Jean's POV

Friday morning I woke up feeling pretty run down. My whole body felt sore and my head ached terribly; it felt like I was dealing with a hangover. The thing is, I don't drink so the presumption of me being drunk was out of the question.

I looked around to find myself in my room, the windows to the left were askew, letting a gentle breeze into my room and help clean the stuffed air. I yawned groggily as I rubbed one of my eyes and checked the time.

"T-Ten O'clock!?" I gasped as I threw the blankets off my body and ran out of my room and straight downstairs. When I reached the kitchen, my mom was sitting on the furthest side of the island, drinking her usual hazelnut coffee. Her eyes wandered over to me from her book The DaVinci Code. She was really into that whole mystery/scifi stories.

"Jeanbo?" She asked me. "What's wrong?"

I grabbed one box of cereal from the high shelf and dumped a handful into my mouth. With a full mouth, I answered her through thick muffles. "I have school!"

She looked at me questionably, setting her book aside and placing her cup on the granite. "Jean? Didn't you get the alert on your phone? Today is apparently a teacher's conference so they gave the day off to the students."

I stared at my mother. She stared back at me. I placed the box back down on the counter and slowly trudged back up the staircase. As I walked into my room, I could hear the sound of my mother laughing at me. I rolled my eyes and closed the door behind me. Just then, my phone started to ring. I picked up my phone and read over the text from my uncle.

Hey squirt, tell your mom I'm coming over.

My fists clenched as I replied back with a simple K. I didn't feel like informing my mom about his personal invitation, so I laid back on my bed and waited for his car to pull up.

A half an hour went by before there was the sound of the doorbell. I opened one eye and listened carefully to the sound of my mom pushing in her stool underneath the island and make her way to the door.

"Why hello Armin!" I heard her chime sweetly. I immediately pulled myself off the bed and aggressively forced the door open. Standing there, holding one of his favorite books, was Armin. He was having a conversation with my mom that he hadn't notice me standing at the top of the staircase.

"You're probably here for Jean, right?" My mom asked, earning a nod from Armin. Armin then looked toward the direction of the stairs and saw me. He smiled beautifully at me.

"Hi Jeanbo."

I chuckled and made my way down the stairs.

"Hi Arm-out." Yes, I came up with the ridiculous nickname. I needed something to call him, and I couldn't simply let him get away with mockery of my nickname. Armin scoffed teasingly and nudged me when given the opportunity.

We both decided to stay downstairs and talk with my mom a bit. I had forgotten that my uncle was coming, so when the doorbell chimed, I felt my chest suddenly tighten to constrict my limbs from functioning. Armin stood from his feet and opened the door for us. He actually seemed happy to do it, which was rather odd. The room reeked of alcohol again as the deadbeat of an uncle walked into the room. He smiled and put up a hand.

"Hi family." He greeted. My mom greeted back and I continued to stay silent. Armin took his seat back next to me. Minutes had grown lengthy, like each minute had turned into decades. I was bored, agitated, and feeling stuffed in a closet I had already escaped from. Only half an hour had gone by before my mom stood up and smacked a hand over her forehead.

"Where are my manners! Drinks! We need drinks! Armin, will you be so kind and help me out?"

Armin nodded and stood from his seat. He gave me a smile of reassurance before following my mom to the garage to pick drinks. The room became deadly, little pricks of awkwardness and tension nipping my entire body. My body still ached from this morning, so the pain and stress took a toll over me.

"So," my uncle said after a while. He looked up at me and bit his nail. "What's the deal with her? You guys fuck buddies?"

"Her?" I asked questionably, letting one brow furrow and my eyes narrow down to him. He nodded and looked toward the garage.

"Armin. She's your girlfriend, right?"

"What makes you think-"

"I saw you guys getting pretty," He paused to gesture sexual orientation and click his tongue with an ugly smirk across his face. "During the party last week."

A bead of sweat broke from my face and the room felt crowded and depleted from oxygen. I looked around nervously, shifting my weight frequently. I had no idea what to say, to lie or tell the truth, let him make not only me but Armin a fool. My fists clenched on my lap that the sound of my tightening skin was heard strongly over the still uneasy tension. I felt myself enfeeble and break.

"F-first off," I stuttered. "Armin is a-"

I stopped myself and slammed my head on the table. My words were difficult to muster up, and I'd rather not have to tell him. Maybe he could just figure it out on his own. He patted my back and laughed hard. His laugh was real, unlike most times where mockery and sarcasm was easily depicted. Damn, I hated when he did that. I turned my face to see him smiling down at me, a beaming glow of proudly accepting me being his only emotion, or so it seemed.

"It's okay to admit you aren't a virgin. I remember the first time I-"

"Oh god! Keep that to yourself!" I screamed in disgust as I pulled myself away from his grip and him in general. Just then, Armin and my mom returned with drinks in hand. They walked in still talking to each other and laughing about something the other had said. I really wished I went with them and knew what was so funny, that made them both look so lively. Unlike me who wanted to sock the crap out of my uncle. Armin handed my uncle a cool beer, which he gladly took and opened. Armin then came and sat next to me, handing me a coke. He got himself a bottled water and started chugging it down beside me.

"So what rings you in?" My mom asked my uncle. He was currently drowning himself in that one beer, so his attention was caught only after seconds of continuous drinking. He smiled and held up the beer.

"I came in for a drink!"

After that, I pulled Armin away outside to the patio. We sat on the bench facing the backyard and stared out endlessly. A familiar chime of birds sung softly as the sun forced a heavy weight of ray beams down upon us. As the pre-summer weather hit us, having a conversation depleted to none. From inside, small talk from my family was heard only through the partially opened sliding door. My mom sounded so happy to be with him. I smiled to that a little, i loved when she was happy. She almost radiated. As Armin shifted on the seat, I looked towards him. He looked over at me and gave me a crooked smile.

"What?" He asked. I shook my head and chuckled softly. He became restless and started nudging me again like he had done earlier, whining as he attempted to get me to talk. "What is it?"

"I dont know if i should tell you." I admitted guiltily. I bit my lip and stared back out toward my patio. Two yellow butterflies landed on the grass bed in front of us. "Well, my uncle thinks I have a girlfriend."

Armin raised a brow and leaned closer to me. "Really? Who could he think it'd be?"

I chuckled again and pointed my finger at Armin. "You."

We both bursted out laughing. Armin thought it was hilarious and he couldn't control himself. We stayed like that, dying under the heat and laughing about my stupid uncle. Everything felt perfect.

I hoped everything would stay this way. Mistakes were made, sure, but everything seemed to resolve itself after a while.

This was just a lead up to next plot(MWAHAHAHAHA).
