Chapter Forty Two

Mason's POV

I struggled against the restrainments, my eyes slowly opening, stinging as they met bright lights.

"Mason?" I heard a faint, echoy voice say my name, making me groan, tilting my head on the soft pillow that was covered with Rae's scent.

My arm pulled up, but was tugged back down. My eyes shot open, abruptly sitting up, only to be hit with pain attacking my sides. Hands placed themselves against my chest, pushing me back down. Looking around, I saw that I was in the pack hospice, one specially built for me when I go dangerous.

Wait...

"Where's Rae!" I shouted, sitting back up, ignoring the pain and the restraints.

"Mason, please. Lay back down, you aren't completely healed." I focused on the voice, recognising it as my mother.

"Where's Rae, Mum." I asked, staring at her puffy red eyes, making her look like she had been crying.

My mother struggled to find the right words to say, looking anywhere but me.

"No... I didn't do enough!" I growled, trying to break from the cuff that wrapped around my wrists.

"Mason, you did everything you could." My mother spoke, resting her hand on my forehead. "Your father has men searching everywhere for her."

"I could've saved her. I should've said no to that walk!"

"You weren't to know she would be captured by Blake. He is a creature of many powers, you couldn't have done anymore than you could."

Pain ran through my chest, making a low growl leave my chest.

"He's part vampire." Mum whispered before removing a bandage from around my forearm, showing three scars traveling downwards. "He got you twice. If it was a third, you could've been dead."

"Has Dad found anything on Rae."

Mum looked away, shaking her head slowly, "Only that she's still in our territory. If she wasn't, we would've felt it." She reached down, her hand moving towards the cuffs. "Are you calm?" I slowly nodded, breathing a sigh of relief as the chains broke from around my wrists.

"I want to see Dad."

"Mason, you're not fully healed yet."

"I don't care. Rae's my mate, I lost her and I want to find her. She's everything to me." I looked at my Mum, watching the conflict in her orbs before she slowly nodded.

"But you can't away from here for long, you need to come back to restore your energy."

Rae's POV

*The thirteen year old me laughed, chasing Mason's wolf through the forest. 'Give it up Rae, you can't catch me.' He spoke through the link, amusement in his voice.

"Oh yeah?" I raised an eyebrow, shifting into my dark grey wolf, sprinting faster towards him. A sudden burst of energy flew through me, making my senses heighten and me speed fasten. My tail wagged as I leapt into the air, trapping Mason like prey. A playful growl came from him as he rolled under me, flipping me off.

I shifted back, clicking my fingers and pointing at him, "Too slow."

The energy was still there within me, wanting to lose control and run around like crazy. Mason's wolf head tilted to the side before he shifted, frowning at me. I raised an eyebrow, "What?"

"Your eyes," He walked up to me, gripping me face in his hands, "They're glowing."

"What?"

Mason pulled out his phone, putting it on front camera before he gave it to me. Gasping, I took in my bright hazel eyes. My eyes aren't hazel! They are more of a silvery colour. My body suddenly felt drained, making me drop his phone and fall forwards, landing on Mason's body.

"Rae!"*

I struggled against the silver cuffs that wrapped around my wrists. Thankfully, the bandages were still on my wrists, giving me slight protection over the burn but not enough to block it completely. I cried out in pain, fire attacking my stomach again, still in my heat. My back and head ground itself against the wall trying to put pain elsewhere, so my focus wasn't on the fire that burned.

"You know, as much as I like to see you in pain, I need you not to drain your energy." Blake huffed, pulling up a bag.

"Then why did you kidnap me on my heat!" I snapped, growling towards him.

"You were vulnerable" he tossed something at me, something that was covered in my mate's scent. A jumper. My hands quickly reached out, pulling the jacket towards my nose, inhaling its scent. It wouldn't help of long, but it's all I have at the moment. "I ordered one of my men to get that for you so you don't die during your stay here."

Once the pain had dimmed down, I growled at Blake, "Why did you bring me here."

