An hour later…
A knock on the door made Kix look up only to see a worried Jesse standing there. He was flanked by both Echo, Fives and Hunter. The three looked on with worry. Crosshair looked up only to smile at his lovers who pulled him close while Tech extracted himself from Kix allowing Echo to wrap him up.
Jesse smiled, pulling his own husband into his arms.
"I told you, they'd be okay with it. No murders yet" Jesse teased.
"That's because we haven't told Howzer or Fox yet" Kix murmured, kissing Jesse's cheek.
"What? Your brothers don't know?" Fives exclaimed, Kix only shook his head looking off to the side.
"Does Thorn, Rose and the twins know?" Crosshair asked.
"Who's Rose?" Hunter questioned.
"Kix's daughter, she's the middle child" Jesse explained, "They know, it's why I took a week off" Jesse finished, rubbing Kix's back.
"Well as morbid as this topic is, how would you like to meet your newest granddaughter" Fives grinned as he spoke, accepting Casey off Wrecker.
Kix and Jesse shared a wide eyed look as Fives passed over Casey to Kix who took her while biting his lip. He smiled down at the mini-fives in his arms.
"Oh, she is definitely your child" Jesse said, he couldn't help but gush over the small child. Jesse found himself taking Casey off Kix when his husband started to cough quite violently, Kix moved out of the room towards the bathroom only to find himself coughing his guts up.
A hand in between his shoulders rubbed to help him pass the vomit and anything that was left in his stomach.
"I've got you Kixy, let it out" Jesse whispered, kissing his partner's head and ignoring the bits of blood in the sick.
"You alright?"
"No but not much I can do" Kix yawned, leaning into Jesse as he cleaned up. The two then left the bathroom only to meet the concerned gazes of the others.
A rumble of an engine had all attention turned to see the Mustang belonging to none other than Fox who climbed out of his car and jogged up to the house. He knocked then walked in bypassing Wrecker before spotting his brother. Fox didn't care that the others were watching as he pulled Kix into his chest.
"You are going to live your life to the fullest and fuck Rex, I will deal with him. You are not leaving, not while you only have two years. Howzer is currently arguing with Rex and Ahsoka, her mother two. Let us deal with it, otherwise I will get our uncle involved and you know how much he owes me" Fox said with a smile he ignored the others' looks. Kix only tightened his grip, trying not to break down in his brother's arms. Fox pulled back seeing the look, "We will finish this later but expect company" Fox whispered.
"Dare I ask how many laws you broke getting here?" Obi-wan asked from the doorway. Fox whipped around and glared.
"None that concerns you Johnathon" Obi-wan only glared at Fox who matched his own with the man he went to school with.
“You got something to say Fox?”
“Just that I can’t believe Cody agreed to marry you all those years ago” Fox teased, grabbing his phone when it started to ring. “I’m going to give you some advice, never agree to meet your wife's mother-in-law ever, she never stops ringing, bitch” Fox advised them all, many of them had to ignore his language.
“Yes” Fox answered the phone, walking off towards his car. Obi-wan instantly noticed the pistol in the back of the Ryker brother’s jeans. He shook his head not wanting to know, they watched Fox climb into the car and rev the engine just to piss off Obi-wan before the car took off down the street.
“We best get going…”
“Oh no, you're staying the night” Tech interrupted Jesse who frowned, tucking a sick looking Kix under his arm. The medic shivered in his embrace, Fives grabbed a spare blanket and wrapped it around his shoulders.
“That’s a kind offer son but…”
“No, you are staying for tea and will sleep in Echo’s old room” Crosshair spoke up, he glared at the two. Kix could only nod while Jesse sighed, he pressed his lips to Kix’s head before jogging out to grab the medical bag from the car as well as Kix’s nausea medication.
Hours later…
Kix smiled down at his lap where Naomi and Colton sat against his chest, the two had been watching the movie with so much excitement that they had fallen asleep. He had taken his nausea pills as he leaned back into the legs of his husband. Jesse was sound asleep on the sofa with Omega sprawled across his lap.
