chapter song : l.a. baby

Jennie stepped off of the bus with a gasp, taking note of the sunny skies of California. She looked around in awe at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and all the people who walked by.

Adam nudged Jennie's shoulder as she looked around in awe, "Woah." She breathed out, taking his arm in hers until she noticed Julie trying to talk to Dean. Jennie glanced at her friend, who flushed red having been caught.

Jennie shoved her the larger boy beside her and over to the blonde, Julie glared at her but took her chance to talk to Dean. Dean looked at Jennie in slight confusion at the push but took the chance to talk to Julie.

The girl hung around on the side of the group, looking around aimlessly, a bright grin on her face when she crashed into someone. "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry."

Jennie apologized, crouching down to help pick up the things the person had dropped. None of the ducks seemed to have noticed her stop, to engrossed in the newness of where they were.

"Oh ugh no problem." Jennie froze hearing the male voice, she glanced up in surprise. She froze seeing the beautiful boy in front of her, he was blonde, bright eyes and a cute smile. His hair was a little messy and there was dimples on his face.

Jennie was a sucker for a cute smile and dimples.

"I'm um um Jennie- Jennie Banks, Team USA hockey." She stumbled over her words as she handed over the papers she had dropped. He grinned at her before taking the papers from her, "I'm David Durango, Team USA baseball."

The pair stared at each other for a minute before someone called out to David, apparently his team, who all made eyes at him while motioning to Jennie. The girl blushed, "I-I should go find my team."

David nodded his head, smiling at her, "They went that way." Jennie nodded waving goodbye to him and his team who excitedly waved to her. She hurriedly made her way through the crowd to find her team.

"Jennie! Here!" The girl looked up to find Bombay and her slightly worried Ducks. "You guys ditched me and I totally embarrassed myself." Jennie whined rushing towards her brother who took notice of her red hot face.

Adam wrapped his arms around her, patting her head, "Guys keep an eye on Jennie, she goes missing very easily." Charlie informed the group, who nodded their heads at the jokey tone Charlie had.

"What happened?" Jesse asked the girl, who was still buried in her brothers arm. "I crashed into a super cute guy and I stuttered my way through the conversation and then his teammates showed up and I wanna be buried right here!"

She pointed at the ground beside her without even looking. "Ooh he must have been really cute to have you stuttering." Connie joked, taking Jennie's arm as she pulled her away from Adam, who was already looking at Charlie.

"My god it was those stupid dimples." Jennie fell back into Adam dramatically, her brother not even flinching as she clung onto him like a koala. Making him carry her.

"I never ever want to see him or his team again."

Jennie groaned loudly catching sight of David and his team make their way into the ice rink, sitting towards the middle section where she could find him easily. "Ooh is that him? He and his team are super cute."

Julie bored catching sight of Jennie looking back, the surrounding Ducks turned around too. "He's not that good lucking." Luis voiced his thoughts, "Wait, till he smiles." Jennie sighed, turning back to David, the boy caught her eyes and immediately began grinning at her.

"Oh.. I see it now." Luis patted her arm gently, "Man this is embarrassing." Jennie whined, "Banks, ice now." The girl groaned, putting her helmet on her head before making her way onto the ice.

She heard David's team all cheering, she could feel it in her bones that it was them. And sure enough, she turned around to see them clapping. David shook his head in slight embarrassment of his team.

Guy passed to Jennie who took the puck, skating down the ice, she did a spin around number 41 of the Trinidad team before shooting the puck. Making it into the net, she jumped up as they were now leading 7-0.

The ducks immediately embraced the girl as the whole team jumped up on the sidelines. "Yeah!" She cheered, while high fiving Les as Jesse got onto the ice.

They began to next play, Jennie took the puck from the drop, shooting it over to Jesse while shoving her opponent down. Jesse skated down the ice furiously before one of the Trinidad players slide in front of Jesse causing him to fly into the net.

"Hey! What's your problem man!?" Jesse shouted pushing number 39, Jennie grabbed his arm. "Cool it down, okay? We got this." She advised, Jesse nodded his head at her, as the referee lead him away. "Jesse Hall, 2 minutes roughing."

