Alhaitham ran as fast as he could to hide from Kaveh. He found an open closet and quickly sat inside.
He was about to close the closet, but that's when he saw Cyno stand there and laugh.
„ Haha, what's wrong with you?", Cyno laughed.
„ I...kissed Kaveh's cheek.", Alhaitham said as he turned red. He had a traumatized look on his face.
„ So? He's your boyfriend. Have you guys never kissed?", Cyno laughed.
Alhaitham shook his head.
„ We haven't kissed...because we aren't in a relationship.", Alhaitham admitted.
Cyno continued to laugh.
„ Jesus, you are drunk.", Cyno laughed.
„ I'm being serious, Cyno.", Alhaitham said, „ Kaveh and I are in a fake relationship because Kaveh has an ex girlfriend who won't leave him alone."
Now, Cyno knew that Alhaitham was being serious.
„ Wow. I guess it makes sense though.", Cyno said, „ You guys hated each other. Then one day, you were suddenly dating."
„ Our relationship should soon end anyway.", Alhaitham said, „ It's just a temporarily thing."
Cyno sat next to Alhaitham.
„ Be honest, do you have feelings for him?", Cyno asked.
Alhaitham laughed.
„ No, I'm straight. I know he's bisexual but that doesn't mean I'm gay.", Alhaitham said.
Cyno rolled his eyes.
„ Be for real, why did you kiss his cheek?", Cyno asked.
„ Because I'm tipsy, that's why.", Alhaitham said.
Cyno laughed.
„ Come on. I also thought once that I was straight. Until I connected the pieces.", Cyno growled, „ Be honest, how do you feel about Kaveh?"
Alhaitham took a deep breath.
„ He looks really beautiful. Like, when we were slow dancing today, I couldn't help but stare at him.", he said, „ I also don't hate him flirt with me. But it makes no sense. I'm clearly straight."
Cyno laughed.
„ Alhaitham, I don't think you're straight.", he said, „ I think you should think about it more. Anyway, I'm going back to Nari. You should talk to Kaveh."
Cyno left then.
Alhaitham didn't want to find Kaveh. Talking to him about the kiss would be embarrassing. Kaveh probably thought Alhaitham wanted to date him.
But what if...Alhaitham did like Kaveh?
Cyno was right. Alhaitham felt things for Kaveh that he wouldn't feel if he were straight.
What if he wasn't straight?
„ Why is this so confusing?", Alhaitham thought to himself as tears rolled down his cheek.
„ Alhaitham?", a voice said.
Alhaitham looked up and saw Kaveh standing there. He turned bright red.
„ Kaveh, what are you doing here?", Alhaitham said as he wiped his tears away.
Kaveh sat next to him.
„ Are you ok?", he asked.
„ I'm so sorry I kissed your cheek.", Alhaitham apologized, „ I just was tipsy and didn't know what I was doing."
Kaveh smiled.
„ Honestly, both of us are tipsy. We probably should go home.", Kaveh said. Alhaitham smiled as he got up.
Alhaitham knew he needed to figure his feelings out. He felt like maybe he did like Kaveh romantically. But he wasn't certain. Maybe he just appreciated his friendship with Kaveh.
And if he wasn't straight...what was his sexuality?
Kaveh and Alhaitham arrived at 3am in their flat. Kaveh didn't bring up the kiss, which made Alhaitham happy. Maybe Kaveh didn't like Alhaitham romantically, since this was a fake relationship after all.
It was Monday. Lectures started again. Since the kiss, Alhaitham has been thinking a lot about himself.
Were his feelings for Kaveh romantic or platonic?
Was he straight after all or was he not straight?
Walking to college, he and Kaveh held hands. Alhaitham always realized how he liked holding Kaveh's hand. In the beginning, he hated it. But it didn't take too long that he got used to it, and holding Kaveh's hand never bothered him.
As they both arrived in their class room, they sat in the back row together. They both were chatting. Alhaitham always looked at how beautiful Kaveh looked. He loved his smile when he was talking about something he was passionate about. Every time Kaveh talked about architecture, a smile appeared on his face. Alhaitham loved his smile.
„ Kaveh? Is that you?", a quiet voice said.
Kaveh and Alhaitham looked up and saw a girl standing in front of them. Her hair was blue and curly, and she was wearing an oversized white jumper. She was carrying books in her arms.
Kaveh gasped.
„ Oh my gosh. Layla!", Kaveh gasped, „ I didn't know yoy took this course."
