Chapter 5- One hell of a headache.
I laid in a groggy state in and out of sleep the whole way back to the pack house. After we got to the pack house Dr Sarah was waiting. Luke put me on the couch and I almost screamed. I could hear Kevin keep whispering I'm sorry over and over again, and man was it annoying! I growled at him to shut up then the Dr poked my leg and turned my growl to her. "OOOWWW!" I snapped. She quickly gave me something for pain then numbed the area and started to stitch me up. By the time she wrapped my leg up; I had a goofy smile on my face and spouting random things off at them all. "Hey Kevin, I totally kicked your ass bro! Ha-ha! I'm a Jedi master!" I snickered. He rolled his eyes like a girl.
"You think you're so funny don't you?" He chuckled.
"Yeah, you fight like a girl!" I giggled. I and my big mouth were writing checks it couldn't cash again.
Luke chuckled while Kevin rolled his eyes. I looked at Luke and before I could catch my mouth it spoke my thoughts "your Purdy" I slurred at him causing a laugh from everyone in the room. We fell silent for a few moments and I couldn't help but link Luke
'Psssttt...Anyone home?' I asked. He smiled at me.
'Of course. Any particular reason you ask?' He responded.
"I have a song stuck in my head since we left my secret bat cave.' I said softly.
'What's that Doll?' He asked still smiling at me. I think he was waiting for me to spout something crazy off but I didn't. I took a deep breath and turned my head to him, his eyes locked with mine, while I silently sung. 'When the waves are flooding the shore, and I can't find my way home any more, that's when I... I look at you. When I look at you, I see forgiveness, I see the truth, You love me for who I am, Like the stars hold the moon, Right there where they belong, And I know I'm not alone' I had no idea why they were in my head they just were. His eyes brightened a bit,
'Thank you.' he said. His smile was all it took to make my wolf purr... Damn slut. I thought.
'Hey Dopey, I am not a slut! He may not be our mate but he sure as hell acts like one so let me enjoy it while it lasts please. You will push him away soon enough and I won't have any more moments like this, probably NEVER with the way you're going...mate or not, ya big prude.' My wolf huffed at me.
'Hey I am not a prude, I just pick and choose. I don't want my heart broke or end up like we did 3 years ago. Almost killed us both.' I told her.
'Yes but we are stronger now.'
'Oh shut up would you. And I am not Dopey'
'Whatever you say' Then she was quiet, but I could still feel her lightly purring in the back of my mind. I rolled my eyes but let it go.
"Question for you... where did you learn to fight?" Luke asked his voice out loud shocked me for some reason.
"Oh Cause I'm a girl and girls can't fight? "I snickered.
"No, I'm just curious cause you took him down with very little effort in the end."
"I had no choice, I'm a ninja with Zen powers. I hoped he would hold control but he didn't." I turned to Kevin "don't you know you're supposed to be at ONE with your wolf and not lose the grip on him? If you could talk to Yoda like me so you would now this. Such a baby he is." They both looked shocked trying hard not to laugh.
"Um you didn't answer me. "Luke said still holding his laughter in.
I tried to remember his question but for the life of me I couldn't. I giggled as the Dr. finished my leg up. "Remember the question I don't. Repeat it you must" they both finally laughed and I smiled wider until, Even Sarah smiled as she worked on me. I looked at the Dr. as she moved to my arm. I hissed as she set it and wrapped it in a sling.
"Where and when did you learn to fight?" Oh that was it. I laughed as she poked me with numby stuff on my cheek. I felt a pinch but it didn't faze me any.
"I'm a ninja don't you know that?" I said as the numbness spread through my face. I couldn't help it; I blew raspberries through my numb face and giggled. Dr Sarah scolded me to hold still while she stitched my cheek. I didn't understand why we stitched things up we would heal in less than 24-48 hours any way.
"Seriously though, where and when?" Kevin asked this time stifling a laugh.
"At ninja school." I said with a serious face. He rolled his eyes.
"OK new approach, why did you learn how to fight at 'ninja school' Eva?" Luke asked trying not to laugh at my words. "Cause a douche bag tried to hurt me once. I didn't want to be weak anymore." I told them.
"Alright when did you start training?" Kevin asked.
"Almost 3 years ago. Why do you ask such silly questions young pad-wan?" I said as Sarah finished with my stitches.
"Alright sweetie, I'm gonna give you something for pain and it will knock you out it will take about 10 minutes to take effect though." Sarah said with a kind smile. I nodded with a smile, already droopy from the first dose she gave me.
"Eva, why did you not go for a kill shot when you clearly saw his wolf was?" Luke asked me once Sarah gave me my happy shot.
"Cause I couldn't, his wolf had complete control and needed to be shut down. I'm not going to hurt my brother over our stupid pride. The cheap shooting bastard. "I said laying my head back. I could feel the meds starting to take effect.
"How though? Your wolf had control too." Luke said. I rolled my head to look at him.
"I told you already, me and her had a talk. After that we could think as one. We are connected better than most alphas, we know right from wrong and though she wanted his hide on a platter, she knew it would hurt me, in turn hurt her. We are one with the universe." I slurred out. My eyes were heavy now but I still held his gaze I smiled and broke away. I looked at Kevin "I'm sorry, I didn't want too. You're a great big Meany, and I needed you both to see me for who not what I am." I said quietly. I turned back to Luke "I'm sorry I got hurt but please don't order me...to..." I trailed off as sleep started to close in on me. I pried my eyes open and looked at them.
'I've had a song repeating in my head as well.' Luke said in our link.
