-Kyra's POV-
It's been so long that I've actually lost count of how many days I've been like this. Ana and Niall haven't left yet and once I wake up I swear I'm gunna give them medals or something, from what I've heard it's been pretty boring for them.
Ana had gone to get Niall a coffee not too long ago so it was just me and him, I could hear typing and the occasional ding so I guess he must be on his phone.
"Mikey had to leave for tour last night, I think he's still on the plane right now actually, he's flying back to Australia. He said that he loves you so much and that he'll try really hard to see you when they get a break, but he still doesn't know when that will be." a chair was pulled closer to me and Niall's hand wrapped around mine- this became a regular thing when we were alone or Ana went to sleep.
The door opened and the warmth around my hand disappeared quickly, signalling that it was Ana who had returned.
"I got a large. Breakfast is being served in an hour. I don't care what you say to protest, whether she can hear us or not or whether she is awake and knows we are here, we are giving her time to herself. Okay?" Niall hummed in response, the fresh smell of coffee filled the room and I was bummed; I'd kill for a large coffee or hot chocolate right now but obviously that's impossible. By the mention of breakfast I knew it was around 7am, it was always served at 8am sharp- kinda sad that I knew that..
"She'll wake up soon Niall, don't worry. The doctor said a week maximum, which means we have 2 days left. I bet if she saw your state right now she'd got nuts, go and have a shower of something. Just make yourself feel better because right now you look like death." Ana's caring voice spoke quietly. I felt eyes looking at me and I guessed that it was Niall mentally weighing out his options and mentally telling me not to wake up while he's gone.
"Okay, I'll be quick.." the door opened and closed which signalled that Niall had left. Ana signed before the chair moved slightly which told me that she was sitting down.
"He loves you, you know? It's been around 5 days and he hasn't left once for more than 5 minutes. This will be the longest he has been away, unless he has super quick showers.." she laughed quietly. My mind wondered; I was trying to figure out whether this classes as sleep or if I'm going to be really tired when I wake up. Weird I know, but I'm trying to distract myself from what Ana is saying.
"5SOS released a song last night, it's called 'Voodoo Doll' and Calum messaged me and asked if I could show it to you when you wake up, he says that gives light on a few things within the first few lines." I gave no reply, but I physically couldn't. Ana didn't speak again. It's been like this for a while; one of the two would talk to me and then get bored because it's not a proper conversation.
I've gotten used to the constant beeping and I can tell that when it speeds up, I'm closer to waking up as I can feel it. This was one of those situations, the beeping grew louder and more frequent and I nearly felt the ability to open my eyes but it wasn't there completely yet.
"Hurry up Niall.." Ana mumbled to herself, she could tell that it meant a lot for Niall to be here when I woke up but if he took any longer he would miss it and he would hate himself. Ana stroked my hand and began speaking again.
"Roxelle is worried sick, she would love to visit you but she has a known fear of hospitals and everything to do with them and she didn't want to breakdown in front of anyone.." I could tell Ana was becoming bored and more worried every day that past, it killed me that I couldn't answer or tell either of them how much I appreciated everything her and Niall are doing for me.
Niall soon re-entered and the only way I could tell was his thick Irish accent that filled the room.
"She woken up yet?" He voice showed hope but a little concern was evident.
"Not yet, but the beeping increased so it shouldn't be long." Ana replied quickly, removing her hand and moving away which allowed Niall to take her place.
"Okay." his voice lowered and I heard footsteps come towards me, a hand held mine and I could tell that it was Niall, he probably doesn't care that Ana was still in the room now.
"You love her, don't you?" I almost wanted to laugh at Ana's knowing tone in her question that she knew the answer to.
"Yep, have done since I first saw her" I was surprised that he was being truthful about it towards, I suppose you could say, my stepmom.
"She's complicated, I suppose you've seen some of the things that come along with her right? The attacks?" I knew Niall had no idea what Ana was going on about and I prayed that she would drop the subject at least until I was awake and could talk for myself. The conversation was soon dropped and silence filled the room once again, every now and then Ana would check the time and announce how long they had until breakfast was going to be put out.
"We have 10 minutes Niall, I'm going to the bathroom and I'm going to go straight there, I'll meet you at the table." I think Ana could tell that Niall wanted to be alone.
