Tomboy of the Pack

Chapter Thirty

Rae's POV

Mason just stood there, hands stuffed into his black jeans, head bowing down like he was waiting to hear something.

"H-How" I croaked, my mind still not able to believe that he was my mate. How can I be an Alpha's mate, let alone one like Mason?! We hate each other, we've always been frienemies.

Mason looked up at me, his face full of hurt and rejection. "I don't know, Rae"

When he said my name, a shiver rolled down my spine. Mason's an Alpha, which means...

"How long have you known?"

Mason ran a hand through his hair, sighing, "Since we were three I felt a connection. And when I turned fifteen I felt it for sure.

"And you didn't bother to tell me!" I snapped, clenching my fists. He's known all this time and he didn't once act caring, act like he was my friend. He slept around, giving himself the pleasures of other she-wolves from school.

"You would've never believed me."

"And you expect now?" I growled, "You've been sleeping with other she-wolves, kissing and everything when you knew I was your mate?"

"I wanted you to reject me." He sighed, coming closer, but my feet quickly copied the movement backwards.

"W-Why"

"Because everyone I love gets hurt. Either by me or something to do with me. I didn't want to put you through the pain. But now that I've spent the last month with you, I can't bare to see you hurt and I can't leave your side for more than an hour."

Mason's eyes connected with mine, "Every night, it kills me that you aren't sleeping with me. Every night I died a little bit inside because I knew that when it came to your eighteenth, you would reject me. That's why I wanted to be with you through these years, but I beat myself up, telling myself that you would never love me."

I could feel my heart clenching at his words. Reject? I didn't know whether I wanted that. My feelings for Mason were unsure. I didn't know whether I wanted to be with him.

A heat source was suddenly in front of me, making me stumble back. I would've fallen into the lake if that hand hadn't have caught my wrist. It wrapped itself around my waist, pulling me closer to my mate.

I couldn't deal with this right now. Too much was happening and too much had happened. I had to spend time to myself for a few hours. I pushed Mason slightly before taking off back to the Alpha's house. I wiped my eyes from the few tears that had fallen, making my way up to my room, ignoring my friends in the kitchen and Emerald's calls.

"Rae?"

I looked up to find my Dad staring at me. "Have you found your mate?"

"No-Y-Yes, I don't know."

My Dad pulled me into hug, "Give him a chance Rea"

I suddenly pulled back, "You knew?"

He sighed in defeat, nodding. I stormed away from him and slammed my bedroom door closed. It killed me knowing that Mason was only on the other side of the wall, his bed opposite mine. I heard his bedroom door slam, making me finch.

I slipped off the dress, I needed a shower. Everyone knew. Everyone knew that Mason was my mate and they decided to keep it hidden from me. I felt betrayed, not only by my Dad but also my best friend. Lacey and I have always told each other everything. I may not have been very honest about the kiss yesterday, but Lacey knew that I never talked about guys that way.

'Please don't reject our mate.' Raven whimpered.

'It's undecided.' I mumbled.

'No,' she whimpered, 'I'll die if you do. I need Mason, we need Mason!'

'No, that's one thing I don't need.'

'You do, you just didn't take the time to notice.'

'You knew as well?' Now I felt even more betrayed that my wolf had kept that away from me.

'No I didn't,' Raven answers honestly, 'I just paid attention and noticed things'

'Like what?'

'Like how he's always around us. Like, why he's always protecting us, holding us, hugging us. Why he decided to do that bet on Instagram when he used a fake name and code to get all the followers he needed.'

'What?' I shouted.

'He faked it so he got to kiss you.'

'How do you know that!'

'Ace'

Mason faked that Instagram bet? Just so he could kiss me?

'He did it because he was afraid you would reject him.'

I ignored Raven. My life seems like some kind of a joke.

Roll up, roll up! See the Tomboy Werewolf get picked on by the Big Bad Alpha. Always laughing and joking with him, but he faked his Instagram account just so he could steal her first kiss!

Pathetic.

