You have been dating Laxus for several months, but never showed much affection in public. Laxus wasn't the type to flaunt about having you as his significant other. It bothered you for a while, but this was how your boyfriend was.
When it was just the two of you, he acted completely different. He showered you in affection and refused to let you leave his sight even for a second. To the world, he was a fearless mage in Fairy Tail with no weaknesses. In your eyes, Laxus was a normal man who cared about you, the man he fell in love with over the years the two of you had gotten to know each other.
As the holidays came up, you were requested to be on a mission. Instead of being home with Laxus, you were far from home to help a bickering couple settle their late son's assets. Anyone could have done this job, but because you knew the couple from your first mission as a mage they would only take you.
The sun had faded away behind the dark mountains and the moon rose into the sky to shine light into the dark streets of the small town. In the room you were staying in, you were feeling homesick. Normally, you spent Christmas on missions because you had yet to have been dating Laxus. Being away from home was alright with you back then, but things were different. The distance between you and Laxus put a toll on your heart.
Was he alright? Did he even care? What if he found someone else and would forget about you before you came back?
Tears fell down your warm cheeks as these questions plagued your mind.
"_____, I brought you some---sweetheart, are you alright?"
You looked up seeing the mother of the late son holding a tray of tea wearing a worried expression on her face. Never had you had someone walk in on you while you were crying. Not even Laxus!
"A kind, young man like you shouldn't be crying when the holidays are right around the corner."
"Thank you, but you don't need to worry about me. I'm just thinking selfish things."
"Nonsense! I know a sad soul when I see one."
She sat down beside you and wiped away the tears that had started to seep into your skin.
"My son used to hide his tears from people. He feared that people would treat him differently if he showed the world that he preferred men over women. His father was rather stunned when he found out, but we loved him still. I accepted him fully into my heart. When I look at you, I see my son from time to time. The look in your eyes right now, you're missing someone."
As if she had flipped a switch, more tears fell from your eyes.
"I want to go home for Christmas this year. I want to spend it with Laxus and just have the day to ourselves. No one to bother us, no Freed to barge in...but I have to spend another Christmas away from home. Is it wrong of me to think of something so selfish?"
She wiped your tears away with a gentle smile a mother would give to her crying child. Her hands held your own before her voice broke the sounds of your sniffling.
"Then go to him. Spend Christmas with your significant other. My husband and I can finish the last few things together. A young man like you deserves to be home with his loved one and do all the selfish things together because you both love each other dearly. There's no need to have a broken heart anymore. You can go home, ______."
Only more tears fell as your arms wrapped around her. This woman was kind to you upon the first meeting and you treated her as your real mother. She was much better than your actual mother. Your birth mother had ousted you for finding men attractive, so having someone give you kindness for who you were and allowed you to be selfish broke you, but it made you happy that there was someone else, besides Laxus, in this world who approved of who you were.

Laxus looked at the gifts he had bought for you under the Christmas tree in the loft the two of you shared. He felt lonely without you there. The built man wanted to go after you and pull you away from your mission, but you always enjoyed helping others, especially around the holidays.
Was it wrong of him to think of these selfish thoughts of having you home for Christmas?
The more he thought about you, Laxus could feel his chest tighten up and the area around him felt empty. There was no laughter or even the sound of you humming in the kitchen to make some hot chocolate for the two of you to bring the place to life. The holiday decorations was just a facade to this place that a happy couple lived here.
Laxus couldn't bring himself to leave the more he thought about you. The world meant nothing without you. His life would have no meaning. He thought it had meaning before, but then he got to know you and it was you who taught him that no one should be ashamed for how they feel towards other people.
"Love has no boundaries after all..."
His whisper broke the silence for a moment before it vanished in the emptiness of the home he shared with you. As the silence took over again, tears fell down his cheeks. Quoting something you've said to him many times over the years only made him miss you even more. The pain of not having you in his arms was unbearable that it was tearing him apart. Why couldn't you be home for Christmas this year? Couldn't you have made this one exception? It was the first Christmas the two of you would share as a couple, but you had to work.
Laxus hated it, but he couldn't hate you for it. No, he could never hate someone as kind hearted as you. He loved you too much to ever muster up hate towards you!
"If I can't hate you, then why am I so damn mad?!"
His tears fell onto the floor as he struggled to find the answer within his mind.
Christmas was a time to share with loved ones, family. Laxus could just go and spend it with his grandfather, but he had done that many years prior to this one. He wanted to spend this one with you and many more with you. The frustration within his body only grew as he couldn't find the answer he was looking for.
"Laxus? A-Are you crying?"
His head shot up and there stood the man he had so desperately wished to be home.
"_____, you're early."
A laugh escaped your lips. Music to his ears and the medicine he needed to mend his broken heart.
"Yeah...I'm home, Laxus."
He gave you a gentle smile and gave you a warm hug.
"Welcome home, ______."
Several tears started to fall from your eyes as he held you. He was the man you wanted to be with today.
"Merry Christmas, Laxus/_____."

