We had all gathered up in Tako's room planning the day out. We had realized how all summer we have yet to go to the beach when it was only an hour away. We kind of just decided it out of the whim.
"Okay so who's driving? Because I don't do well with driving long distances." I voice out making myself comfortable in the couch. I finally healed from whatever sickness took over me. Over the past two days Roman had been staying over nursing me back to health. Still shocked that he didn't get sick.
"The girls are automatically ruled out, there's 3 guys so we can split it between ourselves. Plus it's only an hour away so it shouldn't be a hustle," Theo spoke out. I snicker and lean into Yon.
We decided to rent a travel bus so we could all fit. Plus all the snacks and food we were bringing. Roman had offered to drive. The seating arrangement was decent so I couldn't complain. I was in the passenger seat, because I'm a passenger princess. Tako and Theo were in the backseat. and Yon and Jeno in the last row.
45 minutes into the drive, I feel like my bladder is about to burst. I intentionally didn't drink water before we left because it's as if my body knows I'm going to be stuck in a certain place for a long time so it decides to act up.
"Hey can we stop by a gas station, I really need to pee," I whisper quietly to Roman. I felt guilty asking because we've all been in the car for so long and I'm only extending the trip. He nods in acknowledgement.
"We're going to stop at a gas station real quick, I need a bathroom break." Romans announces to the car and there are a series of hums. I look up at Roman and I don't know if I should kiss him or not. I know asking to stop at a gas station isn't something you should feel guilty about but the fact that he said that he needed to use the bathroom, when it was me, just made me giddy in the belly.
A few minutes later he parks in a local gas station. I quickly unbuckle my seatbelt and make my way to the bathroom. I hear footsteps behind and turn to find Roman walking directly behind me.
"What?" I questioned.
"Just want to make sure you're safe." He responded and I couldn't help but smile up at him.
We make it to the beach and I take a huge whiff of the salty air. There's something always soothing about going to the beach, you know minus the part where sand gets in places it's not supposed to, but I digress.
Yon and I walk down the beach to find a place we can set up. "I think that spot is pretty good, don't you think?" Yon asks pointing to a rather large spot.
I nod in agreement and we make our way there. We set up the blankets and cooler down. The boys had stayed behind to find a good parking spot while we had decided to come down. After 20 minutes went by I was starting to get worried, it shouldn't be taking them this long to find a parking space.
I decided to text Rom just to make sure everything was okay.

I wait for a few minutes but I still don't receive anything. I hear a buzzing from my phone and I quickly look at it to only be disappointed.
I decide to not think about it too much. I mean Yon doesn't look really worried so why am I worried. After fidgeting a little bit more I turn to Yon, "I'm going to look for them, maybe they can't find us," She nods her head in agreement.
I get off the blanket and make my way up the beach. I walk around before I spot them by the bar area. I guess the were getting some drinks. I was about to leave when I noticed Roman being all smiley with a leggy brunette. She had her hand on his bicep and it was so obvious she wanted him.
I feel a bit in my stomach and it's not a good one. Was I jealous? Yes I wasn't going to beat around the bush and lie. Roman isn't my boyfriend, he was just my friend. Yes my friend, my friend I happen to kiss all the time. Shaking the feeling off I walk towards Tako, Jeno, and Theo.
"You guys scared us, what took so long?" I ask no one in particular. I try to avoid looking in the direction of Roman.
"We just decided to get some drinks before we came down the beach, we're actually about leave we were just waiting for Roman he went to go use the bathroom but he hasn't come back yet." Jeno explains looking around for Roman.
"It's okay, I found him, he's talking with some girl over," I say in a tone.
Tako looks at me raising his eyebrows," You cool?" He asks and I nod.
"Why should I be worried? We're just friends anyways." I say. I don't know who I'm trying to convince myself or him.
"Okayyy, let's go then, I'm sure Roman can find his way to us," Theo says and we make our back to our spot with drinks in hand.
We make our way back to our spot to find Yon lathering herself in sunscreen. I can't help but chuckle at her. Hearing my laughter she turns around, "Took you long enough," She says to nobody in particular.
"Jagi, you mind putting sunscreen on my back I can't reach," She says and both Jeno and I reach for the sunscreen. We both reach towards it before I leave it for Jeno to grab. I look towards the ocean having to squint because of the brightness of the sand.
"Beautiful isn't it?" I hear a voice say from behind me. I turn around to find a man no taller than 5'10, dark skin man, did I also mention he's fine ?
"Yeah, it's really pretty isn't it," I say turning back to the ocean.
"Damn, I'm not even going to get a name?" He asks and I face him again with a little smile.
"My name is Cléo," I say extending my hand towards him.
"Darien," He returns the jester, "Nice to meet you," I say to him.