Jennie sighed, getting back into position, "Alright, Fulton let's have some fun!" Dean called as he and Fulton got onto the ice, "Yeah, Portman, let's do it!" Fulton called gleefully as Jennie stole the puck from number 42.

She skated down the ice quickly only to meet the same fate as Jesse after she had shot the puck. A player slide out in front of her causing her to fly into the barricade. The ring of the point going off in the background. A groan escaped her lips as she was shoved back into the barricade by another player.

"Banks!" Bombay motioned for the girl to get back into the pit, she got back up, swaying slightly. "I'll take care of that for you princess!" Dean called to her, taking her arm he helped her over to the Ducks before setting off after her attackers.

Bombay lifted Jennie over the barricade, passing her off to Julie and Charlie. Charlie pulled her helmet off, he grabbed her face, "You okay?" She nodded her head slowly, "Little queazy."

She admitted, Julie passed her her water bottle, "You did good out there, got us up by another point." Jennie nodded her head as she drank her water. "Damn, Dean is destroying those guys." Jennie looked up to see Dean having had flipped her attacker over the barricade while singing.

She smiled rolling her eyes at his antics but grateful nonetheless. "Hey, you got a girl in the stands." Jennie looked over hearing Charlie talking, she noticed him looking at Adam. "Scouts man, look at them."

Adam revealed who he was looking at, "Don't worry about scouts, Adam, just play your best." Charlie nudged the blue eyed boy who turned to look at him. "Yeah, thanks, you okay, Jen?"

Jennie nodded her head, "Captain Duckie took care of me." She nudged Charlie, "Adam! In. Jennie?" Bombay looked at her questioningly, she nodded her head. "I'm good!"

He motioned for her to get on the ice, the twins jumped the barricade, Trinidad had scored a point in her absence so she quickly stole the puck from 7. She played with the puck like Dwayne had showed her.

The cowboy in question cheered from the pit as a little girl cheered Jennie on, she passed to Connie who did the same. Jennie looked to the stands, seeing the little girl jumped up in excitement seeing the two female players play. Connie passed to Ken, who scored a point as he easily evaded the Trinidad players.

"Look it." Jennie nudged Connie, showing her the young fan, the two female players waved at the little girl who gasped excitedly. Waving back. "Wow.. that feels good."

Connie spoke as the Ducks all crowed onto the ice having won the game. "Alright! Way to go! That wasn't a game that was a statement!" Bombay cheered as the group broke away to celebrate with the crowd.

"Ladies and gentlemen. This is Team USA hockey and the man chosen to lead them to the gold, Gordon Bombay." Tibbles introduced as the group got onto a stage, Jennie stood beside Bombay, a blue and white hate sported on her head.

Her long hair was curled at the ends, she was still feeling really good after seeing the little girl cheer for her only two hours before. She'd completely forgotten about David Durango and his baseball team.

Jennie watched slightly terrified as a man dressed as a Hendrix polar bear ran up on stage. Shaking all of their hands, Jennie refused, backing up into her brother. "Nope, nope."

Adam rolled his eyes but covered his sister from the bears sight. "How about some questions?" Tibbles asked as the bear ran off, Jennie moved back beside Bombay while a blonde woman stood up, "Team USA, how does it feel to be competing on an international level here in Los Angeles?"

Jennie leaned toward as did Charlie and Goldberg, "We love it! It's so exciting!" Jennie informed, a grin playing on her glossy lips. "Coach Bombay, the team from Iceland is a heavy favorite, their coach has already guaranteed victory, how are you gonna handle them?"

Jennie glanced back catching sight of blonde hair, Guy Germaine, he looked as pretty as ever. His eyes were shiny with color and excitement, she glanced away as he looked up. Catching her eyes for a split moment.

"Hardwork.. I think my team is ready to go up against the best in the world. We're not worried about them. Iceland may be tough but we're team USA and we're going all the way." Everyone nodded their heads in agreement as the press clapped for them.

