"This way!" David shouted as we continued to chase Moriarty. We had been searching for him for over a year and half now and finally had him just at the end of our finger tips. Right as we turned the corner there was a loud bang and David fell. I pointed my gun and fired as I watched Jim turn the next corner. I quickly knelt down next to my best friend.
"David? David can you hear me?" I said frantically as I pulled out my phone.
"Lestrade..." he croaked as I dialed 911.
"Hello? Yes I need an ambulance at...." I didn't get to finish because David had reached up grabbing my shirt collar making me face him.
"Listen Lestrade, you gotta promise me something"
"Anything"
"Take... care.... of Sarah.." he managed as he coughed up blood.
"David stay with me!" I said pressing my hands against the wound trying to stop the blood flow.
"Promise" he said coughing harder.
"I.... I promise" I replied trying not to cry. I watched as his heart stopped beating, air stopped flowing through his lungs, and the spark of life left his eyes right there, on the cold streets of Vegas.
