The smell of a good meal filled the air. He tossed veggies into a pot of chicken noodle soup, letting it bubble away. Another pan sizzled with a tasty piece of salmon, seasoned just right. The kitchen turned into a tasty haven, a sign that Zach was putting his best effort into making a meal that would be more than just food for Evangeline.
Zach couldn't help but chuckle, picturing Evangeline savoring the meal he had cooked just for her.
When he was done cooking, he plated the food nicely and placed it on a tray with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
He went back upstairs and unlocked the door to their room and went inside. He quietly placed the tray on the bedside table and carefully leaned down to the peacefully sleeping Evangeline, kissing her lips.
"Baby, wake up. I made dinner." He whispered softly.
Evangeline stirred from her sleep, slowly opening her eyes to find Zach beside her with a tray of food. The delicious aroma filled the room.
"What's all this?" she asked, still half-awake.
Zach smiled, "I thought you might be hungry. I made your favorite—chicken noodle soup and salmon. Plus, a little orange juice."
Evangeline's eyes widened in surprise as she took in the sight of the beautifully plated meal. This was the first time Zach had ever cooked for her, and the unexpected gesture left her genuinely shocked.
"You cooked all this?" she asked, suspicious and hesitant.
Zach nodded, a hint of pride in his eyes. "Yeah, thought I'd give it a try. I wanted to make something special for you."
Though still quite surprised, Evangeline found herself savoring every bite of the meal that Zach had prepared.