"Thank you, thank you." Bombay spoke as Tibbles took his arm to lead the team away. "Team USA is going down that's where their going." The group all looked to see a tall man with his all very tall, huge, and blonde team.

"Is that that one guy?" Jennie asked to no one in particular, trying to recall a name. "I don't know but he sure is a guy." Dean replied to her question while she glanced back at him with a small laugh. He winked at her while she turned back to face the man.

"See you on the ice, Bombay." Jennie's brows furrowed, she stepped forwards, her team caught her quickly. Full knowing that she didn't really care how big someone was, she'd let just about anyone have it. "Wolf the Dentist Stansen is coaching? You didn't tell me that."

Bombay spoke while the team began to head down, Jennie hung back with Charlie and Ken. "That guys a dentist?" Ken asked as they watched reporters go up to the man. "That was his nickname."

Charlie answered the boy, "I heard he belongs to the loony bin." Jennie spoke staring daggers at the man, "He played one year of pro, he punched out more teeth then he made goals. He even punched his own coach!"

Charlie exclaimed lifting his arms up, "I heard they ran him out of the league. And the country." Julie spoke from beside Jennie, "That's his team? Those guys are huge!" Kenny sighed loudly seeing the guys as they began to head back with their team.

Jennie walked over to Miss. McKay, seeing her looking annoyed while Bombay walked away. "You okay, Miss. McKay?" Jennie asked stopping beside the tutor who forced a smile down at her. "Yeah, I suppose this is all too m-."

"Hello there missy, how about a bear hug?" The polar bear called to Miss. McKay, the woman shook in disgust, Jennie's face fell. "Hey!" She immediately followed after him, her tutor followed quickly. "Don't talk to her like that, you dumb bear!"

Miss. McKay took Jennie by the arm, "It's alright, it's okay, Dean! Fulton!" Jennie continued to try and drag Miss. McKay to the polar bear man who was quickly making his way through the crowd after receiving the stink eye and an attempted kick from Jennie.

"Take her, please before she kills a bear." The two boys nodded, picking the girl up from her arms and legs. "Let me go, he want to talk like a freak, then he's going to catch my hands!"

She eventually gave up as the ducks laughed at her state, "This is so embarrassing, I could be kicking that bears ass right now!"

"Wow, this place is nice." Jennie spoke as she unlocked the door to the teams place, being the one trusted with the key. "Alright, alright, let's talk room assignments, the girls are obviously taking that room." Jennie motioned to the room down the hall with two big beds.

"Wait, why do you guys get that room?!" Jesse asked the girl in disbelief, Jennie sent him a look, sassily placing her hands on her hips, "Because.. we're girls!" Jesse rolled his eyes at her response, "That's not my fault!"

"It's not ours either, you do realize what we have to go through each month-." The boys all covered their ears besides Dwayne, Adam and Kenny, Julie smirked in satisfaction. "Just take it!"

The girls laughed before making their way down to the room, Jennie waved to the boys before she shut the door. Immediately, Jennie tossed her mix tape to Connie who set up her cd player.

Brittney Spears quickly popped onto the radio, the girls changed into comfortable clothes. Jennie's consisted of her pajama shorts and a t-shirt that didn't all the way cover her shorts.

Julie wore sweats a a t-shirt while Connie was in a pj set. "Should we see what the boys are doing?" Jennie asked the two girls, who shook their heads, "Okay, I'm gonna check on Adam, he doesn't like new places."

The girls nodded, waving her off, Jennie made her way down the hallway, finding one of the doors open. She went to knock when she heard her name from inside, "Are you sure you don't like Jennie?"

It was Luis's voice, Jennie furrowed her eyebrows, Julie and Connie saw her stop through the open door. They both made their way over, "I'm 100% sure! I've said this like a gazillion times. I don't like Jennie."

Charlie.

Jennie couldn't help but feel slightly upset, her face fell ever so slightly. Connie saw it and smiled slightly, knowing that the pair had caught feelings for each other. So much for being enemies.

"Good, because that David guy sure liked her." Luis voiced again, Jennie furrowed her brows, "Who cares." Charlie groaned, getting more annoyed, "I care, I don't know if I trust that guy."