"Pleasure is all mine," He says kissing my hand. I jolt back in shock. I slowly take my hand out of his grip.
"You come alone?" He asks and I shake my head no, turning and pointing towards Yon and the rest of the group, "Those are my friends." And he sends a nice wave towards them.
"Well if you guys aren't doing anything later I'm throwing a party at my beach house if you guys wanna come," He says and everyone hums in approval, "We'll be there."
"Well Ms. Cléo I'll be looking forward to seeing you later," Darien says before he stretches his hand out.
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion, "Your phone, so I can text you the address," He says.
It finally clicks in my head, "Oh of course silly me," I say and grab my phone from my shorts pocket. I hand it to him and watch him put his number in, and he hands it back to me.
"Text me," He says before he walks away.
"Who was that," I turn around to see Roman and all the feelings I had felt earlier came back.
"His name's Darien," I say walking by him.
"Well what did Darien want ?" He asks in a tone I can't decipher.
"He invited us to his party later," I say before stripping of my shorts and cover top to reveal a pink leopard print bathing suit.
"You got anymore questions or are you done interrogating me?" I say a bit harshly. I'm a bit taken back at how harsh I sound and I can tell Roman feels the same by the expression on his face.
"Uh- no, I don't have anymore questions." He says and I nod walking over to Yon who was tanning. I grab her hand, "Hey I wasn't done tanni-," But she cuts off her speech when she see's the expression on my face and instantly gets up.
"I'll be back babe." She says grabbing Jeno's face in her hand and pecking him on the lips, which he complied to.
We make our way towards shore I feel the waves in between my toes and I sigh. I feel Yon tag at my hand I turn to face her.
"What's wrong?" She asks and I sigh before I take her a little deeper so it's not obvious we're talking about something.
After listening to the waves I finally let out, "I kissed Roman." I say not looking at her face.
"Yess, looks like Jeno owes me 50$ bucks, with interest." I open my mouth in shock.
"You bet against me?" I ask. She shakes her head.
"Jeno and I made a bet on who would kiss who first, and I place my bet on you because I know how bold you can be when you like someone." She explains, "But that besides the point, did you like the kiss? How was it?" She asked and I can't help but smirk away.
She laughs smacking my hand, "That good," She exclaims and I nod and laugh.
"He's a really good kisser," I comment. "But," She nods for me to continue.
"I feel like I like him more than he likes me," I say playing with the water.
"What makes you think that?" She asks.
"We kiss and have all these vulnerable moments together and next thing I know there's a girl wrapped around his arms smiling and giggling and he's smiling at her like something is funny and Roman isn't even that funny, when it's just me and him I make him laugh all the time," I ramble on without stopping and Yon just listens.
I finally huff signaling the end of my rant. I look at her waiting for her input.
"Wanna know what I think ?" And I nod my head.
"I think you're jealous." I give her the most incredulous look.
"No," I laugh out, "I cannot be jealous, why would be jealous of my friend talking to other people, he can talk to whoever he wants," I say for the second time today. At this point I'm denying what's obviously right in my face.
"Tell another lie," She says and I look at her before I sigh in defeat.
"I just don't think it's fair, he belongs to m-," I pause, "I sound insane. He doesn't, but I want him to, I want him to be mine Yon, and not like in a possessive creepy way, but I want him to be my person like the way Jeno is your person," I sigh again. Today was supposed to be a good day and now I'm here stressing about feelings.
"Have you told him any of this?" She asks softly. I shake my head no.
"I'm scared Yon, what if I give my all to him just to be disappointed," I say to her feeling vulnerable.
"That's just a risk you're going to have to take my love, life isn't easy, it's all about taking risks and making choices, some might have a positive outcome some may not but you'll never know until you take the risk." And I nod in understanding.
"Usually when it comes to men I'm not shy at all, you know that, but it's just something about Roman, one look in his eyes and I feel like melting," I giggle out, "He makes me feel like a little school girl who has a crush, that's not me Yon. I'm supposed to be standing on business but here I am folding like a pancake," I exclaim wrapping my hands around her should as we make our way back to the beach.
"You know what, this may sound really toxic of me, but I feel like everyone is a little toxic at times." She says and I nod for her to continue.
"The beach party we're going to, I think you should show Roman what he's missing out on," She says and I give her a look.
"I don't know Yon, I'm not one to go out of my way to do that to someone you know." I say.
"I know, but I don't think you even have to try seems like Darien may have a crush on you, I saw the way he was looking at you earlier," She says wiggling her eyebrows.
"He was?" I ask, I wasn't really paying attention to him.
"Anyone from a mile could tell he was, all I'm saying is at the party go out of your way to talk to him, that should rattle Roman up," She says and I contemplate for a bit before I nod.
Let's hope tonight is fun.
