So far, Eira thought that Elena was okay. Elena seemed nice, but Eira thought Elena looking exactly like Katherine would cause problems. But, Elena made Stefan happy and that was what mattered to Eira. Eira thought that Stefan only really liked Elena because she looked like Katherine and she thought that Stefan would be happier with someone else. Eira would keep her opinions to herself, though.
Eira and Elena arrived at The Mystic Grill where the bachelor raffle was going to take place. They went inside and Elena led Eira over to a young blonde girl who looked like the blonde lady she saw earlier today. The girl was behind a table giving out raffle tickets to people that bought them.
Once Elena and Eira got closer, the girl took notice of them. "Hey, Elena," the girl said and then looked at Eira. "Who's this?"
"Hey, Care. This is Eira, Stefan's twin. Eira, this is Caroline," The girl's eyes widened and her jaw went a little slack at the new information thrown at her.
Before Eira could say a response, the blonde said,"Since when did Stefan get a sister?"
"Um," Elena thought for a moment. "Stefan didn't like to talk about her because she was um, in a coma and now she's awake."
Caroline just nodded her head, accepting the information. Eira didn't know what a coma was but, she just decided to go along with it. Caroline started firing off questions,"How long were you in a coma for? And, how did you get in a coma?"
Eira gulped and blurted out whatever came to mind,"Uh, 5 years. I got in a... car crash."
Elena noticed Eira's nervousness and mouthed 'It's okay'. Eira calmed down, now that she knew that she said the right thing. Her brothers didn't tell her what to say for a cover story, so she had to make it up.
Then, a blond busboy came over to where they were standing. He came closer to Caroline and she pulled him to her side quickly, and kissed him on the lips. He pulled away and said,"Woah, what was that for?"
Caroline looked at Eira threateningly, giving her a warning look. She was being territorial and then she put on a smile,"You've been hit on, like, 35 times. He's total cougar bait."
Eira had no idea why Caroline glared at her like that because she didn't do anything. But, she let it go. The blond busboy noticed Eira for the first time and asked, "Who are you?"
"I'm Eira, Stefan's twin," she smiled at him in greeting, being friendly and Caroline narrowed her eyes.
"It's nice to meet you. I'm Matt Donovan," he said being polite as well and he held his hand out for her to shake which she smiled at and shook his hand. No one Eira had met so far had been as polite as Matt and she liked that at least someone, was as nice as he was. As soon as Eira stopped shaking his hand, Caroline looped her arm around Matt's and pulled him closer.
Eira couldn't understand Caroline's weird behavior but, didn't have much time to question it because Caroline noticed someone and she called, "Hi, Ms. Donovan."
Matt's mother looked at Caroline with distaste and completely ignored her by talking to Elena,"Elena, honey."
Eira thought that was incredibly rude and she disliked this lady, seeing as she didn't like to hate anybody. Hate was much too strong an emotion for Eira. Hate was like a dark cloud that billowed around a person and seeped into the person's heart, never leaving. She didn't want that for herself.
Eira had zoned out and tuned back into the conversation when Ms. Donovan said, gesturing to Caroline, "Just kidding. Calm down. He found his rebound girl."
Eira couldn't take rudeness and she spoke fiercely,"That is no way to treat someone. You don't even know Caroline so don't judge her. She's probably a really great girl. So, why don't you reconsider how you just acted somewhere else?"
All of them were shocked at her outburst. Ms. Donovan just glared at Eira, then spoke to Caroline giving her money for the raffle tickets,"However many that will buy."
Caroline gave her the raffle tickets and then Ms. Donovan stormed off. Caroline looked at Eira and said,"You stood up for me."
Eira wore a confused look,"Isn't that what people are supposed to do?"
"Maybe before you were in a coma, but not now," Caroline said then smiled sincerely."Thank you."
"You don't have to thank me, Caroline. People should always be nice to other people no matter what they think of them," Eira spoke her opinion.
"Yeah, they should," Caroline smiled and Eira smiled, too. A new friendship was founded between them in that moment. Caroline's bitterness and jealousy towards Eira went away because she realized what kind of person Eira was.
______________
Once Elena spotted Jenna, her aunt, Eira and Elena went to go sit down with her. While they were walking Elena spoke up,"That was amazing. What you did for Care."
"I don't know why everyone is so surprised. Are people not nice in this modern society?" Eira questioned.
"No, not really," Elena spoke and Eira felt disappointed with the way the world had become. Everyone was respectful in her time and so it was hard for Eira to believe that everyone now had lost all common courtesy.
"Hey, Jenna," Elena greeted her aunt.
"Hey, who's your friend?" Jenna questioned.
"This is Eira, Stefan's twin," Elena spoke for Eira, which she was glad for because she was tired of introductions.
"Oh, your face looks like him. But, your hair is... different," Jenna stated.
Eira didn't know what to say about her hair, but apparently Elena did, "She dyed it."
"White looks good on you," Jenna complimented.
"Thanks," Eira responded blankly, as she didn't know what dye was. She would have to ask later.