"I've got to go in a bit Ky and I want you to not wake up while none of us are with you cause that would ruin it wouldn't it?" His accent got thicker so I could tell he was getting emotional. I heard a sniffle and instantly knew that Niall was crying.
"I just want you to be okay, as soon as I saw that it you at the gym- I didn't know what to do or what was going on. I was so scared, still am.." his voice began cracking and I wanted to just open my eyes and tell him that everything will be fine, but of course, my body had different ideas because I stayed mute and blind to everything around me.
"Feel so stupid right now, here I am- crying and letting my emotions out to a girl I'm in love with and met less than 5 times. Oh and just so you know, I don't care if you still love Mikey okay? He still loves you and I know how happy he made you and I wouldn't want to come between that." I felt a soft kiss on my cheek as the presence beside me slowly left. I heard a door open and close quietly and I knew I was alone with only the constant beeping and my own thoughts for company.
-An Hour Later-
Apart from the occasional nurse coming in to do my checks, I've been alone. It feels like this is the longest they have been away but that's probably Ana's doing; she is set on giving me time to myself, which I quite honestly don't want.
The beeping has been the same throughout my alone time which means that I'm no closer to waking up.
A murmur of laughter brought me out of my thoughts, it sounded like Niall's laugh; loud and contagious. A door opening and closing signalled that it was Niall and Ana arriving back in a happy mood.
"Her doctor said that she should be waking up at some point tonight, the checks that the nurses done while we were gone signalled it, but I have no idea how." I was happy that the two of them were happy and not moping about waiting for me. The smell of food entered my nose and I wondered why one of them would want to unknowingly torture me considering that I couldn't eat.
"Why'd you bring some food up? You've eaten." Ana stated and I could tell that she was smiling slightly, she chuckled a little before awaiting his response.
"For Kyra, incase she wakes up. Wouldn't want her getting hungry." my heart almost exploded at his thoughtfulness that is backfiring on my part.
"Okay well on that note, I'm going to go and check up on Robyn and just make sure the house is still in one piece. I'll be back by tonight at the latest." no words were spoken before the door closed. I didn't feel the warmth around my right hand like I usually did so I wondered if Niall went out with her to say goodbye or something but that thought was dismissed when a phone beeped.
"God sake Cal, can't you wait till she wakes up?" Niall muttered aloud, a typing noise made it clear that he was on his phone replying or something.
"Hey Cal, yeah I'm okay.." I heard a slight murmur of a voice which I presume could only be Calum.
"Yeah she's holding up, doctors say that she'll be waking up within the next few hours or so. I've actually wondered if she can actually hear us, I mean, would anything I've said gone a different way if she could reply?" So Cal knows about Niall's crush on me?
"You can if you want to, it's not an actual conversation though and I'll be listening." Niall chuckles and I hear Calum's laugh echo through my room which means that he's on speaker.
"Hey Kyra." Sup Calum...
"I hope you're okay, I've been told you're fine but I just wanted to tell you directly." jeez thanks..
"Everyone misses you loads." even Michael?...this whole talking subconsciously isn't the best I have to admit..
"When you're awake, you're gunna have to kick both Ana's and Niall's butts cause they won't show you our new song, I promise you that when you listen to it you'll understand more of a certain situation that arose a while back." I would love it if you would shed some light on that 'certain situation' Calum..
"Right I have to go, bye Ky, bye Ni." bye then..
The silent conversation was over before it even began, it was refreshing to hear a different voice considering I've heard the same two for the past 5 days or so, even if it was just Calum.
-10 Hours Later-
This whole 'Not-Being-Able-To-Speak-Or-See' thing is slowly making me crazy, like completely insane. It's been dead silent since the call from Calum and I've just been talking to myself in my mind for I don't know how long. Niall went somewhere a few hours ago, he didn't state where he was going or when he'd be back, he just left so I figured that he'd got so bored that he just had to leave to understand what life actually is since the same same four walls for a week can't do much good to a person.
Some loud voices outside of my room caught my attention a few minutes ago and I've been listening, it seems someone wasn't happy and trying to find someone.
"Where is she? She's missed 4 important shows and let down a load of fans! She is slowly ruining a career that has just started!" An Australian accent became thicker, it was definitely a girl.
"Miss, you're angry so I am not allowed to let you see the person you request." why are they so formal around here?
