Chapter Six
My neck is still being stitched up when the door is flung open and Loki rushes into the room making Kira jump and slightly stab my neck with the needle.
I yelp “Ow what the fuck.”
Kira comments “Sorry Brooke Loki made me jump.”
Loki asks “What happened Brooklyn?”
I admit “Grizzly Bear bit me on the neck plus hit round the face with its paw.”
Loki asks “How do you still live if this Grizzly Bear did this to you?”
“One I was in my Snow Leopard form as you call it and two Kira is a great nurse.”
Kira groans “I’m not that great.”
I smirk “You’ll do.”
“Oh thanks Brooke.”
“You’re welcome.”
Loki asks “Why did this happen?”
I admit “Rival clan challenged Morgan for our territory and it got out of hand like it usually does.”
Loki asks “Did you win?”
I look at Loki out of the corner of my eyes since I’m not allowed to move my head at the moment.
I smirk “Not shit Sherlock that’s why we’re still here.”
“You would fight to the death for this territory.”
“No shit it’s our home it’s our clan they would kill everyone if we didn’t fight to the death.”
“Why would they do such a thing?”
“Because that’s what rival clans do when they win new territory except they would usually see if any of the last clan would go into theirs.”
Kira notifies “Nobody would submit to be in any other clan apart from this one.”
Loki asks “Why would you do such a thing why not submit and allow yourself to live on.”
I snap “it’s called loyalty to our Alphas Loki.”
Loki asks looking genuinely confused “Who are the Alphas?”
I notify “Roxy and Morgan are the Alphas of this clan.”
“Does this mean I have to do as they say?”
“Yes but you should do as I say more.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I’m the one who has to keep an eye on you.”
Kira smiles “There all done Brooke you’re free to go.”
I cheer “Hallelujah.”
I get to my feet and stretch out my arms and legs.
I hug Kira while smiling “Thank you.”
Kira smiles “No problem Brooke.”
I nod my head and turn to walk out of the door while Loki follows.
I ask “Have Skye, Esme and Athena helped you put your new clothes in your wardrobe?”
Loki notifies “Yes I believe they did.”
I point out “I still see that you’re not wearing any of them.”
“I didn’t want to get changed in their presence.”
“You could have gone into the bathroom.”
“Even so I did not want to.”
“Well come on because you’re going to get changed into something more Human.”
“But I like my attire.”
“Loki we’ve gone over this before.”
“I don’t want to.”
“Loki do as you’re fucking told.”
“I do what I want.”
“Not here you fucking don’t.”
Eventually after a lot of fighting and swearing on my part we arrive back at Loki’s room. I get him to wear a pair of black jeans and a loose fitting plain dark green t-shirt. He moaned a lot while I made him do this.
Once he’s fully out into his room again I order “Okay I want you to stay here while I go have a shower.”
Loki smirks in question “Can’t I join you?”
“Fuck off you perv.”
“You like me really you know that you do.”
“Deep down in the abyss of my soul I might like you slightly.”
“At least we’re getting somewhere.”
I smirk as I slip out of the door “Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
I return to Loki’s room after having a shower only to find that he’s reading a book that I don’t remember giving him.
I ask making him jump as he obviously hadn’t heard me walk in “Where’d you get that book?”
Loki snaps “Do not sneak up on me like that.”
I smirk in question “Does it make you scared?”
Loki objects “No it just makes me jump.”
I notify while putting my right hand on my right hip “You still haven’t answered my first question.”
Loki looks at me and scans my body from my still damp hair to my posture.
Eventually he notifies “Skye gave me the book.”
I ask “Do you know where she got it from?”
Loki shakes his head then asks “Why is there something wrong with me having this book?”
“No there isn’t I was just wondering if it’s from our library or if it’s one of Skye’s personal books. I’ll have to ask her later.”
“You have a library!?”
“Yes we have a lot in this mansion.”
“Can you show me around?”
“Sure I don’t see any harm in it.”
Loki quickly marks whatever page he had read up to then lightly placed it on his bedside table before jumping up to stand by me.
