I woke up to a mass of black fur, warmth, and sun's light boring into my eye sockets. I let my eyes adjust and looked around my room, but I had almost forgotten about Cüron sleeping next to me last night. When I turned around he was facing me in a usual curled up dog position with his face next to my own.I quietly got out of bed, trying not to wake the demon hound sleeping on my bed, and getting ready for the day ahead.
* After a hot 30 min shower *
' Whine[scratch], [scratch]whine ' at my bathroom door as I got out of the shower and beginning to get dressed.
' Man, I'm not sure if that's a demon hound or a big puppy ? ', I think to myself as I turn the door handle.
"Good morning.", is what I hear right as I open the door.
"Hi", I say with a lopsided smile, " What do you want buddy? "
"I was wondering where you where. Plus I'm hungry.", Cüron says with as much innocence as a child.
"Ok, let me do my hair and we'll go to the cafeteria for breakfast.", I say turning to the mirror and grabbing some hair ties.
"Ok.", is all that he says while jumping on the bed to wait.
"Can I ask you some questions?", I ask him not turning to him.
"Sure, but to be honest I may not be able to answer all of them.", he says.
"Ok, but why?", I ask looking towards him and back to the mirror.
"If you don't mind I'll like to keep that part personal.", he says with a sad/scared look on his face.
"Ok, so ... how old are you ? Cause I know that wolves like you can live like up to a couple hundred years.", I say almost done with my hair.
"I'm 20. But everyone says I act like a 10 year old.", he says with a 'matter of fact' tone in his voice.
"Wow I'm older than you. Umm... do you have any family?", I ask cleaning my bathroom counter.
" {chuckling} wow I never expected my new friend to be older than me. Ok umm.. I have a younger sister, a mom and a dad.", he says getting up from the bed and walking to the door, sensing that I'm done with my hair. ( this is the outfit she is wearing for this chapter.)
And we walk out of my room to the cafeteria. As we walked I kept asking questions and he kept answering to the best of his ability. On our way some agents said ' hi ' or ' good morning ' to us and we acknowledged them.
" Oh no way, you can do that !! You've got to show me !! Oh hi !", Cüron exclaims with some excitement as we enter the cafeteria.
" Hey you two so, show who what ?", Hellboy asks while eating a glazed doughnut.
"Hey um.. he just wants to see some of the things that I can do that's all. So what's for breakfast?", I say to them while rubbing my hands together.
"Well there's doughnuts, apple tarts, cereal, danishes, and I think some fruit.",Liz says reading the paper.
"K thanks. So what do you want buddy, cause I'm getting a tart or two.", I say while grabbing a plate.
"Mmmm... is there any watermelon?", Cüron asks while looking around the table.
"Ugh I think so. Mmm ... yes. Hey Uncle can you pass the water melon please.", I ask Uncle Abe.
* After Breakfast *
"HEY MANNING!!! What's up?", Hellboy yells across the cafeteria to where Manning was walking in with files in his hands.
"Hello team I have some files, and questions for you on last nights mission. I alsooooo... AAAHHHHHH!!!", Manning starts but then spots Cüron laying on the ground licking the blow that had held water melon. But once Manning screamed Cüron jumped in mid air and ran behind me.
"Whoa ,Whoa, hey Manning he's ok he's with me. He's not going to hurt you or anybody.Ok?", I say while standing up to comfort Cüron.
"What is that? Why is that thing here? How did it get in? And why are you defending it?", That is all that Manning said and Cüron ran out of the cafeteria with me on his tail. As I ran after him I herd the team follow, but after a few twists and turns we lost him.
"Ok we need to split up ugh.. mom go back and tell Manning what's going on, dad you go to the lower 10 levels, uncle can you go to the upper 6 levels, and Erin go to the jails, training rooms and sleeping bunks. I'll check all the places that I KNOW that I've showed him. Keep in touch and inform each and everyone of us and fellow agents of what's going on.", I say and we break up to all of our designated areas. I checked my bedroom, the garage, the training room and even for some unknown reason I checked the kitchen with no sign of his presence in any of the places.
" Cüron ! CÜRON!!! Come on he won't hurt you I promise ! Come on out !", I yell as I ran in the hallways looking for some sort of sign.
"Do you guys have anything?", I ask into my earpiece.
"Nope."
"Negative"
"Not here"
"An agent said he say something go down hall 39"
"Ok I'll check there you guys keep looking elsewhere.", I answer as I start making a bee line to hall 39. Hall 39 is a hall that leads to a few places like a meeting room, a file room, and I think ,last time I checked, a hall leading to the prison cells. As I'm running to the first door in the hall I sense this feeling that he's somewhere with many books. The only room with books is on the first floor. I don't tell the team where I'm going I just go to room 51 the library. When I got there I slowly opened the door and quickly scanned the room. It was surprisingly empty and there wasn't anything out of place except the lighting. It was significantly dimmer. The fire was blazing in the fireplace, the lights were on but it was dim for no reason. I went in and inspected the place but still didn't find him. I looked under a few desks/tables, behind Abe's tank thing, on the second level of books, the room above the stairs, even under the chairs. So I sat down and just cleared my mind for a moment.
'Ugh he's gonna make me use one of my powers. Well let's get this over with.', I think to myself while rubbing my head gently. So for you guys that don't know what I'm going to do I'll tell you. Basically if I think of someone or something I can see where they are and I can find them it's called Psychic Navigation. So since I'm in short range I'll know exactly where Cüron is. As I close my eyes and begin to clear my mind I hear the door open.
"Artemis, what are you doing just sitting there? You do know that..", Erin begins to say but I interrupt.
"Shh... I am looking for him just in a different way.", I say not even opening my eyes or moving from my position in the chair I am siting in.
"What do you mean? You're just sitting there.", I hear dad say. Now I open my eyes and look at him.
"Well I have powers. Didn't Erin tell you, we both do. I was going to show you guys and Manning today after we asked Cüron some questions.", I say with a bit of disbelief and a puzzled look on my face.
"No, he didn't tell us that either of you had powers.", Mom says looking between Erin and me.
"So what power are you using to find Cüron?", asked my uncle trying to change the subject.
"I'll show you.", is all I say as I come y eyes and clear my mind completely of the situation and focus on Cüron. As my mind turns black and the image of Cüron takes form my mind begins to swirl with colors here and there then I see where he is.My eyes flutter open and I get up to where he is.
"I know your there buddy, come on come out no. Ones going to hurt you, promise.", I cue him out of hiding and he comes out of thin air, quite literally.But all he does is put his ears back, tail between his legs and puts his massive head on my chest like a child looking for comfort. And I deliver it.
"You have a mind power.", Abe says when me and Cüron walk them.
"Yes but I also have a few more. And so does Erin and apparently Cüron here is a shadow wolf.", I say while looking at Erin and Cüron.
"Yeah.", they say at the same time.
" So what powers do you two have?", asks Hellboy. Me and Erin share a mischievous look and grin with each other.
