she curled up into a ball of pain.
He knelt down and caressed her cheek but he didn't fail to notice her shaking figure when he touched her...eyes closed as tightly as she could waited for his hand to disappear and when it did she opened her eyes and went to the corner of the room.
Tomoka sat down and hugged her knees while her figure kept trembling not because of her fear of Akura-ou but because of the memories that kept replaying in her head.
Seeing fire from both of them made her remember all the times she had used her flames to kill...the times she was with them both...the times she burned down villages one by one along side them.
Their pain filled screams echoed in her ears and pain filled eyes as they stared right into hers before going dull.
The memories that once haunt her sleep are back and this time...it's harder to make them go away.
Tomoka called Takashi in her brain as they have a connection as master and servant and asked for him to wait in the forest where he and she stayed at.
As she waited for him to arrive she had to come up with a plan to escape the grasp of these monsters and go back to the demon world.
You might be wondering why can't she just use her fire to disappear?
Well...long story short...her "master" made it nearly impossible to leave as he sat right next to her as she continued to cry silent tears while her figure was still trembling.
He only looked at her as she ignored his gaze and kept crying as the haunting memories came back and attack her mentality.
He sighed as he leaned his head on her shoulder which made her flinch and back away slowly but he just wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her which scared her as her so called "master" never did these things.
Tomoe watched as the tears came down harder on Tomoka's cheeks as she shut her eyes tightly waiting for the weight on her shoulder to disappear but looking at it now it would take forever before his "brother" woke up.
Tomoe went back to his room while his gaze was on the floor and he couldn't help but feel useless as his only job was to protect his sister but...all he ever did was hurt her even in a village he just stumbled upon.
Tomoka kept whimpering which made Akura-ou unable to sleep so he sat up straight and sighed loudly making Tomoka scared of what was going to happen as she prepared to get hit covering her face.
Akura-ou looked at her with pain written all over his face as he decided giving her some time to calm down and sleep.
He laid down in front of Tomoka waiting for her to either sleep or stop crying but judging Tomoka's shaking figure it will take awhile.
He didn't even know when he fell asleep but when he woke up he saw Tomoka's figure going into the woods so he chased her only to find her with another man.
"Takashi!We need to leave!"
The said man only nodded before dragging her master with him as he looked for a place to try to look at the bruise on Tomoka's face clearly but that was a mistake as they heard Akura-ou calling Tomoka's name.
They started running barely escaping if it weren't for the girl that helped them both and gave them a job.
After that Tomoka didn't see Akura-ou's face for a long time.