I grin “Someone’s eager.”
Loki admits “I like to take interest in the places that I am to reside in for who knows how long.”
I lead Loki out of the room and ask “So why are you here then?”
“I do not understand.”
“Why are you on Earth?”
“Odin banished me here.”
“For what reason...? Why did Odin banish you here?”
“He’s making me live a life with mortals to try and teach me a lesson.”
“Fair enough so I take this as being part of your punishment for New York.”
“Most likely... Why do you ask such questions anyway?”
“I was curious.”
Loki nods and I begin to properly show him around.
I begin “Okay well this is the third floor where there are only bedrooms. I’m not telling you who sleeps up here.”
Loki asks “How many sleeping chambers are there in this house?”
I admit “There is a grand total of seventy eight bedrooms in this house.”
“Do they all get used?”
“No they don’t.”
“Then why have them all?”
“It’s to accommodate any new clan members.”
“Do you think I’ll be able to become a member of this clan?”
“If you’re nice enough and someone sweet talks Morgan abit then I’m sure you probably could but I don’t think you would be able to follow all the rules.”
“I could.”
“You argue over whatever I tell you to do. You wouldn’t be able to follow the orders and rules of Morgan and Roxy.”
“I could if I wanted to.”
“And do you want to?”
“I do want to become a member of this clan.”
I stop to look at Loki and he stops next to me. Loki looks at me with questioning eyes.
I notify “You never showed me if you can change into the animals that the rest of us can.”
Loki asks “Do you want me to show you now?”
I admit “It might help you become a clan member quicker.”
“Why would that be?”
“Because you’ll be slightly more like us but you can only become one kind of animal otherwise it might raise questions elsewhere.”
“What would you like me to become?”
“Anything that isn’t a Snow Leopard.”
“I do not know many Midgard species and I do not know what species people like you can be.”
“People like me are called Shifters.”
“Why are you called Shifters?”
“Because we shift into animals.”
“Sounds reasonable.”
“How about I show you around the place and then I’ll let you do some research in the library about the species us Shifters can turn into.”
“Sounds like a good idea.”
I smile up at Loki and begin to lead him back to the stairs.
As I lead him downstairs I notify “Okay this is the second floor again there are many bedrooms on this level in fact there are more on this level than upstairs. There is one living room on this level which doesn’t get used much so is a good pace to get away from people if you’re annoyed but since you have to stay in my eyesight at all times you can’t use it for that reason unless I want to go in there although I might be interested in watching a movie or two in there.”
I see Loki nod his head out of the corner of my eye. I carry on walking and head down to the ground floor.
Once on the ground level I notify “There aren’t any bedrooms on this level but we have about six different offices one of which is mine. We have the kitchen which is basically used as a Clan meeting area. We have the lounge in which is widely used by everyone. We’ve got the library as well as an Arts and Crafts room. I think Thea came up with that room since she’s trying to become an artist...”
Loki asks interrupting me “Whose Thea?”
“She’s my sister. I was talking to her after we had that meeting this morning. You know the person who told you that I’d be able to flatten you before I put you on your back.”
“How could I forget?”
“Just making sure you don’t.”
“You have no worry there I won’t.”
“Anyway we have the utility room which is where we wash all the clothes etc. That’s it for this level.”
Loki follows me as I head down into the lower levels of the mansion.
Once down there I notify “This is the basement. We have the games room down here which comes with an ice cream bar. We’ve got our gym down here as well as our indoor swimming pool.”
As I head back up the stairs I notify “Outside we have the garage where all of the cars are kept. You’ve seen the garage. We’ve got an outdoor swimming pool as well as a basket ball court and a tennis court. We’ve got dirt bikes and quad bikes as well for off-roading which is fun if I don’t say so myself.”
Loki asks “How is it possible for you to have so much in one building?”
“It is a very large building.”
Loki nods his head and follows me around again.
I suggest “Shall we go to the library so you can research the Shifters.”
Loki nods his head before commenting “That would be very helpful.”
I smile “Then let’s go.”
