The sun beamed through the window as you heard the waves crashing onto the shoreline, throwing the blanket over your face so you could pretend it was dark again and continue sleeping. It wasn't long before you felt the rough boops of Zeus' nose on your back and his small growls trying to get you to wake up. Rhea began to whine as her excitement grew as she woke from her sleep.
You let out a long dramatic sigh, "alright alright I'm coming". You stretch your body for a few moments releasing some tension and stand up on the cold dark wooden floors. You pet your dogs as they followed you to the bathroom watching you brush your teeth. Once you finished you turned to see their little tails wagging with even more excitement than 3 minutes ago.
They both bolt down the stairs the moment you opened the bedroom door as you threw on your black fuzzy slippers and shuffled down the stairs following behind them. They patiently wait for you by the back door to let them out and that's when you remembered that today was the day Eren was coming home from his business trip.
You unlocked the door and took out the safety bar on the other side of the sliding glass door and watched as they ran to use the bathroom in the small grassy area you have in your backyard. You took a breath of the fresh salty air and smiled, life has been pretty peaceful - it's almost concerning. A part of you is even more on guard because you're used to the chaos...but you're just trying to enjoy the quiet while it lasts.
You hoped it would last forever..
Zeus and Rhea both ran back inside and you walked over to the kitchen as you fed them first before preparing your own breakfast. Thankfully you showered the night before so you could easily start getting ready to pick up Sasha and Annie to help pick out her wedding dress. Six months before the wedding, and we've been to 10 different stores...today, 11.
You connect your phone to the speaker and begin playing some music while you began to dice up some red skin potatoes and season them. Since those would take the longest to make, you figured you'd do a little cleaning and maybe pick out your outfit for the day. You put the potatoes in the oven and set a timer for 35 minutes since the rest of the food will only take about 10 minutes to make.
Shirt - SZA
You turn on your roomba and begin cleaning the counters from the mess you made cutting the potatoes. Dancing around the kitchen and out to the living room to fix the pillows on the couch, and fold the blankets you left unfolded after falling asleep for a nap earlier yesterday.
As much as you sometimes missed having everyone around, it was times like those you appreciated your alone time and being able to just walk around in a long t-shirt and underwear while cleaning your house and making food. It was the simple and small things you began to love and be thankful for.
35 minutes went by pretty fast and the aroma of eggs and bacon filled the room as you prepped the rest of the breakfast, sitting down with a hot plate of food and scrolling through Instagram. Nothing interesting to see on your feed, except memes and videos of animals. It's almost like instagram heard your thoughts of wanting to keep life peaceful.
You close your phone and set it down while finishing your food. Rhea and Zeus' ears stand up and they both are on red alert, your heart drops to the pit of your stomach as you wonder what the fuck could possibly be happening at 9am on a Tuesday. Maybe you spoke too soon about it being quiet.
"What is it?" You whisper over to Rhea and Zeus, they slowly creep forward and you finally hear the beeping of the alarm getting turned off.
Eren.
The dogs go running towards the garage door as their tails wag once they realized who it was. You see them jump up as Eren walks down the hallway, hair in a bun, black pants, and a black button shirt that already had the tie taken off and a few buttons undone. "I know, I know. I missed you guys too." He chuckled as he attempted to walk towards the kitchen.
"C'mon you two, I just wanna see your mom." Eren begged but he's been gone for two weeks, they weren't going to just let him be.
"Zeus! Rhea! Come here!" You yell out to try and help the situation but neither would listen. You stood up and walk over to take a good look at Eren, you missed him. His smile, his scent, everything. You cross your arms over your chest and lean against the door frame to the kitchen.
Eren looks at you and smiles, "it smells delicious in here, did you make something?"
"I did, but I only made enough for me. No idea you were coming home this early." You reply, "you want me to make you something?" Eren shook his head, "no I'm okay. Thank you though." You turn around and walk over to the table to put your plate away. It's almost awkwardly quiet between you two right now, you were unsure why.
"Everything okay Princess?" Eren broke the silence after a few seconds and walked over to you placing his hand on your back and gently rubbing it. You close your eyes, enjoying the feeling and take a deep breath, "yeah it just felt awkward for a second, almost like you had to tell me something."
"I do."
It got quiet again, and his hand found his way around your hip, grabbing you and pulling you towards him. He grabbed your chin and pressed his lips against yours, gently licking your lips. He tasted sweet and slightly minty. It's been two weeks since you felt him touch you, the hairs on the back of your neck began to stand as you felt electricity flow through your body.
He was leaning against the counter while facing you, his leg in between your thighs. "I missed you so much," you cooed as you pulled away from him. He continued to softly kiss your jawline, down your neck, and to your chest - letting out small moans because even the slightest touch in this moment would make you burst.
