Barry’s POV
“What about this one, Dynasty?” I asked, pointing at the ring through the glass. “That one’s nice, but can you afford it?” Dynasty asked as she came over. I pulled out my wallet and counted my money “400” I said, I checked the price and smiled when I saw that I could just afford it. I looked at Dynasty then at the ring, the bright blue diamond, the exact copy of her eyes “Right, I’m gonna go buy it” I said and walked into the shop.
I walked into school with Dynasty and Kacey, the ring in my pocket bulging a little bit but someone seemed to notice it. “Kait’s here yet?” I asked, walking over to Scout and Rhiannon “Not yet, she said she was running late, seeing someone from when we lived in Rochdale” Scout said, I stared at her but nodded before pulling out my phone. Happy birthday, princess, I got a right big surprise for ya baby <3 I texted her before sitting down with Scout and Rhiannon while Dynasty went over to Imogen.
Kaitlin’s POV
“Kyle” I said as I walked toward the familiar boy, I’d recognise him a mile off, he turned around and smiled before pulling me into a hug. “So how’s my birthday baby?” He asked, wrapping his arms round my waist. “He’s great and I ain’t ya baby” I said and he pouted, I slapped him playfully and kissed him on the cheek. “So when’d you get out?” I asked, placing my hands on his arms. “Other week, went to see my mum first, she told me you’d all moved up here so I thought what the hell, let’s go see my girl” He said and pressed his lips against mine, I put my hands on his chest and pushed him back “What ya doin’?” I snapped at him, he just stared at me. “Wha-What do you mean?” He asked, I could tell he was confused but I wasn’t going to let him get the better of me, not again. “We broke up, Kyle, when you got arrested, Kyle, I agreed to see you cause I wasn’t going to hold a grudge” I said and backed away from him a little. “Y-You never broke up with me?” He asked, he didn’t do anything, just stared at me as if I was foreign. “I’d of thought the fact that you got arrested for trying to kill one of my best friends was enough” I snapped and walked away from him, starting towards school. I jumped when I felt my phone vibrate and pulled it, smiling when I saw Barry’s name and number but frowed my eyebrows when I read what he put I’m coming now, baby <3 I replied and walked to school, luckily I got there 5 minutes before form started.
“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Kaitlin, happy birthday to you” Scout, Rhiannon, Kevin, Jade, Connor, Imogen, Dynasty, Kacey and Barry sang as I walked through the doors, I smiled and walked over sitting down on Barry’s lap. “Happy birthday baby” Barry said and pulled something out of his pocket. “What’s this?” I asked and opened the box up, my eyes widening when I saw the ring “Oh my god, Barry, it’s beautiful!” I gasped and he put it on my finger, “It’s a special ring” he said, looking at me. “I want you to marry me, Kaitlin” he said, I looked at him and thought for a moment before letting a huge smile spread across my face. “Of course I will, baby” I said and pushed my lips against his as the other’s cheered.
“Happy birthday, darling” My dad said as I walked into his office, he’d allowed me off form so I could go and see him, he pulled out a wrapped box and handed it to me as I sat down opposite him. I ripped off the paper and smiled at the IPod “Thank you, dad!” I exclaimed and hugged him tightly, “Alright, darling, you best go to class” Dad said, I smiled and nodded before heading towards the door “Ooh, Kaitlin” Dad said, suddenly, I turned to him and he nodded towards the corner where I saw a balloon swaying a little. I walked up to it and grabbed it before skipping out of the office, waving at Sonya as I went. Everyone said happy birthday to me as I skipped down the hall, I smiled as my fiery red hair blew around in my face but I didn’t mind, I was happy, it was my birthday, I was now engaged to my Barry and nothing and I meant nothing could ruin this mood, not even Kyle Stack.
