i watched a change in you

it's like you never had wings

A W K W A R D  SILENCE ECHOED throughout the living room as Eden pretended to read a vampire romance novel, ironic. She desperately wanted to leave and go back to Jacob, pretending as though everything was perfectly fine, so fine that she hadn't been caged for years, so fine that her own blood didn't believe her. So fucking fine that every time she was inside a small space, whether it be a tiny hallway or a closet, her heart was totally not beating rapidly under her chest and it totally did not feel as though she couldn't breathe.

But a girl could only dream. A small growl left her lips as she turned to the next page, glaring at the book so hard her vision was becoming blurry. She knew she was a strong capable woman who shouldn't rely on a man to forget her worries, but for god's sake he was her soulmate, and she was a moron who thought she could trust her own damn cousin.

"Eden.." Bella quietly whimpered as she watched Eden's hand tightly clench the book so hard, the spine was beginning to rip. Eden looked up, baring her fangs at Bella angrily. The girls both knew that Eden meant no harm, however the were-coyote was angry and she had to let it be known. She was thankful the rest of the Cullen's weren't in the house as by now they would've noticed how close Eden was to losing it.

"Eden, stop acting like an angry child who didn't get their way" Eden's head snapped to Edward, who stood behind Bella crossing his arms and scowling her way. In response, she gave him her middle finger since he's claiming she's acting like a child and 'continued' reading her book.

"Eden, please. You two are cousins, it's hurting everyone with the way youse snap at each other" Bella begged as she moved towards Eden, going down onto her knees and holding the were-coyotes soft hands, pulling them onto her own and looking at Eden directly. It appears that Bella's intervention quickly falling apart, who would've thought.

"Oh yeah, sure. Just because we're cousins I should completely forgive him for trapping me inside a goddamn cave up in the mountains for decades with nothing to defend myself with as I laid there trapped!" Eden got up and yelled, her hands waving around as tears began to form in her eyes.

"He means nothing to me, Bella. Not once has he apologised, as least Alice had the common decency to."

"You were murdering people." Edward replied as he slowly walked up towards Eden, his hands clenched and his eyes darkening in disgust. Bella's eyes slowly widened, it seems the young human had forgotten that fact and it made Eden further annoyed. Did she just think Eden got locked up for no reason? And she's surrounded by vampires, Eden rarely got this emotion aimed towards Bella but she just wanted to throttle her neck, as well as Edwards.

"Don't act like your any better, your a vampire Edward in case you've forgotten" Eden scoffed, rolling her eyes as she threw her book towards the couch and stared at Edward directly into his eyes.

"I murdered those who deserve it, unlike you. And I've changed, I'm no longer like that" Edward said in response, disgust filling his tone and that made Eden's anger bottle up even more. The audacity he had when he knew exactly what she had gone through.

"Edward, I was a seventeen fucking year old girl who got abused by her father and found out I wasn't human on the very night I got assaulted, so I'm not exactly sure on why you think they didn't deserve it when you killed people who did the exact same" Eden slowly said with a false smile on her face as though Edward was a five year old.

Edward suddenly appeared right in front of her face, anger in his eyes as he sneered at Eden, "That's not true and you know it" he said as he harshly shoved Eden. Bella let out a shocked yelp and ran towards them, attempting to seperate the two as Eden got her balance and let out a growl so loud it began rattling the bookshelf.

"You promised to protect me! You promised, and then you did nothing, of course I was going to murder those who caused me nothing but pain" Eden roared as she pulled her arm up and threw a punch onto Edward, his cheek began to slowly bleed as he glared at her and attempted to ram her into the wall, however she was too fast and began to yell. Exposing him for all the pain and suffering he's caused and enabled.

"They weren't innocent, I don't give a fuck if I murdered some who weren't there that night. They saw everything I went through and did nothing- heck, even encouraged it"

"I told you just be patient and karma would get them" Edward replied as he finally managed to touch Eden and throw her onto the ground, wrapping his arms around her as she began to thrash around.