'Whasss that?' I slurred and tried not to smile.
'Close your eyes and I will sing it to you...'
'K...Ohhhh' I smiled and listened to him. I was still awake when he spoke his next words out loud. Most likely for Kevin and Sarah's benefits more than mine.
"Get some sleep; we will talk about it later." Luke said.
'I'm...Waiting....' I whispered in his head.
He returned a snicker. 'All right bossy boots....

Then I could have sworn I heard him flood my mind with his voice saying 'you will be a great Luna.' Then silence. I let the meds take over completely as my wolf purred at the sentiment.
*Luke's POV*
Once I knew for sure she was asleep, I stopped singing. I got up and I picked her up and took her to her room. Once I laid her on her bed and covered her up. I kissed her forehead and reluctantly walked back down the stairs. I stand by what I said about her being a great Luna. With heart and drive like that, she will be a great leader. Sarah was working on Kevin's leg when I got back in the living room. "Well, I would say she's high. What was she singing there at the end?" Kevin laughed.
"Yeah young Yoda has had a long day, and it was Nickleback, Lullaby. Must have been stuck in her head" I snickered, if he only knew it was me putting it there. Kevin only smiled though.
I stood in the door way and waited for Sarah to finished wrapping him up. "Well since I'm no longer needed, if you'll excuse meeting I'm gonna go wash up and go home."
Sarah said. I nodded.
"Have a nice night." I said dismissing her. She bowed her head a gathered her things and left the room, a few minutes later I heard the front door shut softly. I sighed and sat down. Though my wolf wanted nothing more than my betas blood, I knew better. I was torn between my best friend and my mate and it really sucked. He knew what happened was wrong and he was wearing the face of a broken man.
He never looked up at me as he spoke. "I didn't mean to hurt her." His voice cracked. "I didn't think she wouldn't back down. I thought for sure she would have thought it through before getting there. Had I known she would have taken it that far I would have never accepted? I guess the kid is a ninja Yoda under it all." he said.
"I agree with that." I chuckled at his use of her terminology for herself. "You also know she is just like you, she has pride and she won't back down until she either wins or admits defeat. This time she knew she had the upper hand on you. Ninja indeed but only when threatened. You should have seen from my stand point. I saw the skill she has and you experienced it. Strange though why she felt the need to be trained by her 'ninja master with Yoda skills' "I chuckled as I used her words.
He sighed."I know why Luke and so do you. I just didn't know she had it in her. "He said looking up at me.
I snickered humorlessly "She has always had greatness in her Kevin. You just chose not to see it." I told him with a glare.
"How can you be so sure?" He asked.
I smiled. "Because I know what her future holds. She is a strong leader and as my..." I stopped there knowing I almost let it slip that she was my mate. Kevin looked at me strangely as I cut off my sentence.
"My what?" His eyebrows shot up as he waited for my answer. I sighed "my Betas sister. It's in her blood to be a leader." I corrected myself.
He didn't look like he believed me but nodded and accepted my answer anyway. Man it's been one hell of a day and I hate to say it but they both give me a headache sometimes. I just wish I could get her to understand I'm not going to hurt her. I remembered the song she sung and smiled. I knew our bond was growing and it was only a matter of time.
'She feels it too you know, she's just been hurt.' My wolf said softly.
'I know, I just don't know what to do.' I told him.
'Win her over, before she recognizes us as her mate. It will make the bond stronger and it will be easier for her to accept us.' He said.
'I agree. We need a plan'
'yes, you do. But don't fuck it up or she will run. I can feel her hesitance towards us. She will be fighting the whole way through. You will have to break her defenses down and show her you love her. Make her fall, then once you catch her, she will see us through a new light, then on her birthday she will fall all over again knowing it was real the whole time.' His words made me smile.
I agreed with him. I wanted her to love me, no matter what but he was right if she fell before her birthday, it's more likely she would accept us the moment she realizes who I am to her. I fought myself about going upstairs and lying with her just to be close to her. But I knew she would flip in the morning and Kevin would flip out now. I was going to have to settle for knowing she was safe and sound tucked in to her bed.
"You alright man?" Kevin asked. His voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Yea why?" I asked.
"You were zoned out for some time." He said, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Na was just talking with my wolf. Was thinking Eva would be a great new trainer for the guys and how much they would love that." I chuckled. They would be pissed. She annoyed the hell out of them but I knew with her skills she would whip them in to shape in no time.
"Oh hell, she will kill them! On second thought, yea do it... better them than Me." he laughed.
"I will never hear the end of it... like she said she is obviously a Jedi master. Those were some skills I have never seen before." I looked at him.
"Yea no shit! I was spun through loops when she pinned me. Hurt yes but I gave it to her willingly... even more shocked she gave it back."
"You and me both, but love and pride makes you do things you wouldn't expect. And she's always surprising us." I smiled at him.
"Yes she is, but something is different about her. She seemed more confident when she came home today...I don't know. Where did you find her?" He asked me.
I hesitated on my answer for a moment. "Running in the woods" I lied. "We had a little talk then we headed back. How do you know I found her?" I asked.
"I could smell you on her when she got back. There was only one of 2 reasons she would smell like you, either she was with you, or she was 'WITH' you and I don't think it's the latter of the two. You wouldn't do that, so yea, just deductive reasoning." He said watching my reactions closely. I nodded at him. Well hell this was going to be harder than I thought. How the hell was I supposed to win her over and make sure my best friend didn't hate me? Fuck, now I had a migraine. This is going to be one hell of a week...