Your breathing became heavier as your hardened nipples brushed against your baggy shirt, and your swollen cunt rubbed against your damp underwear.
"Eren?"
"Hm?" He replied quietly, enjoying his time with you in the kitchen.
Before you could respond you hear your front door burst wide open, "good morning fuckers!" Connie appeared around the corner and you and Eren didn't move from your positions but looked straight at Connie.
"What the hell did I tell you about letting yourself in without letting me know you're here?!" Your eyes were wide and your eyebrows furrowed as Connie began to laugh. "What? It's not like I've never seen you two make out before y/n."
"That's not the point Connie, that's our business...I wouldn't do that to you. Also, Zeus and Rhea could literally mistake you as an intruder one day! You need to be smart!"
He threw both his hands up knowing he was in the wrong and turned to walk towards the living room, "sorry sorry, you're right. I don't wanna be dog chow." Connie sat down and turned on the tv as you and Eren looked at each other wondering what the hell just happened and why he's been coming over unannounced more than usual.
"I'm gonna go put some pants on." You say in a disappointed tone, and walk away out of the kitchen and into your room. You look at the time and realize Annie will be over in less than an hour to come get you and you decide to just change and get ready quickly and ask Connie questions later.
Pondering on what Eren has to talk to you about as well. You wondered what him and Zeke found out, hoping it wasn't too bad.
Almost two years have passed since the incident of flying out to Germany to save Eren's dumb ass, it was also the night Reiner and Bertholdt died. Which wasn't too long after Porco got taken out by Yelena and Eren's people. Some of the story behind it still confuses you, why a lot of people wanted Eren dead so badly.
How people could carry so much hate for one person, it was crazy to you.
It was also the last time you flew to Germany.
You heard a light knock at the door as you hop a little to pull your light blue jeans over your hips, "yeah?" You call out and Eren walks in and sits down on the bed. You watch him as he stares off into the distance, he definitely had something to say - it probably wasn't good news either.
"Just say it." You spit out eagerly. He looks up at you and takes a deep breath in, "while Zeke and I were on our trip we went to the cemetery where Reiner and Bertholdt we're supposedly buried-" you blinked a few times and shook your head, "woah woah woah, supposedly?"
"Just let me finish."
You nod your head and Eren continued to talk, "anyway...while we were walking around we ran into Pieck and it didn't go well at all. Which, why would it? We killed her boyfriend and I mean I wouldn't be happy to see that person eit-"
"Eren, focus. What's going on?" You interrupt Eren as he lost his train of thought and began spewing on about something else. He continued to talk again and you listened to him, every word he spoke began to make you feel sick to your stomach. All of a sudden that weight on your chest came back, you try to make yourself swallow but you couldn't. Your mouth and throat were so dry, you almost felt like you were choking.
You began to bite the inside of your cheek and fidget with the necklace you wore, hoping he would tell you this was a joke but those words were never spoken. You definitely felt like you jinxed yourself after thinking earlier how you enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Eren stood up as he saw you disassociate, "don't you worry. I won't let anyone hurt you." He placed a soft kiss on the top of your head and pulled you into his chest. "So, who is it? Did you find out?" You finally spoke up again. Eren shrugged, "no idea...it could literally be my own brother, one of the guards, we don't know."
You shook your head in disbelief, the last thing you needed was to worry about who's been secretly telling Pieck everything - from every move, to every kill. Yelena is missing, and Gabi is also nowhere to be found which is even more worrisome for you and the bald patch that just grew back in.
"So now what?" You ask.
"We kill everyone and start over." Eren responded with a small grin on his face. You couldn't help but wonder if a part of him was serious or not, but that was the last thing on your mind. You roll your eyes at his response and turned around to grab your bag that was hanging in the closet.
Eren reaches into his pocket and hands you his black AMEX card, "here - take you and the girls out to lunch and buy whatever you want." You smile and go to grab his card but he snatches the card back, "on one condition." He says and your hand falls back to your side, "what's the condition?" You ask.
"Don't tell anyone what I just told you, you keep it between us."
"Fine." You sigh and hold your hand out for the card once more. "I'm serious, they will find out when I find out more information. This is Annies wedding you're preparing for, she doesn't need anymore stress and neither does Armin."
"Eren, I agree with you. I wasn't planning on saying anything - but I will be joining you on finding whoever this is." You watched as Eren's face dropped, you knew that was a conversation that was not going to fly but you didn't care. You hated knowing everything and not being able to help more than half the time or having to sneak around to do it.
Eren shook his head, "absolutely not."
"Absolutely yes. There is no yes or no, the last thing I need is to be ambushed again. If Gabi is missing, you know it's because she's looking for me."
