You may think this plot premise sounds familiar, and you would be right. There is a film called 'In Time', only the timer on the wrists of those in the movie counted down to the day they died, which they could 'top up.' so they could live longer. The difference with this plot is that it counts down to the moment where you meet your soul mate. A rather lovely premise for a story!
This month's book review isn't exactly a fan fiction, but it's the closest I've ever come to reading and writing one.
I stumbled across a thread in the 'improve your writing' club in late 2014, where a group of people were talking about teaming up to create a collaboration book. The mythical book of Wattpad, often started and nearly ever finished, a collaboration book relies on the team work of many people, all working together to keep the original book ideas at the center of each story.
Hitting Zero is a series of one-shot stories, written by different Wattpad authors. Everything is based in the same world, so by the end of the book, you feel like you have traveled the world and peered into a huge breadth of people's lives. You have gone on adventures with some, self-discovery with others. Heart break, loss, love at first sight. There is something in this book that everyone can connect with and enjoy.

Each story is a chapter in the book, so it's a lovely book to keep in your library for the time you have an odd 5 or 10 minutes and want to read something, without having to stop half way through and spend the rest of the day itching to get back to it. Though of course there is always the next one to read in the evening, and maybe one more before bed...
As a writer, the greatest thing about writing short stories as part of a collaboration book is the vast array of different types of writing, different genres, even the different take on the writing brief. I decided I wanted my book to be an action and suspense story, something that wasn't obvious to the reader at the beginning of the story, I also wanted it to end on a cliffhanger- something I had never done before! Where the reader can use their own imagination to decide who they want the main character to end up being with, if it was anyone at all.
Being able to write and experiment with new genres and styles of writing through a short story and get feedback from a huge number of supportive people was great, and from the quality and quantity of the stories in this book a lot of people obviously felt the same way. It makes for a different and exciting collection of stories!
There are currently 16 short stories in this collection book and you can read them in any order.