Kaveh hugged the girl. As he hugged her, Alhaitham felt jealous.
He wished he was that girl Kaveh was hugging.
„ Yeah. It's been what? Since 10th grade?", Layla gasped.
„ Yeah, you moved. I was so sad. It was the whole reason we had to break up.", Kaveh laughed.
Alhaitham's eyes opened widely.
Break up?
„ Anyway, it was nice speaking to you. I hope we can catch up on things soon.", Layla said as she left.
Alhaitham wanted to find out more about this girl.
„ Who was she?", Alhaitham gasped.
„ Haha, you jealous?", Kaveh laughed. Alhaitham turned red.
„ No! I'm just interested.", Alhaitham growled.
Kaveh smiled.
„ That was Layla. She was my girlfriend in 10th grade. We were the complete opposites: I was an extrovert and she was the introvert. She was much quieter before, she seems to be a bit more confident.", Kaveh said, „ Anyway, we broke up because she had to move and we didn't want to have a long distance relationship."
Alhaitham was worried.
What if Kaveh would catch feelings for her?
After all, they were in a fake relationship.
Alhaitham smiled.
„ Wow, that's nice.", he said.
„ I will invite her for lunch with us later. I just wanna catch up. Is that ok with you?", Kaveh asked.
Alhaitham smiled.
„ Yeah.", he said nodding his head.
A few hours had passed. Layla had agreed to eat with both boys. They decided to eat in the cafeteria together.
„ Layla, this is my boyfriend Alhaitham. Alhaitham, this is my old friend Layla.", Kaveh said. Alhaitham felt happy that Kaveh mentioned that he was his boyfriend.
„ Hi, it's nice to meet you.", Layla said as she shook Alhaitham's hand.
„ So, have you dated anyone since our break up?", Kaveh asked Layla.
„ No, I've been single since. I see you have a boyfriend now. I'm happy for you.", Layla said smiling.
„ I had a girlfriend before Alhaitham, called Jasmine. She goes to our Uni. But we broke up because she's transphobic.", Kaveh said.
„ Oh gosh, that's horrible. I'm sorry you had to go through that.", Layla said.
Layla seemed to be a nice girl. But often, Alhaitham noticed the way Kaveh would smile at her when they talked about funny things. He couldn't help but feel jealous.
As lectures were finished for the day, Kaveh and Alhaitham held hands again. They started to walk out of the building.
That's when they heard a voice call Alhaitham's name.
It was Cyno.
„ Look, it's Mr Wannabe Comedian.", Kaveh said.
Cyno walked to the two.
„ Hi you two. Mind if I had a quick word with Alhaitham?", Cyno asked.
„ Sure. Should I go home or wait for you?", Kaveh asked.
„ Please wait for me. I'm sure Cyno won't take too long.", Alhaitham said.
Kaveh smiled.
Cyno and Alhaitham walked far from Kaveh.
„ So, tell me. What's up?", Alhaitham asked.
„ Did you figure out anything about yourself? I hope you listened to my advice.", Cyno said.
Alhaitham took a deep breath.
„ I think I might be in love with Kaveh.", he said as he turned red.
Cyno clapped his hands.
„ Finally. I think everyone except for you knew that you weren't straight.", Cyno laughed.
„ But I still need time. I'm not ready to confess.", Alhaitham said, „ I just realized how jealous I was today when Kaveh talked to his ex girlfriend from 10th grade. The way he smiled at her and hugged her made me realize how I wish that were me. But maybe Kaveh likes that girl. After all, our relationship is fake."
„ Tighnari and I are like 100% certain Kaveh is into you. Trust us.", Cyno said. Alhaitham smiled.
Meanwhile, Kaveh decided to buy a drink from the vending machine. He was thirsty, and didn't know how long it would take Cyno and Alhaitham to finish up their discussion.
He walked to the vending machine. He decided to buy a sprite for himself, and coke for Alhaitham since Alhaitham loved coke.
He suddenly realized he heard someone mention his name.
He decided to listen in.
„ Thanks Cyno for making me realize that I have feelings for Kaveh, by the way.", the person said.
It hit Kaveh that this was Alhaitham saying that.
His eyes opened widely. His cheek turned bright red.
„ So that means....he isn't straight.", Kaveh thought to himself.
He walked out of the building as fast as he could.
A few moments later, Alhaitham walked out.
Kaveh turned red.
„ Alhaitham! Let's go back...should we?", he nervously laughed.
Alhaitham smiled as he nodded his head.
