"Emotions"
________

Casey woke up crying out from a nightmare and she heard footsteps running up into the room and she was rocking back and forth, sobbing as she had her head between her hands.

"Casey. Casey, you just need to breathe." She heard Derek and she clenched her eyes shut.

"It burned." Casey whispered and he moved his arms around her as Casey was shuddering.

"Hey, just breathe Casey." Derek murmured and she looked up at him and he was shaking his head. "Were you back in the fire?" He asked and she nodded, shuddering with fear and tears ran down her face. "There's no fire." Derek murmured and she was nodding.

"I know. I know." Casey murmured quietly and she wiped at her eyes and she heard a growl from the basement.

"Tye's awake again." Derek muttered and Casey glanced at him with a clear question in her eyes. "You were asleep for three hours and in that time, Tye has woken up two times and I've had to knock him out twice since the first wake-up." He answered as Casey was nodding at the words. "You want to see him?" He asked and she rolled over to the other side of the bed to get up, retrieving the baton from the floor and Casey swiftly followed Derek, out of the room.

Derek had left the basement door open and he went down first, as the house shook and Casey's hand shot out and grabbed his, as she was still shaking and very jumpy, from the nightmare. Derek looked at her and blinked as his eyes glowed red as she continued to follow him.

Tye was snarling, yanking at the chains that were bolted into the floor and he roared at the sight of Casey, as she was half-hidden behind Derek. "I have never seen him like this." Casey murmured softly and she stepped out from behind Derek, looking at Tye as he roared at her, lunging forward and the chains yanked him back bolted by rings into the floor.

Casey put the baton into the holster on her hip and she looked at Tye, as he was snarling at her. "I know you're upset, T, but you have to snap out of it now. If you don't, you won't be able to turn back." Casey reminded him and he snarled and lunged at her.

Derek yanked Casey backwards just in time and Tye's claws nearly got her and Casey was shaking. "Thanks." She said and he nodded.

"He's losing it. We might have to kill him." Derek murmured and she was looking down at the floor and he was looking over at Tye again.

Casey bolted up the stairs and Derek sighed, swiftly knocking Tye out once again and he followed Casey. "Look, I don't want to kill him, but his human side is buried under so bunch of his rage, that we honestly... might not even have a choice." Derek said and she looked at him.

Casey looked at the basement door and she spun around, punching the wall hard with a hoarse shout.

Derek's eyes widened at the action and Casey looked at her fist and when she looked at it, the skin on her knuckles was broken, as she was opening and closing her hand to make sure that it wasn't broken.

"Are you okay?" Derek asked and she looked at him, shakin' her head as she put her hand into her pocket.

"I got him out of the fire, I got him through the rest of his schooling, I kept him out of the way of the other hunters, I helped him get over his fear of fire- I can't..." Casey's eyes were filling up again, as she shook her head. "God damn it." She said and Derek was crying too, a rare sight for anyone to see. "I can't kill him, Derek." She said with a choked tone and Derek nodded.

"I know." Derek admitted and she looked down, as she squeezed her eyes shut tightly. "I know, Casey, I know. Which is why, I am not asking you to kill him." He said and she was looking at him.

"Then, who the hell are you going to ask to kill him?" Casey asked and she looked up, as a knock came at her door and she looked at Derek. "Wolf?"

"Yeah. But not an alpha." Derek answered and Casey wiped at her eyes quickly, as she opened the door and she found that someone was there.

Freya, Kali and Ennis' daughter was standing there and immediately now, Derek was snarling at her and his claws were extended. "What the fuck do you want?" Casey asked as she was holding back Derek with her arm and she looked at Freya, without fear.

"I know how to help Tye." Freya admitted freely and she looked at them and she waited. Casey moved out of the way and so did Derek, who had put away his claws and fangs. "It is the person behind me, that might be a better help." She said and she looked behind her and to their audible shock, Trent Argent was standing there with glowing yellow eyes.

"How in the hell, did you manage that?" Casey asked and Trent looked over at Derek, as Casey's eyes moved over to him. "You knew?" She asked.

"Yeah." Derek murmured and she slammed the door behind them all, as she stormed up to her room. "Casey, wait, hang on!" Derek called as Casey slammed the door between them and she sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Can you at least let me explain?" He asked quietly and silently, she looked over at the door.

Casey opened the door as she looked at him. "Why?" She asked and Derek's eyes shone briefly, as she moved to let him into the room.

"If I had known at all, how Tye was going to react, then I never would've gone along with it." Derek said and she looked at him.

"Trent was worried about the other hunters, specifically your family. He thought that the best way to prevent them from actually kill him, would be to fake it so realistically that the pack, would also think that he was dead. He took a bullet from your gun and Trent shot himself in the stomach." Derek said and he sat down next to her and Casey raised her eyebrows. "Once the poison had spread enough, he was coughing up both the healing black blood and mistletoe, he got me to take pictures and he acted dead. Then Cora and I burned the poison out of him before he actually died." Derek said and she looked at him. "I would have told you, I was going to. I swear that I was... But, Tye got to you first." Derek said and Casey looked down silently at her knees as she was contemplating the new information.

"Just next time, tell me." Casey murmured and Derek nodded his head so fast at the words, that it did honestly look like his head was going to fall off. "You're paying for my medical bills." Casey said and Derek sighed with relief as she looked at him and she was shaking her head. "Don't be so stupid next time." Casey said as he nodded. "You Hales... You are going to be the literal death of me." She said as she rested her head on his shoulder and Derek looked at her.

"You have been saying the words about that, since we were 14 years old." Derek reminded her and Casey shrugged. "Doesn't mean, that I want it to happen. Just saying." Casey nods and she shrugged again.

"You aren't wrong. How is that teacher from the school doing? After the full moon shenanigans?" Casey asked and Derek let out a surprised laugh at the words. "What?" She asked and Derek shrugged.

"Where in the hell, did that random question come from Casey?" He asked and Casey raised her eyebrows. "Are you jealous?" Derek asked.

"Je-jealous?" Casey stammered over her words and she shoved him, as he was laughing at her. "I have nothing to be jealous over." She said as Derek laughed at her embarrassment.

"Your chemo-signals are saying otherwise. Jealousy, embarrassment, annoyance... You really should check your emotions, you know." Derek was just messing with her now, as Casey's scoff was clear.

"In your dreams, Derek." Casey said and he raised his eyebrows. "Go away would you?" She asked.

"I'm stuck." Derek said and he motioned toward the window and she shook her head.

"I meant "get out of my personal space and my room," Derek, not out of my house." Casey said and Derek was lifting his shoulders, as he walked out of the room. "Did you go and see her?"

"Yeah. But I thought that you didn't care." Derek said and she rolled her eyes at the words, he could tell, the same way that he could smell the clear sort of embarrassment.

Casey shut the door as she turned around and she stood at the window quietly, staring at the moon that was overhead.

"I shouldn't be jealous, so, why the hell am I jealous? It isn't like we are a thing--"

Casey knew that her mind was going to keep going around in a circle as she eventually threw on a hoodie and she went to go and then make herself some food.