"I have a right to know what's happening! She has literally just started a very important tour which I am apart of, if something has happened to her I need to know!" This girl was quickly becoming distressed but I was yet to figure out who she was.
"I am required to ask you to leave the premises-" these people seriously need to become less formal..
"It's all over the news that she is here and everyone is seriously worried about her, and I was stupid and said some pretty harsh things to her so I just want to know what's wrong because it's obvious something has happened.." her voice softened and cracked in some places, it was obvious that she was crying or on the verge of it.
"Is she in here?" The voice was louder which told me that she was closer to my room, bangs on the door made my heart stop.
"No, what are you doing?!" I was shocked to hear Niall shout, there was some running footsteps before anyone spoke.
"..you're Niall..Horan.." I guess she's a fan..
"Yeah I am. You are?.." Niall seemed very confused right now and so was I to be honest, not being able to see what's happening or anything surely doesn't help.
"Dani Hall, what are you doing here?" Dani? she doesn't know that I know Niall..well this is gunna go down great, I can feel it..
"I'm visiting a friend, she's in this room." I hoped that he would just leave it at that and direct her away from here.
"Oh okay, I won't disturb you any further." phew..
They spoke quietly for a minute or two before Niall excused himself and entered my room, breathing deeply before sitting down beside me.
"I'm sorry I left unexpectedly, I just needed alone time, you know?" At the sound of his voice the beeping increased, it did this enough that it caught the attention of doctors and various nurses.
"That's Niall Horan's friend! Is she alright?" I almost wanted to shrink at the sound of Dani's concerned voice.
"She's waking up." they don't beat around the bush do they? Very to the point kind of people.
"Kyra? Can you hear me?" I couldn't help but feel like we've been here before, the flashing light happened again so I knew that it was similar to last time.
I groaned loudly while rapidly blinked my eyes open only to be greeted by bright white lights and a plain white ceiling.
"What- Kyra?!" Dani spoke with surprise. I could tell that she was being held just outside of my room but she could see everything.
"She needs oxygen!" A plastic, clear tube was placed around my head and small tubes that were connected to it were attached to my nose, blowing constant oxygen, assisting my breathing.
"Now, take deep breaths for me through your nose Kyra. Keep breathing." a kind-looking nurse told me while holding me upright. A monitor began beeping loudly.
"Don't worry, it's just your heart rate slowing." so no one is concerned about that? Okay then.
"Okay, her breathing is stable but she should stay on oxygen for the night and we should see how she is tomorrow morning." the various doctors began filtering out slowly. Niall was in a corner looking pretty scared.
"Oh my god Kyra.." he breathed as he made his way to my side.
"Your throat started- like spazzing or something, you couldn't breathe.." I didn't have a response so I stayed silent.
"Kyra?" A soft voice spoke at the door. Dani showed pure fear and shock as she slowly walked in, not walking past where the door stopped.
"Yeah?" My voice was incredibly croaky and I hated it, I felt extremely weak too and all I wanted to do was sleep.
"Why are you here and what was that?" I was waiting for the sarcasm and remarks but they never came, only worry and concern. I shook my head violently before leaning into Niall.
"Nothing, I'm fine.." I instantly felt warm in Niall's embrace which I loved, I closed my eyes and began to get comfortable.
"You're not, obviously. Why are you in the hospital?" I stiffened and I could tell that Niall noticed because he stepped in.
"Listen Dani, it's been a long day and I'm sure Kyra wants some sleep. Can we please talk about this tomorrow or something?" He remained calm and collected. I yawned shortly after which helped my case of not answering her.
"We have a show tomorrow Kyra and you've already missed 4 massive gigs. Tomorrow nights show is the last one in Cali before we move to LA for a show then we leave for London, you can't miss it!"
"Right now, I'm in no state to perform and I think that's pretty clear from the fact that I need help with breathing.."
"Why are you here in the first place?" She doesn't give up, does she?
"I have..reasons.." I was hesitant because she could go and announce it to the world.
"Which are?"
"Which are personal, she doesn't have to tell you. Visiting hours are over and I think you should go.." Niall's voice caught me off guard. Dani huffed but left with no further arguments. There was a moment of silence before Niall spoke.
"So, how does it feel to be awake?" Niall's complete mood changed and he seemed happier and I couldn't help but smile.
"Fucking amazing." I said slowly. I wanted to laugh but I would become severely breathless and I didn't need that considering that I was on breathing support.