"K-karma, what fucking karma? They were going to live happily knowing what they did. I was a young girl, Edward, no one was looking out for me, not you, not my dad- no one!" Eden sobbed out, attempting to free herself from his arms. Somehow, through her blurry vision, she could see Bella frozen in fear. The details released were some not even most of the Cullens knew. Only Edward and Rosalie.

"Eden, I didn't want you to go to jail, I was going to get your revenge but you couldn't wait. I didn't want to let you know" Edward said, as his eyes began to tear up but his harsh grip on Eden continued. Eden didn't give a single fuck if he was beginning to feel empathy for her, it was too late. Especially when she knew if it wasn't for the human who was torn between stopping the two or calling the rest of the Cullens for help, he would've never released her and she would've been locked in her own filth.

"You say that but your actions prove otherwise, I tried to explain myself but you wouldn't even let me" She replied, pausing as she stopped thrashing around and looked at Edward directly, heartbreak and misery clear in her eyes "You got revenge on the wrong person, and locked them up for decades as they relived every single fucking painful moment they've every had. I don't regret what I did, instead, I wish I took my time slowly as I ripped them apart with my teeth" she continued before spitting onto his face.

Eden saw her chance as he let out a sound of disgust and used one hand to wipe the spit off his face, she quickly sprang up before lifting her leg and hitting Edward's face with it. He fell back and stared into Eden's tear-stained face.

"I enjoyed murdering them, and locking me up wasn't going to change a single thing" Eden let out a false, weak laugh before sneering at him and looking at Bella who stood frozen, her mouth slightly open and for a second, Eden saw the fear flash between her eyes before it quickly disappeared. Pity replacing them, Eden did not ever need or want pity from a human whose trouble followed her everywhere, despite how close they were.

"I-I didn't know" Bella stuttered out as she began to walk to Eden who shook her head, emotions void from her face. Bella stopped and continued to stare at Eden, her heart beating rapidly as the need to comfort the were-coyote screamed at her. Eden's hair was all over the place, with Edward's, who managed to get up and was beginning to heal, hand marks on her skin. She was breathing heavily, and her tears were starting to dry.

"I don't need your pity, I just need space," Eden replied coldly as she started walking towards the door, itching to shift and tear Edward apart, "We're fine Bella, I'll be back to normal soon enough" she clarified and slammed the door shut, a loud bang echoing into the Cullen house as the couple stood in silence.

Eden breathed in, the cold air hitting her face as she stared into the sky. The stars were glistening, shining brightly as if they were laughing at her. She let out a scoff and started to walk towards the woods. She didn't care if Bella was going to happily run into Edward's arms, the very arms that caged Eden's into his as he shoved her into that cave many years ago, similarly to the way he held her mere minutes ago.

She knew they were meant to be, despite how idiotic the both of them could be, just as she knew Jacob and her were two idiots in love. It was life, and Eden soon realised she just had to accept it.

She couldn't help but let out a growl and punched a tree close to her, before letting out a yell of pain. Ironically, the tree hurt more than when she punched Edward. She just couldn't believe his reasoning, the first time hearing it and it wasn't even a good enough excuse. It felt like she got hit in the face as Eden sank into her knees and began to sob, the freezing cold forcing her to wrap her arms around herself.

Tears began to stain her pants as she wondered how Edward could be so emotionless when it came to her. He was able to read her mind at the time, he should've known her reasoning behind why she killed those bastards but no, Edward always had to be right. Her sobs began to harshen before she finally looked up, staring into the blurry sky once again.

She wondered why she wasn't angry, so angry she should've ripped him into shreds, instead her heart and body ached. She guessed throughout the years, maybe, just possibly Edward had a justified reason for putting her inside that cave, one she viewed as a cage. Instead, it was so stupid she couldn't help but let out a sarcastic laugh.

Realising her body was starting to shake into the cold, Eden shifted into her coyote, she wasn't sure how long she spent in the cold but the ache in her bones were making her regret it. She swiftly ran through the trees, lost in her thoughts as her brain replayed all the memories she used to fondly think of when she was younger. Memories of her following Edward around their village, believing everything he said and idolising every action he committed.