The raffle started and Eira didn't pay attention to what was being said until they got to Damon. Elena waved at someone and Eira looked over, seeing Stefan in the crowd and smiled at him in greeting.
The lady introducing the bachelors spoke up,"And last, but not least, Damon Salvatore. We don't have much on you."
"Well, I'm tough to fit on a card," Damon replied to which she shook her head at. He was so full of himself.
"Do you have any hobbies, like to travel?" the lady asked.
"Oh, yeah. L.A., New York. Couple of years ago, I was in North Carolina. Near the Duke campus, actually. I think- I think Alaric went to school there. Didn't you, Ric?" Damon asked then turned to Alaric. "Yeah, 'cause I-- I know your wife did."
Eira was so disappointed in Damon, although it wasn't that surprising that he would do this sort of thing. Eira just averted her eyes to the table, not wanting to look at Damon as he kept talking.
"I had a drink with her once. She was- she was a great girl. I ever tell you that? Cause she was-- Delicious. Mmm! Mmm mmm mmm," Damon continued and Eira looked at Elena to see her eyes filling with tears.
Jenna noticed too because she asked , "Are you okay?"
"I just need some air," Elena got up and went outside. Eira saw Stefan go after her and decided to let him handle it.
Soon Elena and Stefan came back in and she got up and went over to them. Elena had ran into Damon and was saying something to him when she got over there, "....talking about my birth mother? The one that gave me up?"
"Mm- hm," Damon nodded.
"Her name was Isobel," Elena spoke and Eira finally understood why Stefan was asking about Isobel in the morning. Isobel was Elena's mother. "Go ahead. Reminisce about how you killed her."
Elena rammed into Damon's shoulder and went past him with Stefan following her. Eira looked at Damon and sighed, "She shouldn't have said that."
"Really? Why not?" Damon questioned.
"You and Stefan have both killed people. And, yet she's with Stefan," Eira explained and Damon shook his head at her.
"I will never understand how you always justify everything," Damon said and then he sighed, still disappointed that he upset Elena. "Let's get out of this hell hole."
____________
Both of them got home and Eira went upstairs to her room. She was tired from the day and so she went ahead and changed out of her clothes into her sleep wear. But, then she heard crashes from downstairs. Eira ran downstairs to see what was going on and she didn't like what she saw.
Alaric was laying on the floor, bleeding out and Damon was just watching it happen. Eira ran to Alaric and put her hand on the gaping hole in his chest to try to stop the bleeding but it was no use. Tears were pouring down Eira's face as Alaric took his last breath.
She pulled her hands away from his body and they were soaked in blood. Her hands shook as she looked at them. Stefan came into the room and came over quickly and checked his pulse. He was dead.
"What happened? What did you do?" Stefan looked at Damon.
"Do what? He attacked me," Damon justified, poorly.
"You didn't have to kill him, Damon," Eira said, standing up and Eira went to wipe a tear away and in the process wiped blood on her face. Damon felt regret course through him as he looked at her. He just seemed to be making regrets, tonight.
"All I did was tell him the truth. His wife didn't want him anymore. It's not my fault he couldn't handle it," Damon explained more.
"Like you've been handling Katherine?" Stefan threw back at Damon.
"I'm handling it fine. You know what? Isobel came to me. She found me. And if she's related to Elena, that means she's related to Katherine. Maybe Katherine sent her to me," Damon wanted to believe and so he did.
"Would you stop it? Katherine didn't love you, Damon," Eira's words hurt, but they were true.
But, Damon didn't want to believe it. "Can't be a coincidence Isobel sought me out. Uh-uh. Can't," then pointed at Alaric. "I'm assuming you'll take care of this."
Damon left the room and Stefan looked at her, "Hey, I'll take care of this. Why don't you go an get the blood off."
Eira just nodded and went to the kitchen to scrub the blood off her hands. She never would've imagined she would have to scrub blood off her hands and yet here she was doing just that. She turned the hot water and she scrubbed her hands. She came to the realization that her life would never be normal and it would always involve the supernatural, and weirdly, she was okay with that.
Stefan came into the kitchen when she finished getting the blood off her hands, "Alaric isn't dead. He had some sort of magical ring."
Eira sighed, relieved. "That's good. I didn't want him to die."
"There's something wrong with me," Eira blurted out. "I've accepted the fact that nothing for me will ever be normal. And, one day, instead of being a human, I'll be a vampire. Somehow, I'm perfectly okay with that."
"You want to be a vampire?" Stefan asked, because he didn't want that for her.
"I would never leave you or Damon because of old age. That would be cruel," Eira explained.
"Humanity isn't something you should just give up, Eira. But, you would do it for us," He thought for a moment before continuing. "Neither of us deserve you as our sister."
"But, I wouldn't want any other brothers," Eira said which made Stefan smile, sadly. He didn't want her to a vampire, ever. But, he also never wanted the day to come where he had to say goodbye to his sister. He did that once, and he didn't plan on doing it, again.
Author's Note: So I finished episode 1x15. Hope you all liked it. I'll probably update again tomorrow or Sunday.
