Nineteen long hours had passed since Hunter had personally carried Crosshair through the doors of the hospital, fifteen hours had passed since Kix personally got pulled into the surgery. According to a nurse, Crosshair was lucky to be alive and required a blood donation. Tech and Omega were the lucky ones to donate since Crosshair had to have the rarest blood type ever. The three relied on each other for blood donation.
During these hours, Howzer and Fox had been arrested on suspicions of terrorism and Cody was still missing. The police force were desperately trying to find the commander who had dropped off the grid. It was said the last person who had contact with him was Crosshair himself, the marksman obviously was unavailable. Rex, Jesse, Ahsoka and Amber sat around the waiting room waiting on the news.
“Father, will dad make it?” Omega asked from beside Hunter who snapped out of his thoughts. Wrecker was playing with Naomi while her twin younger brother was in Echo’s arms, Hera was taking apart some device Tech had given her. The kids were fairly quiet in the waiting room. Considering it had been Nineteen long hours and they had been in the private room one of the nurses had given them to pass the time.
“He has to” Hunter murmured, lifting an arm for her to snuggle close, Omega did just that, offering him a chocolate while she was at it. Hunter smiled accepting one, he passed it to the silent Fives right by side, not wanting to upset Omega. Fives ate it while he remained staring down at the floor. Wrecker looked across to his brother who was wearing a blank expression, it was mirrored on many of their faces.
“What’s taking so long?” Tech thought out-loud as he wrapped his arms around Hera. Echo moved to wrap an arm around his husband who leaned close to him. The question didn’t receive a vocal answer as the room was disturbed by the doors opening quite violently.
All heads turned to see Kix standing in the doorway, the doctor looked furious as another nurse appeared beside him only to rush past intending on going somewhere else.
“How is he?!” Rex asked for them all, Kix could only smile, “The little twat is awake and talking. He wants to see Hunter, Tech and Fives”. The three were quick to get up and follow the nurse through the corridors leaving Kix to deal with the others in the waiting room. Jesse was quick to wrap him up in a hug knowing his husband needed it, Kix sunk into Jesse’s arms. The others decided to give the two a minute knowing Kix had probably seen the worst of the marksman while the others only caught a glimpse.
It took a whole minute for Kix to compose himself and when he did he frowned noticing something was off, closing his eyes he sighed when Jesse pressed up against his back whispering words of reassurance. With a deep breath Kix turned to the room, “It was a close one, I lost him three times. He is very lucky to be alive, he will live but he has a long recovery time ahead of him” Kix explained, knowing he couldn’t let out too much personal information of the patient without his consent. Relief spread through the room until something caught Kix’s eye, he groaned seeing Obi-wan stalking into the room with his smug expression.
“Matthias Steiner, you are under arrest for terrorism and for doing illegal work. Please place your hands behind your back. Anything you say from this point forward can and will be used against you” Obi-wan said, Kix remained frozen in place with a glare as Jesse clung to him.
“No,” Kix said, backing away from all three officers in the room, “No? Kix. Just go with it, we can sort everything out at the station” Rex explained, Jesse remained silent knowing he would have to step in if Kix didn’t hand himself over and the last thing Jesse wanted to do was arrest his husband.
“Kix, I have asked you politely. Either come with us willingly or we take you in. I handled Fox, trust me. I can handle you” Obi-wan exclaimed, Kix glared at the man holding his hands out in a sign of defeat. Obi-wan grimaced as he handcuffed the doctor who refused to look any of them in the eye. Rex was then tasked to take him back to the station with Obi-wan.
Jesse was left in the waiting room with a nasty glare on his face, thankfully someone walked into the room with two smiling kids, Comet and Sinker ran for Wrecker to see Naomi again. Following them was Wolffe who shared a look with Jesse, the two brothers in the same position. It felt like something bigger was going down and they needed information out of Crosshair before Obi-wan managed to question him, so Jesse and Echo headed for Crosshairs room while Wolffe, Wrecker and Ahsoka were on babysitting slash watching out for Obi-wan duty. All of them unaware of the real enemy behind the camera’s of the hospital.
Once they reached the room, Echo knocked on the door only to receive a ‘come in’ from a much happier Hunter. Echo entered first as Jesse followed him waiting by the door allowing Echo to break the news. But first Echo had to take in the bed. Crosshair was smiling in both Hunter and Five’s arms, the younger man was laughing while Tech sat at the end of the bed with a face of relief. The four were smiling and were shocked to see Jesse and Echo.
“My twinny ninny, what can we do for you?” Fives teased, kissing Crosshairs forehead, Hunter rolled his eyes. It seemed the three had made up in a sense which only meant a bigger headache for Tech, Echo and Wrecker if arguments started god help them.
