MAX
The yard was filled with rowdy children running all over the place while the adults were sitting around the pool chairs laughing and talking about the Olympics that happened three weeks ago and how GB has gotten the most medals from bronze to gold. I sat by Jax as he talked with his uncle and cousin while the ladies cooed and gushed over the twins. It's been a year since the last I saw of Morgan -he was my former lover/one night stand/ booty call- and I was glad because the last thing I wanted was to have my fiancé and ex lover in the same house.
"Prince Max?" I looked up to see Hanna, one of the maids, coming over to us and I nodded
"What is it Hanna?" I quizzed and she had a look of unsureness but nonetheless said
"There's someone at the front door for you" then excused herself after I thanked her. Telling the table that I'd back shortly to which they just nodded, Jax giving me a kiss and I did the same to him and the twins before walking back inside and to the living room only to stop short when I saw the last person I expected to see sitting in one of the sofas
(Morgan)
"What are you doing here?"I asked making him jump and look up to me
"Don't make to much noise" he murmured making me furrow my brows and walked further inside only to pause when I saw him holding a sleeping boy in his arms
"What are you doing here, Morgan?" I asked again and he bit his lip. The little boy looked no older than 1.
The little boy had on a pair of light blue jeans, white knitted sweatshirt with light brown shoes and a matching knitted brow hat and scarf.
"Morgan" I said and he sighed gently rubbing the sleeping toddler's head making him stir but didn't wake up
"I know that the last thing you want is see me but I had to come back. I-I made a big mistake and I don't want my son paying for them. He's to young" he began to say and I was confused as to why he's come here when he knew he wasn't allowed but I wasn't going to tell him to leave
"Why did you come here when you knew you couldn't?" I asked
"Because my son deserves to know his other parent" he said and I frowned. Even though we our relationship was just temporary, I still cared for him as he had been one of my best friends growing up
"Who is it? Give me their name and I'll go get him so he can take responsibility" I said and he just smiled shaking his head
"I-I should have told you when I first found out" he said and I raised a brow making him take a deep breath
"I'm sorry. I don't know what had taken mover me to do what I did but I'm really sorry" he said and I was about to say something when Jax's voice filled the air making us look over in time to see him walk into the living room before stopping in his tracks when he saw Morgan and then he was looking between us with a frown
"Uh, I'll leave you two to talk" he said before walking out of the living room leaving Morgan and I alone again. I sighed thinking of a way to tell Jax that nothing was happening
"I regret what I did, Max, I swear please don't hate me" my former lover said as tears filled his eyes
"Just tell me what you did Morgan" I said and he sniffled looking down at the little boy
"Our last time together was one of the best moments of my life. I knew that that day would be our last time together so I did the only thing I thought was right at the time and poked holes in the condoms" he said and I just stared at him trying to process what he was saying and the more I understood the angrier I became. He intensionally got pre-
"He's my son"I said and all he did was whimper as he looked down at the baby in his arms
"Answer me damn it" I hissed being as quiet as I could so I don't wake the boy up from his slumber. Morgan was shaking as he silt newly cried, his head nodding
"Im so sorry Max" he cried but I was seething
"What did you think would come out of it?" I hissed and he sniffled and whimpered holding our son closer to him a way to hide himself from me
"I don't know. I really don't know what I was thinking" he sobbed but I just glared at him
"Why now did you decide to show up instead of when you had found out? We could have worked something out" I said and he sniffled before looking up at me with a chuckle
"And what about your mate? What would he have thought of it if I just showed up at the palace with a big ass stomach when he too was pregnant with your twins?" He asked and I clenched my jaw
"He would have understood and would have helped just as much as I would have. How old is he?" I asked looking at the baby
"He's almost one. His birthday is next month" he murmured and I nodded
"And his name?" I wanted to get to know my son
"Xander Mitchell" he replied and then the baby was waking up from his sleep and I noticed that he looked so much like Morgan with his thin pouty lips and button nose. His hair though was what for my attention as it was a dark brown much like mine and he had mismatched eyes. His right was green while his left was blue. Mine and Morgan's eye color.
"Mama?" He whispered looking up at Morgan who was smiling down at him
"Hi lovey, did you have a good nap?" Morgan asked and the small boy nodded before looking up at me with wide fearful eyes
"Shh love he's not going to hurt you. That's daddy" Morgan said and the sound of a gasp made us look back to see Jax standing there with wide and tear filled eyes cradling Zachary while Kenzie was holding Mathew
"Daddy?" Jax asked and Morgan bit his lip before nodding
"Don't be upset with him your highness. He didn't know that he had a son with me. I kept him a secret until now. I knew that I had to tell Max sooner or later. He didn't know what I had done and I deeply regret my decision. I purposely got myself pregnant in hopes of getting Max to be with me and raise our baby but he had already found you and I was still in denial thy I had lost the only person who cared about me. I was the one who led him to sleep with me. I did many horrible things because of my selfishness I almost teared you both apart" Morgan said as Jax and Kenzie walked in and at at my sides. Jax was beyond pissed and Kenzie looked about ready to bitch slap Morgan for what he did
"I know I have no right to ask for you to forgive me I'm so sorry. I just want my son to know that he has a family that will care and love him as much as I do" he added making me furrow my brows
"What are you talking about Morgan?"
