“Have I mentioned how slow you are?” Saph said sardonically to me as I climbed down the stairs to receive our guests; Saph was already at the bottom of the stairs, staring at the clock, it was almost quarter past nine- I knew they would be late.
I rolled my eyes darkly, “About twelve times since I got back from the store Saph, I get the point!”
“Obviously not,” she muttered under her breath.
I pursed my lips at her- the purple dress that Saph had put out for me had not made it any easier to walk- it was a high necked 1960s style collar and ended just a few inches about my knee, and it was practically skin tight might I add.
She’s been on about how it took us an hour at the supermarket since the moment me and Blade stepped into the house carrying bags loaded with whatever Saph had ordered us to go get- Blade was carrying most of them, I just had the teeny tiny bag containing you know what in my back pocket. The only thing he let me carry was the bag that was filled with napkins. As amiable as it may seem, I grumbled a lot- all he did was smile genuinely at me, pick up the bags, and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, while slipping the bag into my back pocket before heading back into the house.
I opened the door wide, and Ari practically leaped at me, “CARE BEAR.”
He had me in a tight squeeze, and I patted him daintily on the shoulder, I wheezed, “Ari you might want to let me go.”
“Why?” he said animatedly, crushing me harder.
“She probably can’t breathe you cartoon,” Blade said as he suddenly appeared, pulling Ari off of me.
“I was just showing the love,” Ari pouted.
Layla came and wrapped an arm around his waist, “Don’t worry chere, you can’t show me the love anytime you like.”
Shaun coughed loudly, putting his hands tight to his ears, “Layla, not in front of me for God’s sake!”
“You think he would have gotten used to this after four years,” she exclaimed scowling, before turning to me and greeting me with her usual charming smile.
But she complied, and stepped slightly away from Ari, reaching down to grab his hand instead. He smiled down at her tenderly, and she seemed to return the gaze.
I sighed. They look perfect together.
Jayden just then came around and thumped me on my head; I rubbed my head, “Ow! What was that for?!”
“It’s New Year’s Eve!” he exclaimed merrily.
I looked at him pursing my lips, “And that causes you to hit me on the head because…?”
“He’s a freaking lunatic of course,” Damien said, Valerie clutching his arm lightly, looking around timidly.
“Hey Damien!” I said jovially.
“Quick noticing I’m here Cara,” he chuckled.
“Well, I was too busy being attacked and thumped on thank you very-”
I didn’t get to finish my sentence.
“Am I the only one waiting upstairs for all of you?” Jake hollered from the top of the stairs, an irritated look on his face.
Oh crap.
“Sorry Jake! We’re coming up now,” I bellowed back.
I ushered everyone up the stairs, and closed the door clicking the lock shut. I felt a hand lace into mine and I whipped my head around quick- Blade.
“Oh hey,” I said, my free hand on my heart, “You scared me. I thought that I sent everyone upstairs, well thought really that Saph probably dragged you up.”
He laughed, giving my hand a squeeze leading me up the staircase, “Actually she hinted me to give you company.”
I cocked an eyebrow up, “Really now?”
We were at the top of the stairs now, and he stopped me and cupped my face in his hand, “Really.”
He seemed to be searching for something in my eyes, I couldn’t understand why; it already felt like he could he into my soul, “You look gorgeous Cara.”
I smiled shyly, “That’s like the third time you’re told me that today.”
“For all the different clothes that you wore today,” he smirked slightly, hinting the towel incident from the morning.
“Thanks I guess…” I said, my voice trailing off looking down at my pumps.
Blade frowned slightly at me, “You don’t believe me?”
I bit my lip, “Its nothing like that.”
He took his hand off my cheek, and twirled me with the hand that was holding mine, “All I see here is plain gorgeous, you’re the most people person in the world me to me, Cara.”
Then he brought my face up so that I was looking back into his eyes. I was crimson, “Thanks Blade.”
A door creaked open down the right corridor, and Ari’s head popped out, “Are you two love bugs going to come inside and have some fun with the lot of us,” his smirk flipped into a smirk, “Or are you two going to go have some fun of your own.”
And he went back inside without another word.
Blade rubbed the back of his neck, “Excuse his perverted nature- he’ll never change…”
I gave him a small smile, “That’s alright, I’ve kind of gotten used to it now. Er… Shall we head in then?”
He looked a little torn, but smiled at me, “Sure, let’s go.”
When we got inside the games room, still hand in hand, I really couldn’t believe my eyes, and I put my hands on my hips boggling at Saph, “Did you honestly think I wouldn’t notice you doing shots right in front of me?! I thought I told you no alcohol!”
Saph looked at me bored, “Its not alcohol shots, chill, they’re sour lemon shots.”
“Sour lemon shots?” Blade questioned.
