A huff came from next to me before I felt the bed shift. "Wake up! You promised..."
I struggled to keep the smile off of my face as I slowly opened my eyes, my gaze landing on the pouting face of Isa. "Okay, I'm awake."
"You've been awake, meanie."
"You're cute when you try to wake me up."
"...Shut up and let's go."
"I didn't expect the child of Hades to be excited to go to the beach."
"...The only time I've been was to go to camp or... during the war."
"That explains it," I hummed and sat up, pecking their lips in the process. "Let's get ready then."
"We don't have to go if you want to sleep in," They muttered, fidgeting with their shirt.
"Firebug," I frowned and cupped their cheeks, making them look up at me. "I was messing with you earlier — of course, I want to go to the beach with you. Now, let's grab everything we'll need."
A smile spread across their face before they hopped out of bed, making me relax more. 'I keep forgetting that they're used to people bailing on their plans, so they'll assume I'll do the same,' I got out of bed and walked over to them, pulling them in for a kiss — smirking at their shocked squeak. 'I swear I'll never do that, Firebug. I enjoy seeing you happy, dummy.'
"What was that for?" They breathed after I broke the kiss, making me smile when they began glowing.
"Because I love you," I hummed, giggling when they started glowing brighter. "Easy, don't burst into flames on me."
"...I love you too," They muttered before stealing a kiss and walking to the bathroom. "I'm still wearing my binder to the beach!"
"ISA!"
"It'll be fine! I fought wars in my binders!"
"THAT ISN'T BETTER?! THAT'S WORSE!"
"Don't yell at me, I'll cry."
I joined them in the bathroom and huffed, crossing my arms over my chest. "At least bring a change just in case? You can still wear the shirt over the two-piece-."
"Okay," They hummed, taking their shirt off. "How's my back look? My wings have been irritating me all week."
"Have you stretched them recently?"
"..."
"Isa."
"Okay, I'll stretch them at the beach!" They whined and grabbed their binder. "Take a good look, because these are about to be a lot smaller."
My gaze dropped to their breasts until they put their binder on, making us both laugh. I leaned against the wall as they undressed and put on their trunks and a swim shirt, a smile resting on my face until they were fully dressed. 'My turn,' Once I started undressing, their eyes widened, and their tail unraveled from around their waist. 'Always so excited — as if they don't see this every night.'
Their tail wagged until I was dressed again — my swimsuit hidden beneath my clothes for now. I grabbed their hand and dragged them out of the bathroom, grabbing the bag they packed last night. Once I had the bag, black mist swirled around us, and an excited giggle left Isa. 'Their excitement is worth being woken up early.'
The shadows dispersed after another minute to reveal the beach, Isa's tail wagging as they began tugging me toward the water. I giggled at their excitement, stopping them to set up our spot first — which didn't take long thanks to Isa. Once our things were set out, I removed the clothes I threw on over my swimsuit, gaining Isa's attention.
"Can we go swimming now?!" Their tail wagged behind them, earning a giggle from me.
"Yes, we can," I hummed, watching them scramble to their feet and offer me their hand. "For someone that can burst into flames, you're more excited to go swimming than anyone I've met."
"...Is that a bad thing?"
"No, it's adorable and I'm falling in love with you all over again."
"...You're gonna make me burst into flames."
"Will the water hurt you then or will it just put your flames out?"
"We're not doing experiments on our dates, I told you about this."
I laughed and cupped their cheeks, pecking their lips. "But the pout on your face when you say that is so cute!"
"You sound like 'Dite."
"Don't talk about other women around me."
Isa let out a whine and tugged me in the direction of the water. "Let's go!"
I laughed and followed them into the water, giggling when their tail wrapped around their body. 'Trying to hide your excitement isn't going to be that easy.' Once we were at a decent distance, Isa moved closer to me and stared across the horizon. I pressed a kiss on their scar before taking in the view.
'They can apparently get hotter than I thought,' I internally sighed, taking in their features that were now basking in the sunlight. 'And they seem so happy and relaxed.' Isa glanced over and raised an eyebrow, causing me to cup their cheeks and steal a kiss.
"What was that for?" Isa muttered, pouting when I moved out of the way of their kiss. "Hey!"
"You just looked so happy and relaxed," I hummed, glancing out over the ocean. "I figured you would have a fear of the ocean because of your uncle."
"Nah, just abandonment issues from my birth mother."
"Isa!"
"What?! It's true!"
I laughed and splashed their face. "You're impossible!"
Isa laughed before splashing me in return. "Don't splash me! Oh, look."
They turned me toward the open ocean and pointed at a few humanoid creatures. "What — er, who are they?"
"Daughters of Triton — also known as mermaids. It's rare for a child of Hades to enter the ocean, so this is as amusing for them as it is for you."
"Huh," I hummed, leaning into their arms. "Can we swim out to them?"
"They'd happily take us under — uh, with air bubbles for us. My cousins are a lot nicer."
"Well then... Race 'ya?"
I stole a kiss before taking off, making the mermaids giggle when Isa stumbled after me. When we reached the mermaids, one pulled Isa close and whispered in their ear, making them nod slowly. Once they move away, the mermaids left, making me send Isa a confused look.
"What's going on?"
"Well, it's been a while since I've practiced, but I'm pretty sure they're going to get permission to bring us under."
"How far are we going?"
"Not far — we'll have air bubbles."
"I'm not worried about that, I just don't want us to be too far in case..."
Isa smiled and kiss my cheek. "Don't worry, if he was in a bad mood, we would've known the second we showed up."
"I just don't want you to get hurt."
"I won't — we'll both be fine."
The mermaids returned and offered us their hands, making me hesitate momentarily. 'I know this is rare for them, but is it safe for Isa? What if Poseidon's mood shifts?' I watched Isa take the hand of one, holding my breath when they let the mermaid pull them under. 'There really is an air bubble...'
I let out a low sigh before offering the mermaid a smile, taking her hand and letting her pull me under. Once next to Isa, I interlocked our fingers and smiled at them, letting the mermaids pull us further. I watched in awe as a school of fish swam by, glancing over at Isa when their grip on my hand tightened.
'They look so happy,' I giggled when their tail twitched, watching them reach out when a fish swam up to them. 'Thank you, Poseidon, for allowing this.' They faced me and giggled when the fish didn't swim away, waiting for me to reach for it as well. I shuddered at the feeling of petting the fish, but Isa's smile was worth it.
The mermaids said something to Isa — something that made them frown but nod in understanding. We swam to the surface after that, making Isa's hair flatten on their head. I moved their hair out of their eyes and placed a kiss ok their cheek, enjoying the smile on their face.
"Why'd we have to come up?"
"Hm, Poseidon didn't want me down there long — he didn't want me down there at all, but since this is a date, he decided to give us a break."
"So your uncles can be nice?"
"Rarely," Isa chuckled. "But I owe him for that — one day, I'll ask him to bring us to Atlantis."
"So it is real?"
"Allegedly."
We giggled before I cupped their cheeks. "Next time, let's see if we can find a way to get the Dimitrescus here."
"I guess this means I should be nicer to Poseidon so we can go swimming more often?"
"Just a bit — seeing how happy you were definitely was worth this trip, I wanna see that more often."
"That's asking a lot, but for you? I'll do anything."