A/N: I mean it when I say I want to thank you all for sticking around with me. This is the second Christmas I've had on this site where I write Christmas themed stories for all of you readers. Originally, this wasn't Christmas themed and I was having writer's block. I've been sick as well and developing as a person slowly. I'm not the perfect person and I was a little toxic yesterday towards some people, but that's only because I'm irritated about something. Today, Christmas Day, is a day I should let go of my problems and be grateful that all of you, here, have stuck with me and this book. I am a reader, writer, streamer, moderator, student, sister-figure, daughter, and girlfriend. Most importantly, I am an imperfect human being. I can't please everyone nor can I accomplish every wish I want to make true. We all are growing as people and should make today the day we accept each other as who we are no matter how different we are from one another. Make small goals that are reasonable to reach a bigger goal. Become a better you.
Haha, I'm still kind of emotional honestly. Heck, I'm still listening to Home For Christmas and I'm still on the verge of tears. The song speaks to me on an emotional level even though I'm always home for Christmas ^-^;
As a writer, I'd like to thank, personally, not only my readers, but some authors here on wattpad. I may not know them personally or have drifted apart from them, but I still want to show that I appreciate them for the hard work they do by providing a world I can dive into to escape reality just for a little bit.

How can I not thank her? We've drifted apart, but things like this happen. I decided to take a full schedule for the Fall semester and she started college. Even though we don't talk much, I still cheer her on from the shadows. I silently shower her work in praise. She's been successful as a writer and has become a better version of herself. Wherever this new year may take her, I hope it'll take her to happiness in some way and to get her one step closer to a self that she can cherish forever, if she's not already there. Thank you for staying strong through all the hate you've received. Thank you for being strong. Thank you for making that little game you made for Kuroko no Basket on tumblr. Thank you for being apart of my life despite how we have never met in person, for just talking to me. I may have reverted back to a fan/reader than to be a friend, but that's okay. I'll still cheer you on from the shadows silently and be proud that a young, beautiful woman is making her mark on the world in some way that brings her some joy.

I'm not sure how I found her, but her book Knight Star had brought me back into a series had lost in touch with since middle school. Karneval is a world that just feels fun despite how dark it is. The way she writes is truly captivating! Sometimes, I can't read when she updates and I fall behind. When I catch up, I feel so excited about what would happen next and her new book is just as exciting as Knight Star. If you're interesting in Karneval, or are wanting to find an outstanding Karneval fanfic, Knight Star is something you should read. I think I was inspired by her when it came to leaving it to the readers to decide who the main character ends up with at the end for my book More Than Bargained For. Although, my system was different from her system. Regardless, she has inspired me to continue writing a book with a plot line rather than just write one-shots (Note: this book came out after I started MTBF). I hope school is treating you well and that you continue to grow as a writer/author. Thank you for being an inspiration to me. Thank you for being you.

Her Game of Thrones book series started off amazingly! She followed the first season to the tick while still adding her own twist through her characters. This was also an inspiration to me. Now, sticking to the original story while adding your own twist is difficult work. Knowing the exact words they say is key, but not everything is followed because the main character that is focused on in the story has to have their own twist to the world. It's not the same as just watching through a screen as these people live their lives. I respect her as a writer and author. As of right now, I know there has been no updates for book two, but I understand we all have a life outside of wattpad. We all get busy and forget. Sometimes we just don't have the inspiration to write or have major writer's block. There's even the part where we don't want to write simply because we don't want to. I will be patient as I have been for the next update. Thank you for being an amazing author/writer to the Game of Thrones community. Thank you for being an inspiration to me.
Now that this is off my chest, I feel I have a clear mind. With that, I'm going to maybe get some sleep, call a friend later, send happy wishes for Christmas to people, spend time with my mother (who is sick atm), and possibly watch more D. Gray-Man before season 2 comes out...and hopefully we get an actual release date somewhere around the corner :)