“It’s pretty alright actually,” Shaun commented, wiping his mouth, “Virgin shots. Who would have thought of the day? I mean seriously, it’s quite hard to drink lass, we could make a game out of it.”
And with that he headed off to the corner where Jayden and Ari were having a heated match of Foosball. The three girls were sitting in the bean bags near the pool table laughing at some joke that Layla seemed to be telling them. Damien and Jake were sitting on a couch in front of the television, watching… I looked up at the tele- The Santa Clause, I sighed- that movie never grows old. I pulled Blade to the other sofa, a smaller one, where Blade and I would have to sit practically knee to knee, shoulder to shoulder.
Blade sat down, and pulled me onto his lap.
“Um… Blade, maybe that’s not a good idea when everyone’s around,” I whispered, chewing at my lip.
He nuzzled into my neck, whispering back, “It’s alright, it’s not as if anyone here will judge you, they all know how close we are, baby girl.”
“I suppose that’s true enough,” I nodded slightly agreeing, getting comfortable, kicking off my heels elated, and snuggling closer to him.
I heard him chucking, “You want a drink?”
“But I just got comfortable,” I whined jokingly.
A glass of fizzing coke appeared in front of me, “Here you go.”
My eyebrows scrunched together, “Where on Mars did you pull that out from?!”
He laughed, “Magic, now drink up.”
“Sure it is,” I took the glass from his hand and gulped half of it down, and handed it back to him, “Thank you!”
I pinched his cheek, and he grinned, his dimples showing clearly, and he drank the rest of it down, and put it aside, next the tray full of cups of coke.
“You lied to me!” I glared at Blade accusingly.
He looked at me stricken, “What about?”
“You’re not magic at all!” I exclaimed, poking my tongue out at him.
He grabbed it, “You’re so cheeky, Cara!”
“Amd bour ah paan ina thee ash,” I replied as best I could with his thumb and forefinger holding my tongue.
“What was that?” He grinned jokingly.
“Ammmd bour ahh paan inaa thee ASH!” I exclaimed trying again, and he let go of my tongue, not wiping his hand on his shirt, “There are tissues you know.”
He pulled me back into him so that I was sitting sideways on his lap, saying simply, “It’s just your saliva.”
I bit my lip, stopping myself from retorting.
We watched the rest of the movie in peace, well with the occasional whooping whenever Jayden or Ari made a goal at their game, and the girls giggling away at their gossip. Oh, and almost at the end of the movie Saph kindly interrupted, by asking softly in my ear, “Where are the condoms Cara? I didn’t find them in the bags that you brought in.”
I looked at her in slight alarm, “Why do you need them?”
Blade heard this of course; Saph looked at me teasingly, “I don’t, I’m just asking.”
That bitch!
I scowled at her, “They’re in my bedroom. I forgot to bring them since you made me change into this.”
“Stop complaining, you look absolutely stunning,” then she added with fake realization, “Hey, and look-y there, it totally compliments Blade’s eyes, don’t you think so, Blade?”
Why didn’t I realize this before? I cussed in my head.
“Incredibly.” He agreed, his arms tightening around me.
After then the movie ended quite quickly, I missed my favorite part too, but that didn’t matter to me much. I could watch it any time I wanted to.
Saph then cranked up the music. She had arranged the sofa’s in a fashion where there was enough space to dance in between for all of us, which was really made everything easier so we wouldn’t have to move any furniture around. She dragged Shaun to the floor and started dancing with him- he looked more then willing. Ari, Layla, Damien and Valerie soon joined them.
My stomach grumbled, and bit my lip slightly embarrassed, but Blade didn’t pass it off, “Come on Cara, let’s go get you some food,” he said, lifting me to my feet, and then getting up himself.
I found the food table immediately, and found what I was looking for, and rushed towards it, “NACHOS!”
“You could have told me before that you were hungry,” Blade said slightly huffily.
I stuffed a nacho into his mouth before he could say anything more.
“I wasn’t hungry, well I didn’t even notice I was hungry until my stomach spoke to me,” I said sheepishly, “Now chew!”
We stood there eating nachos, and Saph’s amazing salsa, oh, and the finger sandwiches until I was stuffed. I slumped back onto the table patting my stomach, looking completely satisfied.
Blade looked at me laughing, “For such a tiny person you eat so much!”
“I have a high metabolism rate!” I sniffed.
“I didn’t say anything against it, I’m glad you have a good appetite,” he smiled, and kissed me on my head affectionately.
The music changed, and the atmosphere changed too. I looked at the clock- it was about a half an hour to midnight. It was Iris, by the Goo Goo Dolls. Everyone was dancing on the floor, even Jayden and Jake who were fake slow dancing, laughing quietly, chatting.
“Wanna dance?” Blade asked, holding his hand out to me.
I placed my hand in his, “Yes.”