"I'm dying" he murmured making and the other two gasp and look at him with wide eyes
"What?" I asked again
"Dying you know when you pass to the other side? Yeah I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that only attacks werewolves. The doc gave me a max of 4 months and I didn't want Xander to be alone" he replied and I felt my heart shatter. He may have made horrid mistakes in the past but he didn't deserve this. He deserved to be by our son and raise him to be a great and strong man like himself.
"I'm sure there are other forms of treatment" I heard Jax say when I tuned back in and Morgan only shook his head
"We tried everything but the cancer's to advanced for any treatment" He responded and I saw Jax tear up. He may have not known Morgan let alone like him when he saw us exiting my room all those months ago when we first met but I can see that it hurt him to see Morgan upset. To think about it I just noticed how pale and sickly white he liked. Gone were his defined cheek bones and were placed with sunken cheeks. His golden brown hair was gone replaced by a head scarf that had Xander entertained. Everything was so different from the last I saw him which was nearly a year ago when Jax and I got together and father kicked him out of the palace.
"I want you to move into the house in Doncaster" I said making him give me a small smile but shook his head
"I already have a place Max but I appreciate the gesture. All I want is to have a piece of mind knowing that when I pass that my son will still have a family to love and care for him" he said
"Of course he will and you won't die Morgan you still need to find your mate" I said and all he did was shake his head as he bit his lip with tears in his eyes
"I don't have one Max, I've looked everywhere for them but I couldn't find my mate. It's most likely that they were never born or they're dead" he said and I felt like an ass for bringing it up when it was most likely possible that his mate was dead or wasn't born yet.
"I want Xander to live with you. I don't want him to witness me at my weakest and be with me when I'm gone. Please Max I want my son to grow with you and Jax because you both are incredible and amazing parents that I know Xander will be loved" he said as he passed me the child who began whimpering and reaching out for Morgan but Morgan stood up and leaned over placing a kiss on his forehead telling him that he loves him before he was running it if the living room leaving me and Xander alone. Jax had gone to put the twins down a while back
"Shh" I whispered bouncing the crying toddler in my arms but it wasn't working.
"It's alright" I murmured rubbing his back and putting him in my chest. They say that the sound of your heartbeat calms a baby down and I hope it does.
"Max?" I heard my name being called and looked over to se my dad and brother walking in confused as to why there was a wailing toddler in my arms
"Who's pup is that?" Xavier asked and I looked down at the crying boy sighing
"Mine. Morgan stopped by to tell me that I had a son with him and what he had done. We had a long talk and he just left not to long ago" I said and father looked angry
"This is the reason why I always told you to stop being reckless" he said and I rolled my eyes standing up causing the boy to cling to me. His cries had finally subsided and was reduced to sniffles and whimpering
"I was always careful whenever I was with him. But the day that we slept together for the last time he had punctured all the condoms and intentionally got himself pregnant. He thought that if he gave me a pup that I'd be with him but then he found out about Jax. When you kicked him out of the pack he was already carrying my son" I said and began to walk out but he stopped me
"He's a bastard" and I clenched my jaw
"He's my son wether you like it or not" I said then walked away
"Jax will have a field when he finds out" my dad yelled causing my son to jump ad whimper
"It's okay buddy, I got you" I whispered and ignored my father's comment
"Where's Morgan?" Jax asked walking out of the elevators just as I was about to press the button to take us upstairs
"He left" I replied and he frowned looking at Xander
"He left his son?" He asked with wide eyes and a look of worry filled me making me wonder if my dad was right about Jax being angry
"He said that he didn't want Xander to see him as his days are counted and don't want him to be at the house when he dies" I replied and he furrowed his brows
"Poor baby" he murmured running Xander's cheek causing him to lean into his touch more. I smiled when I watched Jax smile at him
"Hi little love" Jax whispered to Xander making the small boy look up with watery eyes
"Mama" he whimpered as he looked for Morgan and it broke my heart
"It's going to be okay little dove" I whispered as we stepped out of the elevator on our floor
"Where are the kids?" I quizzed and he pointed down the hall
"Napping" I nodded and walked to the living room with Jax in tow
"So what are we going to do?" I asked and he hit the back of my head making me look over at him with wide eyes
"Raise him. Just because he's your ex lover's son doesn't mean that we can leave him out in the dark" he said surprising me
"Really?" I asked and he nodded
"Yea and that means we'll need to move out and get our own place" he said na do couldn't agree more.
"We'll look for houses tomorrow but for now let's just enjoy the peace and quiet of the house while we watch a movie with this little one" I said and he smiled nodding. My father was wrong about Jax, he's got a heart of gold and deserves to be recognized for it. I settled down on the couch with Xander on my chest and Jax cuddled on my side with the Lion king playing in the background. I went from having five children to six in a matter of weeks but I couldn't help but be happy with the family I have.
"Love you" I murmured making him look up with a grin
"Love you too"
