1 Month Later
Kenya POV-
"I asked for a big breakfast with hot cakes." Brandon looked at the sausage biscuit and hash brown I got him.
Him, Me and O were at the airport on our way to Oxford, England. The flight would be 23 hours. Lord help me, being stuck with these two.
Jussie dropped us off and would meet us later in the week. Ssshhhhh it's a surprise. 😍
I told Dr. Thompson about my situation with O. I was just completely transparent. I told her every single thing, from how he worked his way up in football, to his injury and how devastating it has been for him. And how I needed to be there for him, because he was there for me.
She felt so deeply for my story that, she agreed he could come along for spring break and in the fall if he wanted and she would assist me in helping him find a trainer, which shouldn't be a problem because she knew soccer trainers, who might be able to train him.
The only condition she said was if he came in the fall, he had to work in some capacity. Which is understandable. I was technically there under a scholarship, and he would have to earn money for cost of living and so forth.
I let her know that, it was what we wanted anyway. Our goal wasn't to live off of her. Just that he came to support me and train so he could come back better than ever.
She said however as an early graduation present she would pay for me to bring Brandon and O, and all 3 of us could stay at her villa, which she just usually rents out. It is blowing my mind, how kind and understanding this woman has been to me. To not only bring me out there, but my two big heads as well.
"Brandon don't start. I got us all the same thing. Here baby." I handed O his food.
We were sitting in the airport waiting area.
"trick I don't care. I'm royalty." He said stuffing his mouth with the sausage biscuit. "Shit, get me what I ask for." He bit into the hash brown. "Where the jelly?"
I rolled my eyes and handed him the jelly.
"You doing okay baby?" I rubbed O's forehead as he ate.
"Yeah." He said chewing. I kissed his cheek.
His doctor cleared him to go as long as he wasn't doing too much movement. And he was at the point where he could move by himself. Albeit slowly. He still needed help here and there. But he was progressing.
"If the pain gets bad let me know, I got your meds." I told him.
I handed them each their orange juice.
"I feel like I got two husbands." I admitted it felt funny being with both Brandon and O.
"What?" Odell laughed.
"Having y'all both with me. It feels like we doing a reality show, called Real Husbands of Oxford." I said putting jelly on my biscuit.
"Well you just make sure you nurse husband 1 back to health, I still got NFL dreams after I divorce Prince Harry." Brandon said eating.
"You are such an unashamed Thot." I told him eating.
"Damn right. A Royal Thot. Don't forget it." He drank some of his orange juice.
"Odell Beckham Jr." A little boy, around 8 ran up to Odell.
"Cory come back here." His mother said sternly.
"Mom that's Odell Beckham Jr." He ran back to her.
He said something to her and she walked him back over.
"Odell me and my dad saw you a lot of games at Death Valley."
"Is that right?" O smiled.
"Yeah. You're my favorite. And that one handed catch you did was awesome. I was like whoaaaa." He said excited.
"Thank you." O said laughing from his excitement.
"I play football and I wear 13 because of you."
"Oh wow. I feel honored." O told him.
"Can we take a picture? Mom where's your phone." He asked his mother.
His mother pulled out her phone. O stood up and took a photo with the boy.
"I know you got hurt, but you'll be back. And I hope you get drafted to my favorite team."
"What's that?" O asked him.
"The Giants. You and Victor Cruz would be awesome together."
"Thank you. Hopefully." O shyly laughed.
The boy ran off with his mother, still in disbelief.
O slowly sat down.
"Imagine when they start coming in droves." I told him.
"Yeah." He blushed. "That's cool, that he remembered me."
"Those that are supposed to will. You can't play how you did and folks not remember."
"And here I am, my mama rarely recognize me." Brandon rolled his eyes.
"Shut up Brandon." I told him.
"I'm just saying. Ain't no kid ever ran up to me, except them little dusty hoodrats that be claiming they raising money for they sports team. Like if y'all don't get y'all dusty lying ass away from my car."
"Why are you so mean?" I looked at him.
"I ain't mean. It's true. Bad ass kids." He said drinking his orange juice.
"How are you gonna be somebody teacher?" I laughed.
Brandon's major was secondary education, and he had zero patience so I didn't see how the hell he was going to be somebody teacher.
"I don't know what I was thinking when I chose that. Imma need a lot of prayer and a lot of liquor to be dealing with these hoodlums."
"I ain't know you wanted to be a teacher B?" O said.
"Yeah do some good in the world since I can't catch a ball, ain't got a chemist brain and can't prostitute my whole life."
O laughed.
"Flight 564 to Oxford, UK is now boarding. We'll be taking those with A boarding passes first. "
The lady over the intercom said.
"That's us guys." I told them.
I got O's carry on, but Brandon just took it from me.
"I guess husband number 2 do all the grunt work." He said play mad.
I laughed. "Thanks B."
We headed to the line, and then we were off for our Oxford adventures.