Blade’s eyes were dancing, and we circled into the floor, and started dancing ourselves- how ironic. He pulled close towards him, and I let go of his hand and wrapped my arms around his shoulder. His hands were placed at the small of my back, as he pulled me close to him not even a millimeter between us. I rested my head on his chest, as we swayed to the music. It would have been the perfect moment, if I had been wearing my heels, but I guess nothing’s perfect in that way.
He was murmuring the song into my ear; I could feel his hot breath tickling my skin. Goosebumps arose on my skin, the nice kind, and I felt so content.
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight…
And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am…
It was over all too soon, as Sapphire spoke, “Holy crap guys, it’s just about a minute to midnight!”
Oh my sweet Jesus! Where does the time go when I’m with Blade?!
“Everyone find someone to snog, quick!” Ari grinned, looking especially at me.
I groaned internally.
Blade stepped a bit back from me, his breath coming out a little strained, “Thirty seconds to midnight.”
It would just be a quick kiss, right? I mean we’re nothing more then friends… Right?
“Fifteen seconds,” he gave a quick glance down at my lips; my arms were still around his neck, hanging loosing.
Someone put the television on quick, and then came the countdown. We all spoke in unison with all the people we could here on the television,
“Ten,”
“Nine,”
“Eight,”
“Seven,”
“Six,”
“Five,”
“Four,”
“Three,”
“Two,”
I didn’t say one, I couldn’t, and neither did Blade, he did it a second earlier; it was as if he has been waiting a lifetime for it. He kissed me with full force, both his hands came up quick to hold my face, and I staggered back a few steps. It took me about a second to respond, and I kissed him back with just as much passion. My hands had gone up to grasp at his hair, and I could feel his hot breath in his mouth. It was the most amazing feeling in the world, it was as it butterflies had erupted from the pit of my stomach, and it was him- just him and me, not with all our friends, just us, alone in our own world.
We parted only for air; he rested his forehead against mine and pecked me on the lips one more time. His chest was heaving as was mine. I could practically feel the eyes of the others boring into us but I didn’t give a rat’s ass. His eyes were a lighter shade of purple then usual, it was odd they way they change shades like that.
“Happy New Year!” I heard it repeatedly being said.
Blade wiped his thumb across my lips, “Happy New Year, baby girl.”
“Happy New Year, my Romeo,” I kissed him once more.
He seemed to glow, and he never let go of my hand. Not ever when we got back from our moment of total fervor, and hugged our friends, or ever when I helped pour out the champagne, and toasted the New Year to each other.
“Hey, its snowing pretty hard out there, I don’t think it’ll be safe driving,” Jake said peering out the window.
I perked up, “Its snowing?! Well, there are more then enough rooms for all of us, you guys can stay the night, or you can just wait until it dies down a bit and then bounce.”
“I’m staying,” Blade whispered in my ear, before kissing it.
I blushed, as shivers ran down my back.
They all seemed to agree, and even after another hour chatting, the snow didn’t seem to be dying down.”
Ari and Layla got up, “Me and Layla are turning in,” he turned to me, not looking tired at all, “do you mind showing us to the guest room?”
“I’ll show you! I’m, um, turning in too,” Saph said, with a quick look at Shaun, who was smiling awkwardly, “Damien, want me to show you your room too?”
“Sure,” he said shrugging getting up, Valerie following yawning after him. They all left in a hurdle.
I turned to Blade, “Wanna go? We can chat in my room? Or sleep of course, if you’re tired.”
Blade stood up pulling me up with him, “I’d stay awake the whole night chatting with you, you know that.”
I chewed on my lip, it seemed like a common habit tonight, I looked at the boys, “You two will be alright? I’m leaving you showing Jayden to one of the free guest bedrooms Jake!”
“Yeah of course, we’re just going to hang here for awhile, and then head in,” Jayden said, grabbing the bottle of champagne and downing the last few drops of it.
“Alright then,” I said quickly, giving them each a hug before letting Blade lead me out the room, and back up the corridor to my room.
We were standing right in front of my bedroom. Blade bent down and kissed me deeply, gripping onto my hips steadily and backed me up against the door. The fire in my heart started up again, and I pulled him closer to me digging my fingers gently into his shoulder.
Blade took one hand off my waist, and fumbled with the door before backing me into the room.
He clicked the lock shut.

Did NOT think I would be able to update today. Yay me =p. My arms are tired, and its 2 20 am. I still have to wait for my best mate to get his fine ass online, so I will not be writing much over here. I know it isn't that much of a long chapter, but it has good substance, well at least I think it does.
OH and YAYYYYY THEY FINALLY KISSED. I wonder how many of those comments I'm going to get. Lol. Don't get too excited, you're going to hate me in the next chapter, I was going to put that part too in this chapter, but it felt so complete. Oh and the big question.... Did something happen after the lock clicked shut =p well you'll have to wait for the next chapter =p