Beside him was Tech, Echo and their sleeping daughter. The troublesome three, in other words Hunter, Crosshair and Fives were on the other sofa curled up around the marksman who slept soundly.
"You alright?"
A soft voice had him looking up, Kix connected eyes with Wrecker who helped lie the kids down in their pop up crib. Kix made his way to his feet as he followed the builder onto the porch.
"I'm good, thanks"
Wrecker nodded knowing the doctor definitely needed fresh air.
"So, is it true?"
"Is what true?" Kix turned to look at Wrecker with a raised eyebrow.
"That you’re dying?" Wrecker murmured.
"Yes and yes that I carry suicide pills on me" Kix answered the silent question amongst the small message. Wrecker could only nod. He then slung an arm around the medic.
"I understand, I do. I used to use drugs in the past. Not my proudest moments but, if you ever need to talk let me know. Despite our age differences, I know parts of what you might or may be feeling" Wrecker whispered, Kix could only nod welcoming in the warmth until he pulled away.
"Thanks Wrecker, now tell me when are you going to introduce your family to your girlfriend"
Wrecker looked in shock at the medic, "How did you know?". Kix could only chuckle, "I've worked with her, she was in the Black Sun's and texts me all the time about some strong man…."
"Really?"
"No she's my daughter" Kix bluntly said, wearing a smile on his face. Wrecker could only grin, "I'm sorry if I'm a disappointment…" Wrecker teased, only earning himself a slap.
"Enough of that. I know she will be safe and I don't have to worry about her as you are perfectly capable of looking after her. All I ask is give her time, now and then as she will just explode but all she needs is time" Kix explained, patting the giant's shoulder just as someone knocked on the front door. Wrecker smirked, walking off to answer it only to gasp at the woman standing opposite him. Kix grinned as she stepped in and hugged him before Wrecker and her went upstairs.
With a smile, Kix headed into the living room turning off the lights and TV. He left a note on the bench, grabbing a small bag, he left the house and headed for Jesse's car. Climbing behind the wheel, he smirked as he headed for one place and that could only be one area.
As the Sun rose…
Fives actually groaned, feeling his back pop as he stretched, taking notice of the room, he blinked not missing anyone until he noticed the lack of a certain medic. Whispers around the kitchen had his head turning to see none other than Gregor and Thorn, the two making some breakfast or as Gregor calls it, Big Plates Breakie.
Carefully extracting himself from Crosshair and Hunter's grip, he tiptoed into the kitchen only to smirk. Thorn had Casey in his arms as he swayed leaving Gregor to do the cooking.
"What are you guys doing here? At 08:00am?" Fives whispered. Thorn looked up with a smile.
"We were in the neighbourhood when we received a text from Wrecker asking for us to pop in," Gregor explained.
"I didn't text you" Wrecker muttered from where he entered with a young woman beside him. Thorn greeted his sister like he would any other day until it took him a minute to realise. He couldn't help but grin. Rose smiled, yes there were ten years between her and Wrecker but neither of them minded.
"Yes you did. Check my phone" Gregor said, passing the phone over to Fives who went straight onto it only to frown.
"Gregor, are you aware this is Thorns and it's been cloned"
"No, I didn't notice," Gregor said with a smile. "Wait, cloned! Who's cloning his phone?"
"Actually that's dad's old phone. I just haven't got around to changing the names" Thorn said passing over Casey to Fives who took his daughter. "It's cloned so Dad can find my phone as a tracker and is basically our spare medic phone. Speaking of which, where is dad?" Thorn explained looking around for his dad only for Jesse to appear looking worried.
"Thorn, Rose, where's your dad?" Jesse questioned only for the front door to open revealing the missing medic who entered with a smirking Quinlan Vos. The older man talking to the medic without a care in the world. Kix nodded in thanks walking over towards the kitchen, Jesse grabbed him pulling him aside into another room.
"Where were you? You vanished?"