“Happy birthday, Kaitlin” Mr Chalk said as I walked through the door “Thanks Chalky” I said before walking over to sit next to Barry, I’d been in the Maths with the PRU students for a few weeks now since they found out how crap I was at it. I sat down and quickly kissed Barry on the lips “Nice balloon, baby” He said and winked at me before hitting it with his hand, “Stop it” I said and punched him in the arm. After about half an hour of not paying attention to anything Chalky was saying, I just stared out the window, watching the world go by, watching the old people walk along the street together, the little kids playing in the street, Kyle walking through the school gates…”Wait what?” I said and sat up, “What?” Barry asked, I ripped my eyes away from the window and looked at Barry, everyone was staring at me, I looked back out the window before grabbing my bag and balloon and walking out the room. “What the fuck are you doing here?” I screamed at Kyle, I shoved him back and he nearly fell over “I came to see you…” Kyle muttered and looked down, “I want to take you somewhere” Kyle said and grabbed my arm, pulling me up the drive way. “Get the fuck off me!” I screamed at him, I started to kick and punch but he didn’t let me go, he tightened his grip on my arm and dragged me “GET OFF HER!” I heard someone scream, we both turned around and I smiled a little when I saw Barry, Kyle let go as Barry charged at him and tackled him to the ground, “What’s going on?!” Someone shouted, I turned around and saw my dad and Mr Clarkson running towards us, “Break it up!” They shouted as each took a hold of each boy and pulled them apart. “Kyle?” My dad said in surprise, “Alright Mr Byrne, catch up over tea can wait till later. I wanna know who this puff is!” Kyle spat, I stood with Barry and gripped his arm “My boyfriend!” I spat back at Kyle, I knew this was the first that dad would hear of it but I didn’t care, if we were going to get married then he’d find out soon enough, better late than never. I looked at dad who just looked like he’d been smacked in the face by a brick, but I ignored it and turned to Kyle before taking Barry’s hand and walking him inside. “Come on, let’s get you to the nurse” I said and walked him down the hall to where the nurse’s office was.
Barry’s POV
We were having a surprise party for her; it was Maggie’s idea to have it at the guest house, Dress up, baby, I’m taking you out <3 I texted her before running up the stairs, I pulled on a shirt and some jeans then pulled on some shoes. “Where are you going?” My mum asked when I walked down the stairs, I froze as my hand clasped around the door handle “Out” I said, she didn’t know about me and Kaitlin, she didn’t need to know either. “Who with?” mum asked, I looked at Dynasty for help but she just stared at me, not saying a word. “Just some friends, it’s Kaitlin’s birthday so we’re taking her out” I said, I’d mentioned Kaitlin of course, she’d been round before but only for Dynasty, I hadn’t been able to hint to anything or act like her boyfriend. “Isn’t Dynasty going?” Mum asked, looking at my sister. “Yeah, I’m going later on once I’ve done some coursework” Dynasty lied, in all honesty, she was just going to go to the guest house a little after me, to help them get ready for it. My mum just looked at me, a questioning look on her face but she smiled and nodded, allowing me to go.
“Evening, Barry” Mr Byrne said when he opened the door to my face; I looked at him and cracked a smile. “Kaitlin!” He shouted up the stairs, my jaw almost dropped at the sight of her, her long, red hair was perfectly straightened, her eyes were a smokey shade of black and her lips were a pale shade of pink, she was wearing pale pink dress with a black belt and black heeled shoes. “Now, I’m not happy with you two being together, but I’ll deal with that tomorrow, I want Kaitlin to have a good birthday so just go on out and I’ll try to forget about it for now” Mr Byrne said, I nodded and took Kaitlin’s hand and we walked up the path. I was taking her out for dinner first so they could get the guest house ready, I smiled when I saw she was wearing the ring and the bracelet I bought her “Well, order what you want, babe, I’m paying” I said and she got the menu out and started to read through it.
After about an hour or so, I got a text from Dynasty saying we’re ready, you can bring her xx I smiled, we’d just finished eating and had paid when I got the text, “Right, come on princess” I said and got up from the table, I took her hand and we walked out the restaurant. “Where are you taking me, babe?” She asked as we walked down the street “You’ll see” I said and pulled out a blindfold, “Wha-What’s that for?” She asked, it was as if she was scared of the blind fold, my smile wavered a little before turning her round and going to put the blind fold on. “NO!” She screamed and jumped away, I just stared at her “Wha-What?” I asked, staring at her. “Don’t come near me with that blindfold!” She almost screamed at me, I held up my hands before putting the blindfold back in my pocket. “Okay, okay” I said, she relaxed and took my hand.
“Surprise!” Everyone shouted as we walked into the guest house “Oh my god” Kaitlin said and put her hands over her mouth, laughing. After a few hours at the party, people started to leave, Kaitlin was talking with Jasmine while I stood with Kacey. “Kaitlin? Someone’s here to see you” Maggie suddenly came into the living room; Kaitlin looked at me before walking out and into the hall. After a couple of minutes, I walked out and into the hall as well, I froze when I saw the guy from earlier at the door literally trying to drag Kaitlin away. “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE?!” I screamed at him before running at him again, I tackled him to the floor once again and started to punch him. “Barry!” Kaitlin shouted and turned around; I saw her crying and got up off of him. “Just go” I spat at him and took Kaitlin’s hand, we started to head back to the living room but we stopped when we heard the click. Turning around, I pulled Kaitlin behind me as Kyle pointed the gun at my head.
I'm really sorry that this took so long to update, I've been so busy lately and couldn't get the chance to write the chapter, hope this makes up for it(:
