I toss my pencil aside, "I give up"
I've just never really been a math person, it's not for me. I mean I would be ok with it if it weren't for the letters, algebra may as well be a riddle at this point. Santi likes math, I'm more of an English kind of girl. Home economics too.
"Here I'll just do it for you"
I sigh, "Thanks"
"Let's just hope Miss Mathews doesn't realise that it's me-
A knock sounds throughout my door before it's opened by Enzo and Matty, I look away from my desk with a frown "Ew. Leave"
Enzo snorts "We're here for Santi, relax barbie"
"What"
"Carmens doors locked" Matty tells him
I lean back in my seat, "It's called privacy"
"She's acting sus and someone's in there" Enzo says whilst playing with a screwdriver in one hand
"Lock breaking? I'm in" Santi gets up right away and I scoff
"You guys are disgusting, she could be-
Enzo interrupts me "She's not, trust me if she was the whole house would know"
He's not wrong
The three of them leave and I roll my eyes as I go back to my homework. Carmens sneaky but I'm not as stupid as my brothers, I literally saw and heard her bring Carter in last night. Me personally I don't know if I'm rooting for team Carmer, but I trust that my sister knows what she's doing.

Santi points his knife at me as I lean on the wall, "You didn't either"
"We share a wall dumbass and the sliders by her door were a pretty dead giveaway. So congratulations Sherlock, you three picked a lock for no reason. Feeling proud?" I question with amusement
"Yes I do, I can finally stop hating him now" Enzo says before heading downstairs
"Don't be shading us cause we figured it out before you" Santi follows him and I roll my eyes
"I've got it!" Matty runs past me with his soccer ball in hand and I frown
That was until Carmens door opened wider and I came face to face with Carter himself. He does that awkward face, "Adri"
"Try not to fuck up this time will you"
That's all I could say to him because obviously things are back to normal between him and my sister.
When I was done with my homework I realised that I was quite hungry and in need of a snack, I was supposed to be meeting Hayley later but I can't be bothered at all. I'm really starting to become a homebody.
"Come on pick up", Carmen mutters as I come down the stairs
"What's wrong?"
She turns around and that's when I get a view of her neck, it's been vandalised. I'm not even joking, her and Carter need to learn some self control because this hickey situation is crazy. I scoff, "Dude your neck"
She swats my hand away as she ends the call, "Lola's not answering her phone. Do you know where she is?"
I shrug, "She probably went out with a friend"
"Without telling anyone?"
"I mean yeah... we've all done it"
She thinks to herself for a moment and I use this opportunity to question her, "So you and Carter huh"
"What?.... Oh right. Yeah I'm still trying to figure that one out"
"So you guys talked about everything? No questions, no grudges-
She snorts, "I know about the other girls Adri and he explained to me why he's been.... Behaving differently. I'm not mad, I'm just happy to have him back"
"Fair enough"
As long as she's happy and as long as Carter told her everything then I'm fine.
Just as I'm about to text Lola myself she enters the house with a suspicious bucket load of happiness and some clothes that evidently don't belong to her, an unfamiliar hoodie and some jeans.
Carmen scoffs, "Lola"
She turns around and I narrow my eyes suspiciously, "Where were you"
Our sister shrugs, "I went out" Is all she says before going upstairs
"For how long?" Carmen questions
"Since last night!" She calls back before shutting her bedroom door
C raises her eyebrows with surprise, "What the hell"
"Yeah scratch what I said, we'll follow up on that later"
So I know I'm supposed to be a nicer girl now who isn't problematic but this time I'm simply just being a sister, Lola's outed me many times in the past and although I'm not grudging... it's her turn in the hot seat today. Unfortunately though, Carter has stayed for dinner.
Carmen cuts through her stake with a frown and Santi pokes her, "Stop"
I always found it interesting when she did that, well I did until I figured out why she does it. Anyway besides the point. "I can't eat it whole can I" She scoffs
"You're trying to figure out the calories"
"It's two hundred and seventy one ass hole-
"No calorie talk" Mom interrupts
"Hey C, how many are in my potatoes", Matty stupidly asks
"If it's one hundred grams then I'm guessing somewhere in the seventies-
"Dude", Enzo scoffs
Carter leans over, "Look just..-
He cuts her stake into four quarters and my brother frowns. He shrugs, "It's her pattern"
Ok I'll admit, that was cute
Carmen looks at him as if he makes her feel special which tells me everything I need to know, "Thanks"
My dad spoke to Carter a little more, the boys joined in on their conversation about none other than sports. It was getting a little boring so that was the time I decided to bring up the little topic, "So C shall we ask about that thing?" I ask casually
She frowns as she drinks from her glass, "What thing?" Her and Enzo question
"The Lola thing"
Our little sister looks up with narrowed eyes
"Umm no I thought we were kind of doing that later"
Santi looks between the two of us confused whereas Carter and my father just frown. "What the fuck are you doing" Lola scoffs as if she knows where this is going
Sounds suspicious if you ask me
I look at her with amusement and fake surprise, "Well since you wanna swear and get annoyed all of a sudden, why don't you share with us where you went"
"Here we go" Carmen mutters
She gives me a look, "I didn't go anywhere"
Our dad narrows his eyes at her suspiciously
"Really? Cause that's not what it looked like to Carmen and I-
"I'm not involved", She informs everyone as she refills her glass
"Well then maybe you need to start minding your business", Lola says with irritation
I gasp, "Oh shit does this mean you're finally not a virgin?"
Enzo and Santi look back at our sister, "Tell me she's lying" Santiago says seriously

I raise my eyebrows, "See? No denial"
"I'm giving you a chance to explain", Dad says to her
"There's nothing to explain, Adris a shit stirrer" She mutters
I tut, "Well I mean... you did leave the house at midnight"
"What?", Mom scoffs
"So what? I went to a sleepover-
"And you didn't feel the need to tell anyone why?"
"You didn't do this with Carmen when you saw Carter today-
"See now that's kind of different", She interferes
"Maybe she just didn't want to wake you guys up", Carer suggests
"Exactly, leave me alone now", Lola says annoyed
"So which friend were you seeing-
"Actually you know what? I'll just go", She puts her plate into the sink before heading upstairs
"Why must you always start a war at the table?" Carmen questions
I flip my hair back, "All she had to do was fess up"
At least Carters finding this funny
"Well now you know who the problem starter is" Dad tells him
He smiles a little, "I figured it was always Adri"
"Well you guessed right" Carmen replies
Mom then gestures to her plate, "You didn't finish"
"I left three slices"
"Snack later"
"Yeah yeah"
Matty wastes no time in grabbing her plate and sliding the food onto his, I'm still wondering about that Lola situation. She got let off the hook way too easy, I guess what they say about being younger is true. Standards change every single time, I mean Lola's getting away with not having a Quince for her birthday whilst me and Carmen had to suffer.
Mine was horrible, mom invited Juan and Valentina and all they did was finish my birthday cake plus steal my presents.
Carmen and Carter left and then eventually everyone else started to, my dad sighs as it's just us. "Adri"
"Yeah"
"She's younger than you", He reminds me
"Meaning?"
"Meaning you don't need to be so cruel. There was another way this could've been dealt with, matter of fact you and Carmen could've solved it on your own without telling on her"
"Oh please" I snort
"I will talk to her later but for now, go and apologise to your sister"
"Dad-
"Go"
I kiss my teeth before getting up and going upstairs, my sisters door is closed so I knock and wait. "What!"
I open the door, "It's me"
She sits up quickly, "Did they buy it?"
I grin as I shut her door behind me, "They did"
Lola breathes a sigh of relief, "Good"
My sister came up with a genius plan to deter our mother away from the idea of throwing her a quince. We reckon that if she's able to get into a lot of trouble then hopefully Isabella will decide that she doesn't deserve one at all, I told her to stay at a friends house last night without telling anybody so earlier with Carmen I was pretty much acting. Genius I know.
"No but seriously, consider acting"
She sits up with a smile, "I was good wasnt I"
I sit on her bed, "Surprisingly"
"So"

"I could tell you weren't really pleased with Carter being back"
I shrug, "It's not like I'm not pleased. I just really want C to be careful"
"Aw look at you being all protective" Lola says amused
"Shut up"
"No but seriously, I think he just really missed her. It'll work this time"
I sigh as I turn on her tv, "Let's hope your right. Otherwise I'll make sure to frame him just like I did with Juan and Valentina"
She laughs, "Oh my God we have to tell C about that"
I smile, "Totally"

"Afternoon family"
I then look at Carter, Aaron and Zoe. "And friends of family"
"Bitch please", Aaron replies
No surprise that my sister is sitting here with Carter, however I'm not going to complain because I'm trying this thing where I go a day without complaining.
"Who can write a good permission slip", Lola asks as she sits down
Aaron volunteers immediately, "Me. Me"
"Anyone other than Aaron"
"Here let me do it", Carmen tells her
"What is it for?" Zoe asks suspiciously
"I have gym next and quite frankly I'd prefer to go home"
"You girls are lazy", Santi replies
"No, we just have a life" Carmen corrects him
Honestly only the npc's participate in gym, at least with my grade anyway. The sporty kids will only participate if it's their sport that we're playing and as for me I just simply don't turn up.
As we're chatting Eve and Riannon sit on either side of me, "Afternoon ladies" Santi says to them with a toothpick in his mouth
Eve smiles as she twirls her hair around her finger, "Hey"
Now I have friends but I don't have friends because I know how fake all of these girls are, except for Hayley. Anyway I do classify Riannon as a friend which is why I can understand why she's sitting here but as for Eve I know damn well that she's here for my brother. But I know how Santi is and sometimes he can be a bit of a heartbreaker so it's not my problem if she gets hurt, Daniel is probably the only loyal brother.
"No me gustan tus amigo", Carmen tells me

"Yeah. Whatever we're talking about", Aaron agrees as if he knows what's being said
"What do you have next period?", Eve asks my twin innocently
Zoe looks at her weirdly
"He has class. And so do you" Carmen replies
"Dude don't cock block", Carter mutters to her
"I'll do what I like"
Santi waves us all off, "I have math. But now I won't be going because I'll be with you"
Eve grins and I roll my eyes, "Ok both of you just get out of our sight please"
Eve leaves with my brother and then it's just Riannon left to face my brutal older sister and her friends, "Ummm I'll see you later" I can tell she felt awkward because of the sudden exit ticket
Once gone Carmen resumes talking with the rest of her friends and I can't help but smile, this has honestly just reminded me of how much I missed my sister. She's almost like someone that a lot of people look up to, she's pretty popular, is ready to defend me and Lola no matter what happens even if we're in the wrong and she looks out for everyone.