"I was thinking"
"Kix"
"Fine, I was…at April's grave…"
Jesse could only frown wrapping up Kix, their still born. A long time ago, Jesse got a girl pregnant, she didn't want the baby but Jesse did. So they paid her to keep the baby girl. Only for the baby to be born still-born as the girl who was pregnant took drugs and anything to kill the baby while getting the money. There was a huge court battle which ended with Kix paying off the girl who stalked away with a smile. Unaware that she would be dead within a week after a mysterious killer killed her.
"Why didn't you ask me to come?" Jesse whispered.
"Because I don't need your permission or anyone's else’s to think. I can handle myself Jess, I have done for years" Kix snapped, his voice louder than he intended to as he shrugged off his husband and stalked out of the house with pain in his features. Jesse could only sigh, sharing a look with Thorn who sighed.
"You know he loves his independence, you have to remember he ain't good at accepting pain instead he prefers helping others through it" Rose explained, leaning against Wrecker who kissed her hair. Jesse could only nod.
"Do we have to worry about any kids? You know…" Thorn gestured at his sister who slapped him, "Hey! I know what protection is not like the snake over there" Rose aimed her point at Crosshair who only made a rude gesture. Fives only smirked.
"Now let me hold my niece, come here to Auntie Rose" Thorn watched his sister act childish in a fun way. All of them unaware that a certain someone had followed the medic out of the door.
Tech didn't know what to expect as he left the house and followed his dad towards the local park. He watched from a far as Kix took a seat only to drop his head in his hands.
"Dad? Tell me honestly, how are you coping with this pain?" Tech asked, taking a seat beside Kix who looked up with tears in his eyes.
"Caleb in all honesty, not good. I tried to take a pill last night and just couldn't…I want it to stop, I have become accustomed to it but the sharp chest pains aren't normal. Sometimes I forget things in the moment and think this is all a dream only to wake up in pure agony. I was so tempted to drive off that cliff last night but…I just can't…I…I'm sorry…" Sobs left his frame, Tech instantly wrapped him up. Kix clung to his son listening to his heartbeat. Tech held him close knowing his own news would have to wait. Kix kind of sensed something was wrong and pulled away only to search Tech's face.
"Caleb, what's wrong?" Kix asked, Tech could only cry out passing over a small letter. Kix pulled him close reading the letter only to gasp.
"Does he know? Does Tristan know?"
"No but Echo does" Tech whispered, hugging Kix close.
The medic only sighed, it would seem heartbreak was on its way whether it would stay a secret would be the question, he looked up hearing a roaring of an engine. His instincts never lied as a car pulled up.
"Need a lift?" Fox's voice had Kix looking across at his brother who smiled at him until he caught the tears. Fox was out of the car and by their sides within a blink of an eye.
"You okay? What's wrong?" Fox demanded pulling them both in, Tech could only sob, making Fox worry while Kix gestured he would explain later.
"Drop us off at the batches please but take a short trip to mine. I need to grab something" Kix said, Fox nodded, opening the backdoor allowing the two to climb in. Fox climbed into the front heading for Kix's house. A few broken traffic laws later found Kix standing in front of his house, he entered with a grimace only to see his whole world packed away. He headed up to his bedroom, looking for one thing. He opened the small green box and pulled the object from within it. He moved to leave when a noise had him whipping around only to gasp.
"Matthias Ryker. Your brother sent me in favour. What do you need?"
Kix was in absolute shock, his uncle was standing in front of him. The same man who turned his back on the whole family but owed Fox a few favours.
"I don't need anything"
"Are you sure? Fox said, you were being kicked away"
"No it's alright. I think I …" Kix didn't finish his sentence as his vision went dark and his body tipped sideways. At the last minute someone caught him and muffled voices could be heard.
"Kix! Hang on!"
He knew that voice but from where. His eyes fluttered closed as he felt his consciousness fall away from his body only to feel a pressure like no other. He tried to force his body awake only to find himself fighting something. A white light covered his vision as he found himself staring down at his body which was being desperately worked on by his uncle, brother and…oh god, Tech was performing CPR on him.
“Come it’s time”
“It’s not! I will decide when I leave!” Kix shouted only for something to hit him with full force and his body to fall into darkness.