I stepped out the shower, leaving my hair to go into its natural ugly curls. I pulled on some underwear before slipping on some night shorts and an overlarge t-shirt. It was now midnight. I wasn't even tired but I decided to slip into bed. Diving under the covers, I  heard a soft knock on the wall, Mason's fist making the noise. I ignored it, snuggling deeper into the covers.

-----------------------

I don't know what woke me up, but I have a pretty good feeling it was the lightening outside. It was pouring with rain at three o'clock in the morning, the thunder startling me, making me flinch. I wanted to run into Mason's arms, but I resisted the urge.

A low growl came from my bedroom door. Tensing, I looked up to find Mason standing there. I couldn't see clearly, even with my werewolf sight, but I knew his eyes were pitch black.

"M-Mason?" I saw his fists clench as I said his name. I pulled the covers off me, wanting to go over and help him, but I was suddenly pinned back, a broad body leaning over my own. Looking up, I met Mason's eyes, gulping at how black they were.

Using my Nano speed, I shot from under him to the other side of the room. But the distance was closed quickly, as his body surrounding me, his forearms planted on the wall above my head, looking down at me as I shrunk slightly, caging my shivering body. His closeness was making Raven excitable, but a slight fear was running through me.

"Please don't reject me." he mumbled, resting his head against my shoulder. That's too close to my neck.

"I-I won't Mason" I answered honestly. I didn't want to. He was my mate, my other half.

Lips suddenly captured mine, making me remember my first kiss, only yesterday. I was shocked, but my hands found their way into is hair, Raven having something to do with it.

'Raven stop, this isn't Mason. This is Ace!'

'No' she groaned, enjoying the feeling our mate was giving us. Mason's lips kissed down my jaw, moving down to my neck, making my eyes widen.

"S-Stop." I whimpered, not ready to be marked or claimed yet.

He clearly didn't hear me and I felt his canines sharpen slightly, drawing against my skin.

"Stop!" I shouted with more authority, using my strength to push him away. Mason stumbled back, but his eyes were still glowing black.

He growled, stepping forward, making me sprint out the room and down the stairs. My breathing was heavy and I knew if I didn't get away, he would claim me too soon. A roaring snarl caught me off guard, making me trip the last few stairs, causing me to tumble down. I bit my lip and closed my eyes tightly at the pain, but stood up when my mates angry figure came to view.

"RAE!" he snarled. I backed away from him. I've never seen Mason like this before. And its a side I never want to see again, "Don't stop me from claiming what's mine!" Even Raven was slightly scared at this point.

I was backed up against the wall, Mason's figure coming closer. He was close enough that even if I did run, he would catch me.

"Mason, stop!" I heard Emerald's voice come into hearing. Her, my Dad and Franklin stood at the top of the stairs, eyes widened before Franklin and Dad moved into action, sprinting down and knocking Mason from his feet. The held him and kept him down on the ground.

Mason growled, clearly in anger. "GUARDS!" Franklin yelled. I saw Jace and Leo run down the stairs, along with Yhana and Ellis. Jace must've stayed over. Yhana and Ellis held onto their mother, fear of Mason's figure, like they had seen this before. Five guards came through the door, grabbing Mason as he got up again, shoving his Dad away. Mason snarled, clearly annoyed that he could get to what was his.

My Dad and Franklin were shoved to the ground, a low groan coming from each of them. I sprinted into the kitchen area, tripping over a few chairs on the way. Mason snarled again, his eyes seeming to glow in anger. My heart was racing and I'd never been more scared of Mason in my life, even when he was attacking to save me when we were younger. Now that anger was directed towards me. Emerald and the twins had ran over to the knocked out men, trying to pull them away from danger.

Guards surrounded Mason, looking like they knew what they were dealing with. Mason's claws came through in human form, his veins becoming visible. I stumbled further into the corner, watching as Mason ripped the guards from him.

He was going to leap. My eyes widened. He was going to claim me. As if he realised, Jace jumped from the stairs, grabbing Mason hold in a headlock. If anyone could hold Mason for long enough, it was Jace. Mason personally trained him, so they had almost the same amount of strength. Mason growled, struggling in the new strength.

"Rae." I looked to Emerald who came running towards me. Fear was in her eyes. Fear for me, fear of Mason, fear of what he could do to me at this moment, "Run!"