Adam's overprotective voice came into the conversation, "Dude, she can take care of herself, you saw her going to fight that bear for harassing Miss. McKay, she was scared of him like 10 minutes before."

Guy.. so he was paying attention too her. "You think she likes that guy?" Charlie asked the group, who all rolled their eyes, "Maybe.. Jennie's confusing, she hasn't talked about her crushes since she got over Guy."

Jennie glanced over at Connie, who was trying not to laugh. It was such a known fact about Jennie's crush on Guy that it had been pushed back in Connie and Jennie's friendship.

"Wait, she liked you?" Ken gasped, taking in the new drama, "In pee-wees.. I had a crush on her way before too, but I thought she was dating that Larson guy."

Jennie's heart speed up, she actually could have had him. "Oh Andrew? Yeah, he was like in love with her, I don't really know what happened after." Adam explained to the group of boys, "He was talking about her before I beat them up, something about having kissed her."

Fulton spoke up, now remembering the conversation from when he destroyed the three ducks. There was a series of gasps from the boy ducks as Jennie stood up straight. Sharing a look with the two girls. "What? A kiss? What room were they in again?"

The three girls immediately ran down the hallway, Jennie shut the door as quietly as she can just as Averman and the other ducks ran out of the room.

"Oh my god! Oh my god!" Jennie hide under her and Julie's covers while the three girls waited for the room door to burst open. Which it did all of a second later.

"What the hell guys?!" Julie shouted at them as they rounded around the room, "Jennie!" Adam yanked her blanket off of her, "I could have been nude!"

Jennie shouted, smacking her brothers arm as she took the blanket back. "Did you kiss Larson?" Guy asked with crossed arms, Jennie coughed, "What? No!"

They didn't look convinced, "That day when I was in the hospital, mom and dad said you had went out, where'd you go?" Adam lifted a brow at his sister who stopped to come up with an excuse, "I went to Tammy's, she wanted to talk about her crush."

Fulton lifted a brow at that, "I was with Tammy that day, I walked her and Tommy home." The ducks turned back to Jennie, who immediately facepalmed. "Fine! It was one kiss!"

The og ducks gasped in betrayal, "How could you kiss him?!" Charlie asked her in disbelief, slightly upset with her. "He kissed me the first time!"

"The first time? You just said it was one kiss!" Les pointed a finger at her, Jennie slapped herself, "Fine it was twice! Once when I was 9 and that day, okay, it was nothing!"

Adam looked away offended, "I thought you told me everything." He crossed his arms, Jennie groaned, "Oh come on, guys! I dropped him for you guys so can we get over it, I solemnly swear to never ever ever kiss anyone again."

Charlie stared at her, a little upset that he wouldn't be able to be her first kiss. "How about no more kissing our enemies?" He looked at Jennie, who stared at him as if she figured something out. "Are you leaving the kissing option for someone in particular, Captain Duckie?"

Charlie's face light up a red color as their eyes went to him instead of the girl. "No, I just meant, that you can still be happy with someone." Julie smirked from the other side of the bed, "Ooh someone like David Durango and his dreamy hair."

Charlie's face fell, he glared at the female goalie, "No, no, no David whatever his name is, we don't know that guy." Guy intervened, shaking his head disapprovingly. "I hate to break it to you guys, but you can't control Jennie and who she dates. Or kisses."

Jennie grinned over at Connie, who looked at Guy in annoyance. "See, Connie gets it. I can pick whoever I want and you just have to accept it!"

She looked to Charlie, silently hoping to get a reaction or something out of him but nothing came. The boys slowly exited the room, Jennie stood up, following them to the room door. "Charlie."

He stopped, the other ducks kept going, Jennie closed the door slightly behind her. "Just so you know, I don't like that David guy, he just showed up at the game." Charlie stared at her like her words and some cryptic meaning, and they did.

"It wouldn't be my business anyways." He responded, Jennie didn't expect that, "Seriously?" He shrugged while she scoffed, "You know what, you're right.. it's not your business."

Jennie shut the door before Charlie could realize what she meant.