"Then we take care of her, you don't need to be involved in this at all y/n!" His voice gets louder and more stern as he turns around and walks towards the small balcony you have in your room. You follow behind him, "stop walking away from me Eren...I've already made my mind up."
"And what if she gets to you? What if I'm not there or someone isn't there again to help you?" He asks as he looks out watching as the clouds began to turn gray over the ocean. You walk over and place your hand on his shoulder, "I won't leave yours or anyone's side, I swear. I just want to be involved, and I'd love to smack the little grin off of her face."
"You're gonna have to do much more than that." He let's out a long exhale, "fine...but you're gonna learn more self defense just in case, you're going to learn how to handle different kinds of guns and weapons. You're hands are going to get bloody, you sure this is what you want?"
"I am and I was when I first moved in." You say confidentially as he looks at you out of the corner of his eyes. It's not like your hands haven't been covered in blood before, but you guess compared to the other few...they're weaker than Gabi and Pieck. Everyone around me has been highly trained and Eren has always kept me in this cage, away from everyone and everything.
Tomorrow that changes.
Eren grabbed your hand and played with your fingers, "don't die, be smart. Don't trust anyone, and enjoy your day today. I'll call Levi and get your training going tomorrow morning." Your free hand trailed up the side of his neck to rest on his cheek, "don't worry, I wasn't planning on dying anytime soon."
"Unfortunately, the things we have planned or expect in life don't always go how we want. Life isn't fair, and if someone is wanting to kill you...nothing will stop them." Eren looks at you dead in the eyes as you look back, unsure if he was really trying to scare you out of this.
He was right, there was no arguing with that statement but it still didn't change your mind. You owned half this empire of his, you might as well do the job besides checking emails and voicemails from time to time while he's gone. You looked down at your feet and took a deep breath, "I know, but-"
Eren cut you off, "no buts. Although, you won't die because I will always be right behind you, if someone lays a finger on you I will torture them slowly until they're begging me to kill them already." He places a kiss on your forehead, "now let's go back inside, I'm sure Annie will be here soon."
Eren began to walk back into your room and you couldn't help but be frightened and turned on all at the same time when he spoke like that. You've never seen the darkest sides of him, he hid that pretty well from you. The stories you've heard of him in the past, and the person you wake up to every morning are two completely different people.
You couldn't help but wonder what you would even think if you saw him torture someone, or do whatever he and Yelena do. You quivered at the thought and walked back inside to check your phone, noticing a couple missed calls from Annie.
"Ah fuck," you muttered to yourself and realized Eren had already left the room to go say hi. You put your phone in your purse and walked out into the hallway closing the bedroom door behind you. Your footsteps echoed down the hall, your mind wandered - wondering yet again who's telling Pieck and Gabi everything.
Eren seems so calm about all of this too which seemed off to you as well. Is there more he isn't telling you?
You turn the corner and you see Annie, you quickly smiled and walked over to give her a hug. "Ready to finally find the perfect wedding dress?! 11th times a charm!" Annie laughed and rolled her eyes at you, "I just want this wedding to be perfect."
"I know, and it will be. I promise." You reassured her and realized Sasha wasn't around, "where's Sasha?" Annie pointed at the kitchen, "in her natural habitat...better your fridge than mine." You softly smile at Annie and walk towards your kitchen, "Sash let's go."
Sasha turns around as she's shoving your leftover potatoes in her mouth that you didn't finish from earlier, "hold on let me finish these! I'll be right there!"
"Just hurry please," you respond and walk back towards Annie, "where's Eren? I just wanna say bye."
"He had to take a phone call, he's in his office." Annie replied as her phone began to ring, "it's Armin, just get Sash and meet me in the car." You watched as she answered her phone and walked away, admiring how much she's changed since her and Armin began dating.
Annie has this glow to her, but it wasn't the pregnancy glow that you get...she's just genuinely happy. She deserves every single second of it.
"Sasha we're leaving as soon as I say bye to Eren so you better be ready!!" You yell out as you slowly guide yourself to Eren's office. You heard Sasha try to respond with her mouth full and then she swallowed, "got it! Sorry, I didn't eat breakfast this morning!" You chuckle, "no worries, my food is your food!"
You noticed the office door was cracked open, "Eren?" You grab onto the doorknob and slowly began to open the door, he must've not heard you say his name because you finally heard loud mumbles from the patio outside. You slowly walk towards Eren so you can listen, the closer you got the louder his voice was.
You didn't interrupt him, you just stood there - listening to everything that came out of his mouth. You weren't sure how you felt in this moment, but you realized that all of the stories you were told was true. Not that you didn't believe them, but it's different when you see it and hear it for yourself.
You took another moment before you cleared your throat, watching as Eren quickly turned around.
"Y/n..."
