Lounzel's POV
My pigeon, Kevin and I are playing hide and seek. I also win, but he's really good sometimes. Haha! NOT! I always find him! I opened my window to the outside world. "HA!" I didn't see him but I know he's there, he's behind the flower pot. "Well I guess Kevin isn't out here..." I heard a giggle, yes Kevin can giggle. I wrapped my hair around his foot and picked him up. "Gotcha! So that 22 for me. How about 23 outta 45?" He sighed and frowned. I laughed at him. "Okay... Well what do you wanna do?" His faced brighten and flew out away from the tower but I grabbed him before he goes out too far. "Yea I don't think so. I like it in here and so do you." He stuck out his tough at me. "Aw come on Kevin it's not that bad in there." I pulled myself back into the tower and get ready for chores. I open the windows first then chores.
9 AM, the usual morning lineup
Start on the chores and sweep 'til the floor's all clean
Polish and wax, do laundry, and mop and shine up
Sweep again, and by then it's like 9:15
And so I'll read a book
Or maybe two or three
I'll add a few paintings to my gallery (which is all over where you see wall)
I'll play guitar and knit
And cook and basically
Just wonder when will my life begin?
Then after lunch it's puzzles and darts and baking
Paper Mache, a bit of ballet and chess
Pottery and ventriloquy, candle making
Then I'll stretch, maybe sketch, take a climb
Sew a dress! (For Mumther not me. She loves it when I sew for her)
And I'll reread the books
If I have time to spare
I'll paint the walls some more
I'm sure there's room somewhere
And then I'll brush and brush
and brush and brush my hair
Stuck in the same place I've always been
And I'll keep on wanderin' and wanderin'
And wanderin' and wanderin'
When will my life begin?
And tomorrow night
Lights will apear
Just like they do on my birthday each year
What is it like
Out there where they glow?
Now that I'm older
Mumther might just
Let me go...
I have always dreamed of going to see the floating lights but mumther said it's too dangerous, but I'm turning 18 that is old enough right? I finished up a painting of my looking up the floating lights outside and sighed.
"Lounzel! Let down you hair!" There's my cue when mumther comes. My hair is 70 feet long so I always throw down my hair and she holds on. I feel her pulling it that means she's ready. I pull her up to the window. "Hello Lounzel." She said walking in.
"Hello mumther" I hugged her and she kissed my head.
"Lounzel, darling, can you sing for mummy? Mummy is feeling a little sore." Mumther said stretching out her back.
"Yes mumther just sit down and I need to find a hairbrush. I will be right back." She sits while I try to find a hairbrush. I looked everywhere and finally found one on my dresser.
I sat infront of her and started singing very fast
FLOWER GLEAM AND GLOW,
LET YOUR POWERS SHINE,
MAKE THE CLOCK REVERSE,
BRING BACK ONCE WAS MINE
WHAT ONCE WAS MINE
"LOUNZEL! How many times did I tell you to slow down?!" She scolded me.
"Sorry mumther but tomorrow is a very special day.... IT'S MY 18TH BIRTHDAY!!!" I handed her some tea I made for her.
"Oh yes your birthday. What do you want for your birthday?" She starts to take a sip of tea. Here goes nothing.
"I want to go outside and see the floating lights!" I blurted out. She spits out her tea I made her.
"You want to go outside? Why, Lounzel...!" She places down the tea cup and closes the window.
'Look at you, as fragile as a flower
Still a little sapling, just a sprout She patted my head
You know why we stay up in this tower?
"I know but..." I started
That's right, to keep you safe and sound, dear
Guess I always knew this day was coming
she pulled the curtains shut
Knew that soon you'd want to leave the nest
Soon, but not yet.
"But --"
Shh!
Trust me, pet
Mother knows best.
(The tower is so dark I had to lit a candle while mumther was singing)
Mother knows best
Listen to your mother
It's a scary world out there
(she was behind me making a scary motion with her hands that made me scream.)
Mother knows best
One way or another
(Something pulls on my hair and I fell over but mumther was there to catch me before I landed on my bum.)
Something will go wrong, I swear
(She started makings hand shadows that look very scary)
Ruffians, thugs
Poison ivy, quicksand
Cannibals and snakes
The plague
"No!"
"Yes!"
"But --"
Also large bugs
(I got hit with something and I troubled forward landing near mumther's picture)
Men with pointy teeth, and
Stop, no more, you'll just upset me
Mother's right here
Mother will protect you
Darling, here's what I suggest
Skip the drama
Stay with mother
Mother knows best
(It's very dark so I let some candles but they burn out right after I light them, that's strange)
Mother knows best
Take it from you mumsy
One your own, you won't survive
Sloppy, underdressed
Immature, clumsy
(I trip on my hair and faceplate on the ground)
Please they'll eat you alive (Mumther rolls me up with my hair)
Gullible, native
Positively grubby
(My hair is pulled so I'm untangle from my hair but now I'm dizzy)
Ditzy and a bit, well, hmm vague
Plus, I believe,
Gettin' kinda chubby
I'm just saying 'cause I wuv you
Mother understands
Mother's here to help you
All I have is one request
I ran into her arms as she held me close. "Lounzel?" She responded.
"Yes?" I looked up at her.
"Don't ever ask to leave this tower again." I look to the floor as she glared at me.
"Yes, Mumther." I said in defeat.
"I love you very much, dear." She lifted my head back up.
"I love you more." I said smiling.
"I love you most." She kisses my forehead.
Don't forget it
You'll regret it.
Mother knows best.
She bopped my nose and started to put on her cloak. She wrapped herself up with my hair and I started to lower her to the ground below.
"I'll see you later my little flower." She called up to me.
"Yeah. I'll be here. As always." I sighed letting my hair blow in the wind. Just like every other day. Sitting in this tower with Kevin and no one else, doing everything again, 5 more times before night hits.