Praying every morning and night for his health to better when he got sick from the plague, even though she could barely hold her hands together from all the past broken bones, bruises and see due to black and blue bruises on her eyes from her father's hands.

Eden could still remember the moment she found out Edward was a vampire, accidentally walking in on him and Carlise feeding on bunnies. She remembered the fear swimming through her blood as she stood frozen in place. However, at the time he was still her Edward and soon they tried to spend as much time as they could together before he went away with Carlise.

Obviously, things weren't so happy when her father's friends decided to believe the drunken things he'd spit out and lay their disgusting, slimy hands on her. Her golden eyes scared them off once they finished, leading to her father realising she became his biggest fear. Not only was his firstborn a 'scandalous' daughter, but she was the same being as him; a were-coyote.

Without realising, Eden found herself standing in front of his door with her arm frozen, ready to knock. She didn't even notice when she shifted but she couldn't help but not care, instead, she was focused on whether she should leave or bang on the door. She lowered her arms as she stared into the brown wood. She didn't want to wake up Jacob's dad, it was in the middle of the night and it just didn't feel right.

Fearing that she was intruding, despite knowing damn well Jacob would get angry at her for thinking that, she began to take a step back before the door suddenly slammed wide open. It seemed Jacob sensed her presence as he opened it with a wide grin before it quickly dropped as worry, then anger flashed between his eyes.

"What happened?" Jacob growled as he pulled her into a hug, before scanning Eden's face and body. Her body must've already been weak from the amount of energy she pulled into punching Edward hard enough to the point it caused harm, and stopping her body from freezing to death as it didn't heal her fast enough. They bruises surrounding her arms weren't as bad as when she left the Cullen's house, however, they were still there. She also guessed her face was still tear-stained due to having putting some makeup on earlier during the day.

"I got into a fight with Edward" Eden mumbled before shoving her body once again into Jacob's chest, snuggling her face and feeling the heat around his body. It quickly soothed her aching soul and she let out a sigh of relief as she breathed in his comforting scent. Rain and wood with a hint of roses, a weird scent that shouldn't smell pleasant but it did, one of the many things Eden loved about him. He was perfect.

"And he laid his hands onto you." Jacob gritted out, despite his anger it didn't reflect on his actions as he gently laid a kiss on her head. She wasn't sure if it was to calm her, or himself down but it didn't matter to her.

"I won" Eden struggled to say, rather speaking to him it seemed she was speaking directly to his chest, so she lifted her face and repeated herself with a smirk. A poor attempt at hiding her emotions when they both knew Jacob knew some of her past and that being the son of a bitch she called father, would lay his hands on her. A painful reminder to Eden that it was now a second member in her family that had laid hands on her and one of the many times a man has.

Jacob gritted his teeth, before shaking his head and grabbing a pair of keys, "I'm going to fucking kill him" he barely managed to get out as he quickly grabbed a warm jumper for Eden and together they walked to the car- more like Jacob stomped. She didn't bother to stop him, Jacob's wolf was already trying to escape and she didn't want to chase a murderous wolf all the way to the Cullen house.

------

It seems whenever I try to do my assignments, the sudden urge to update this book occurs. So strange hmm. I went from updating once every two years, so now the third time this year so woohoo.

Also, an emotional chapter that finally exposed Eden's past, this wasn't the original past i had planned out for her but i just began to write and suddenly it flowed through like that.

ALSO PLS READ!!!!

Not justifying Edwards actions in any ways for laying his hands onto Eden, but she's supernatural and the both of them were in a physical fight. if she was human, Edward would've never, and will not ever again in this plot lay a hand on a woman, or any being until yk the actual fight in the movie/novel appears against the bad guys.

They both know they have supernatural healing, and blah blah blah, main point is, in this book Edward is a stinky poop and a slight piece of shit, they view each other as enemies who have a common ground when it comes to bella. i can't explain it properly but i hope i got my point across, and please dont view this as Edward hits women, as thats not my intention and outside of this book i really do love edward, more then jacob.

Anyways have a good day guys, love yuurdtts!

question da day:

what are some things you guys want to see in the future, or some things you feel as though i can improve on this story? <3
