I am staring with teary eyes at my father's golden watch which has stopped working a week ago. I don't know where I can fix it.

Like my mom's purple blanket gives me comfort, this broken watch makes me feel the fatherly love I am devoid of.

I suddenly bump against someone and the watch falls down from my hand. I bend down in a failed attempt to catch it, but I am too late.

The glass dial is broken into a dozen pieces. My hands shake when I messily try to pick up the small shards.

As I am done gathering them, something catches my eye.

They are a pair of shoes.

Navy blue sports shoes.

I have seen them before.