I don't even know where 'here' was but for some reason it felt familiar. I guess not all my memories came back when we saw Foxglove.

"To talk about the powers you and your mate... possess."

Power? I don't have any powers. I'm a Nano Blood, they aren't that rare.

"You see, the reason your body feels drained after you black out is because of a certain power you have. It's not yet complete because you don't have the know-how to do so. You have Excidium Control running through your veins, you've just learnt to control it." Blake told me.

"Excidium Control?" I frowned.

"The Latin word for destruction, havoc or chaos. But you don't understand this because your power is yet to be completed."

"So why do I feel drained after my blackouts?"

"Because you have nothing controlling the energy the flows through your veins. The reason you blackout quicker than you should it because you don't have anything protecting you from spontaneous combustion or destroying yourself from the inside." Blake fished through the bag again, producing two golden wrist sized rings.

"What are they?"

"They are for you to keep your power from kill you." Blake smirked.

"Why are you helping me?" I asked, feeling unsure of trusting him.

Blake laughed, "Who said anything about helping?"

Two men came into the cell with us, unlocking the cuffs from my hands. I quickly slammed my fists against each of their faces, preparing for any attacks.

"Now, now, no fighting. All you have to do is follow me."

"I'm not going anywhere with you." I snapped, continuing to attack the men until a power surged through me, making me drop to my knees in pain.

"I wasn't asking," I struggled to look up at Blake, but enough to see his glowing hazel eyes. "I was telling."

"W-What are you doing to me?" I choked out as I felt the power retract from my body.

"Ah, little Rae-Rae. Do you not remember when you were fourteen? I injected some of my blood into you because you were dying after some experiments."

I frowned but memories quickly flew at me, making the pain in my head increase.

*"Sir, she's not going to make it through." A man behind the glass spoke.

"What do you mean?" Blake shouted at his man.

"She's been away from him for too long, she needs blood otherwise she'll die."*

-------------------

*The electricity quickly faded from everywhere. My drained body slumped to the ground. Maylee looked through the glass, pure horror embedded on her facial features as she struggled against the guard's grip.

"Rae!" she shouted.

I flinched at the sound of the glass peeling back, letting in the monster himself.

"You feeling drained little Rae-Rae? Powerless?" Blake grinned down at me.

I wasn't sure whether to trust him or not but I nodded my head, struggling to sit up against the glass.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine soon."*

----------------------

*We had been back in our cell for an hour, many body still slightly weak from the extractions.

"Rae, you have to let me take some of the pain." Maylee whispered, crawling over to me.

I hissed at I sat up but shook my head, "It's my job to protect people, I can't let you get hurt."

"Ah, very heart warming, little Rae-Rae." Blake's figure appeared, "But protecting people means more pain for yourself." Before I could get away, he gripped my arm, stabbing a needle into my flesh before injecting me with some red liquid that looked like blood.

I cried out while Maylee screamed, "Rae!"*

"You are part of me, little Rae-Rae, whether you like it or not. I have power over you, I can control you." Blake chuckled darkly. "Now, if you please." His hands directed to the door.

Hands wrapped around both my arms as the men lifted up my drained body before pulling me along until we came to a room. A large, cylinder glass cell with metal plating around the edges was planted in the middle of the room. A control panel was at the front of the cell, benches around the sides and a bright light in the cell, making the whiteness stand out even more.

The glass doors slide open before I was thrown in, rolling over until I stopped myself. I knelled, glaring at the men who threw me. I ran towards them but the glass door was quickly sealed, trapping me. My hands where planted on the glass, growling through it at them.

This is just glass right?

I slammed my fists against the glass, but a force field struck me, making my hands burn.

Blake chuckled, "There's no getting out from in there." His hands went to his pockets, "Oh, and also, I had another one of my men visit your house."

I growled, "What were you doing there!"

Blake's hand removed itself from fishing in his pocket before revealing two stones that glowed brightly in his palms. One was green, another was red.

My eyes widened, Raven snarled 'Mum's gem!'
