*Demi's POV*

I ran home and tossed my umbrella aside once I unlocked the door. The clouds grew darker and it had begun to pour even heavier than before in just a few seconds.

"Sweetheart, what-" my mom started, but I cut her off and run up stairs to my room, tears of frustration going down my face. Once I got up to my room I cleaned up the smeared make-up and breathed deeply. I stepped out to the balcony and watched the rain pour down, letting my hair and the top half of my cloths get soaked in the process. A clasp of thunder masked my loud sob

"You alright there?" said someone said behind me. I turn around and see Joe with a sad smile. Not a smirk, not a flirty smile, but a smile that holds concern. Concern for me.

“Your mom let me in, I saw you run off when Nick shouted at you.” I sighed and walked back inside, dripping.

"I-I think I'm going to take a shower. Can you wait for minute?" I said shivering. He nodded then took off his jacket and placed it on the bed. I walked up e and hugged him tightly.

"You know your soaking, right." he chuckled, his chest vibrating against my face. I giggled and rubbed my hair against him.

“Hey!” he complained, and I giggled. I pulled back to see my work. His chest was completely wet. Not soaking like I am, but still wet. The shirt stuck to his chest and revealed abs that I knew was there, but never really saw before. I felt my face get rosy and I walked past him to get to my dresser. I grabbed clean underclothing and looked through to find suitable PJ’s.

“Hey don’t worry, I know I’m irresistible.” He chuckled behind me. I threw a pair of socks I had made into a ball. He squealed like a girl, falling over on my bed. For once in a very long time, I actually laughed as he threw the sock-ball back. I swat it away, it landing on the other side of the room. He stands up quickly and grabs me, laughing, spinning me around as I squeal. He sets me down, but keeps his arm around me, as he looks down to me and smiles. I could feel my face get rosy again.

“I- uh, got to… shower.” I said awkwardly as he chuckles and lets me go. I rush over to the bathroom, shut and locked the door behind me. I breathed in deeply to calm myself down, turned on the water, and stripped my soaked clothes off. The steam of the warm water rose over the curtains then back down. I stepped inside the relaxing water. I began singing random lyrics of literally every song I knew until I settled to singing Drops of Jupiter by Train. I rinsed out my hair and grabbed my body wash when I heard banging on the bathroom door.

“It’s a yes from me!” said Joe on the other side, mocking the judges of the X Factor. I laugh, and hear him laugh from the other side. I decided to stop singing, since I was singing pretty loud and I let the small window open to let out some of the steam. Faintly I could hear someone else singing the second part of the chorus distantly. I gasp at the fact that someone was listening and I shut the window. Once I finish I step out and wrap one of the blue fluffy towels around my hair then got dressed. I shook out my hair then opened the door. I walked back to my room, but Joe was gone.

“Jo-” Joe jumps out of nowhere, shouting ‘rawr’. I scream as he hugged me and we fell over onto my bed, me on top of him. My hair fell over us, water dripping onto the duvet.

“Your mean, your know that.” I said trying to hold in my laugh.

“But you like it.” He said with a smirk.

“Don’t be so full of yourself.”  I giggled, pushing myself off of him, but his arms kept me against his chest. My head slowly dipped to him as I kissed him gently. He pressed me a bit closer and let a small, throaty moan.

“YOU BETTER NOT BE DOING ANYTHING UP THERE!” shouted my mom from downstairs. We part and my face fell to the side as I silently giggle. He let me go as I pushed myself up.

“We wouldn’t DREAM of it mom!” I shouted as Joe chuckled.

“It’s getting pretty late, I guess I’ll pick you up tomorrow?” he said, his hands in his pockets.

“Yea, if I don’t get a cold from standing in the rain.” I sighed. He chuckled and kissed my forehead. I hugged him tightly before we both walk downstairs, hand in hand.

“Mom, Joe’s my boyfriend now.” I stated bluntly. Joe looked at me surprised that I said that calmly.

“That’s nice dear, dinner will ready in 10.” She said, going back to her food. I giggle at Joe’s shocked expression as I walked him to the door.

“Well that was extremely simple.” He said, with the surprised look still on his face.

“Yea, well, it’s my dad you have to be cautious with, my mom was trying to get me to go out for years now.” I shrugged.

“Well, why didn’t you before?” he said. My heart felt like as if it stopped. A loud clatter emanated from the kitchen followed my mother’s loud cursing.

“Shit! Fuck!” giggled Maddie.

“Maddie! Don’t say that! I’ll see you tomorrow Joe.” I kissed his cheek and dashed back to the kitchen where my mom was hopping around. A huge pot rolled on the ground, one you can use to make food for large groups.

“Maddie, don’t copy mommy!” shouted my mom as Maddie softly apologized.

“Are you alright?” I said, lifting the heavy pot off the ground.

“Yea, just can you drive me to the hospital, I think I broke my foot or something.” She cringed in pain and I helped her walk out to the front.

“Maddie come on.” I called out.

“So do we leave the fire going or…?” she said, skipping out to us.

“Just leave it on low.” I said. My mom winced in pain and I helped her out the door, the umbrella in my hand. Maddie ran back to the kitchen then back out and closed the front door and I set my mom down in the passenger seat. Maddie jumped in the back and I started the car.

“Call dad to meet us there.” I instructed my mom, keeping my eyes on the road.

I got my license back home about a month back, but I really never drove. I’m extremely nervous since it’s still pouring.

My mom followed my instructions and called my dad. We finally reached the hospital ER safely, only to find that it was EXTREAMLY busy.

“Oh this is going to be a long night.” I groaned.

*Nick’s POV*

I felt kinda bad for slamming the door to Demi’s face, she was just standing up for Michelle. But she’s the one going into my business, which she has no reason to! She called me a man-whore for Pete’s sake! I rumbled to myself, slowly letting my rage out.

“Who was that?” I look up and I see Joe looking down at me from the top of the stairs.

“Demi she-”

“Why’d you slam the door in her face?” he said angrily.

“Look, she pissed me off! Stay out of my business Joe, I don’t need you in it as well.” I said back. Joe gave me a scowl and ran downstairs, pushing me aside, then run out the door. I shouted in frustration and kicked the sofa next to me. My parents aren’t home so all I heard was my own frustrated echo. I sat down and sighed. The rain started to get heavier and wet the carpet so I move over to the window to shut it. I pause as I hear someone singing on the other side, where Demi lives. She is singing loudly, probably louder than she intended. She was singing Drops of Jupiter, a song I haven’t heard in ages.

“But tell me, did you sail across the sun?

Did you make it to the Milky Way?

To see the lights all faded

And that heaven is overrated?”

She stopped there and I hear her laughing, then she stopped singing there. I couldn’t help but sing the second part.

“Tell me, did you fall from a shooting star?

One without a permanent scar

And did you miss me

While you were looking for yourself out there.”

I decided to stop then finally close the window because the wind kept on blowing the rain in my face, soaking my hair. I don’t know what is with that girl. She makes me so angry with her attitude and assumptions, yet her smile: her wide smile when she laughs, her nervous smile when she’s relived that she answered a question right in class, and that one smile she reserves for me when we aren’t fighting. I run through my fingers through my wet hair and took in the truth.

I am falling for her.