“Kix has been arrested” Echo bluntly said, wrapping an arm around his own husband. “What! Why?” Crosshair tried to push himself off the bed only for three pairs of arms to stop him. Hunter held onto him the tightest, when he found he wasn’t going anywhere. He slumped backwards, almost knocking Fives out with the force.
“We don't actually know but we think it's to do with so-called ‘terrorism and illegal work’. We think there is more to it and Cody is still missing. Is there any chance, you know where he is?” Jesse explained, stepping into the room to close the door silently. Crosshair frowned, taking in the information, “Howzer? Fox?” Crosshair turned to Jesse, “Police Station”, the blunt reply made the marksman smirk.
“No clue” Crosshair answered, looking off to the side where a camera was directly looking at them, all of them noticed the marksman’s new look. “Are you going to come and out play, Tarkin or do we have to do this again?” Crosshair spoke into the camera that switched off rapidly just as the hospital alarms started to go off.
Crosshair reached up to grab Jesse’s sleeve, “Fives knows where Cody is, it’s standard protocol in the Elite Squad to know where a shovel is kept in desperate times” Crosshair said leaning into Hunter allowing Fives to get up, just as Obi-wan made an appearance in the doorway with Rex following him in.
“Clear this room, I would like to speak to Crosshair, alone” Obi-wan spoke sternly, Fives nodded, directing Echo, Tech and Jesse out of the room.
“Technically Crosshair isn’t meant to be left alone, so I will be staying” Hunter’s tone showed the man wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon. Obi-wan could only frown as he nodded, taking a seat by the side of the silent marksman. Crosshair made it his purpose to distract Obi-wan as much as he could, giving Fives time to do as he needed.
Elsewhere…
Upon opening his eyes, he found himself in a pitch black room. Looking down he saw the chains tying him to a chair, he frowned as a stench filled his senses. His head spun wondering where he exactly was? He could really use some light! His thoughts seemed to be answered by the universe as bright lights filled his vision. Slowly blinking he noticed the blood on the walls and floor of what looked like an old cellar.
Someone reached forward to lift his chin violently. He smirked, earning himself a hard slap.
“Cody my son, it has been too long”
“Mother” Cody could only roll his eyes at the psychopath in front of him. She wore what looked like assassin clothes.
“You know what I want”
“Do remind me, it's been too long. Since I last saw you” Cody joked earning himself another slap.
“I want the location of the twins, my sons,” she said, pulling out one of her favourite weapons.
“Try your worst!” Cody glared at his mother who turned on one of her favourite torturous devices. Cody only gritted his teeth through the pain, he would protect his little brothers until it killed him.
Meanwhile…
Okay, Howzer was officially bored. There he sat in a cell with Fox and Kix on either side of him, the three had been sitting in the cell for a good seventeen hours now. Fox had given up on pacing and decided to get some beauty rest or he so-calls it. Kix was reciting something in his mind while Howzer was thinking about whether or not he had destroyed his soon to be marriage. Knowing he was overthinking everything, Howzer ended up closing his eyes just for a second only to reopen them as the cell door was blown off.
All three brothers were startled by the cell door until the building started to crumble, Howzer on instinct grabbed his two brothers as the ceiling collapsed and the two were shielded partially under the stable bench and by their older brother who was still recovering from chest pains. Pieces of concrete trapped them to the point they could hear voices on the other side of the wall and someone was tapping Howzer’s trapped leg. The older brother was quick to slow his heartbeat down allowing whoever on the other side to know they were dead, since the three brothers knew instantly, it wasn’t a rescue instead it was some enemy.
“They are dead”
“Are you sure?”
“No one could have survived that, inform Tarkin”
“Understood, now it's just the oldest son and then the twins will have to surrender the child”
Shortly after listening to the conversation, Howzer turned to Fox who sighed waking the silent Kix, the doctor pulled something out of his pocket revealing it to be his husband's indestructible radio. Howzer nodded taking it from Kix to send a message to Wolffe knowing only his soon to be husband would understand.
Elsewhere..
Having just helped Wrecker put all the children to bed, Wolffe found himself sitting in the safe house, well it was his. All of them would be staying near each other for quite some time while Crosshair recovered upstairs. The doctors had no choice but to let him go knowing Thorn could cover him if need be, the only thing the medical staff didn’t know was Thorn had moved towns.
“Sorry to disturb you Wolffe but your radio is beeping” Echo said from the kitchen, Wolffe sighed walking over to it only to gasp at the screen showing morse code. He quickly grabbed a piece of paper and pen knowing this message was directed at him.
