Diego

when i am aware that my daughter is asleep, i gently shut the doors, and make my way down the hallway.

i need answers now, and i just want to uncover the truth, the whole mess makes my head throb.

the main reason why I even suggested going over to my parents place for a whole damn week, is because of my daughter.

I've came across portraits of my daughter, as a baby.

even her name is embedded onto the photograph, i couldn't help but feel.. my blood boil.

'Sofia Roselyn Lawson'

it had everything, her birth certificate, to her baby blanket.

everything I knew up to now, didn't seem to make sense.

i saw my mother sitting on the couch, up straight, under the dimly lit living room.

"so.. you found them, huh." my pathetic stepmother begins to say, as it was apparent I had the files, along with the photograph.

i didn't respond, but merely just mhm in response.

"it really isn't .. like what you think, that is going through your mind." she starts to explain,

"no, you're right. so tell me.." I trail off, and my eyes began to illuminate with fiery, dark aura surrounding me.

"why the fuck do you have this in your possession." i say seething in fiery, as i hold the photograph in front of her face.

i could see my stepmother gulping, and i knew that, there was no turning back.

i am after all bloodthirsty for savagery, it was in my nature to seek vengeance, people may call me the devil's spawn, but I consider myself the devil.. especially when one has touch something of mine.

"her mother, she made a deal with us." she musters the voice to speak, "what sort of deal." i utter low enough to an audible whisper,

i become a menace when it comes to my daughter.

"first. will you please relax." she continues, i knew that she hated the atmosphere, everything was dark and malicious to her.

but I didn't care.

"she had nothing, son."

"you don't have the right to say that." I say bluntly.

"she wanted money. so, of course i sent her some. what she did with it, is all up to her."

"and.. how does this relate to a deal you made with her?" i question with authority.

"you see, i wanted to be part of that child's life too, but only sending money is what she allowed, so the best thing she gave us is photographs, and certificate." my stepmother finishes as she takes a breath.

i stumble back a bit, none of these excuses make up for, why my daughter endured hell.

"then. that baby, was that sofia? was I holding sofia." i question, and I became weak just thinking about my daughter, the aura I held vanished within seconds, just with the thought of, perhaps everything she went through is my fault.

my voice began to feel weak, but i knew it was a trick of my stepmother.

"..yes, it was. i didn't have the courage to tell you, the babe was yours." she proceeds to say, and by now we were both facing each other, sitting across.

i heard little footsteps coming down the hallway, and i knew it was my daughter.

"we're not done." i say, and i stand up, as sofia emerges from the hallway, rubbing the sleep away.

"daddy, grandma?" i hear her say in her sleepy voice,

"mhm, yes baby?" i respond, making my way towards her, as she clings onto my shirt.

"why are you guys up?" she sleepily asks,

"Better question would be, you little missy why are you up? mhm?" i murmured as i caress her cheek

"me? but I asked first?" she goes off saying, still not fully awake, she gives a cute yawn as she leans into me more.

"ah, you're sleepwalking & talking." i noticed how she wasn't that responsive, so I maneuvered her, careful not to wake her up.

even though she was awake for a few seconds, she fell back to sleep, and ended up sleep talking.

my bedroom was the closest room to lead her to, i didn't want her to wake up, in this state.

i pulled the covers over her, and kissed her another goodnight.

as I pull away from her forehead, i gaze down at her, she sleeps so soundly, without a care in the world.

but often times, she'd have night terror, and her face would display discontent.

"I'm sorry, everything that ever happened to you, is my fault." i softly say, before getting up from the bed.

Sofia

my body hurts everywhere, lower abdomen pains, along with a sore back, i open my eyes, i find myself in dad's room, only because he's obsessed with the World Cup, and the tv was on silent but the captions were on.

i stretched myself, and went off to find the bathroom, oh , My period.

i quickly went to the bed to check if I leaked or anything, and thankfully I didn't.

i love the  secure pads, night time ones are so uncomfortable but at least I can sleep without worrying.

the aroma of scrambled eggs and bacon filled my nostril as i make my way out the bedroom.

i quickly put on my slippers, and put on dad's fluffy robe.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty" dad says as he was the first one to notice me walking into the dining room,

"good morning angel," grandma says, and grandpa gives me a pat on the head, before situating himself to a chair.

"morning guys" i say, still tired,

"aww you look so cute" grandma gushes as she's looking at dad's robe hanging off of me,

"My little penguin" dad interjects before giving me the morning hug and kisses.

so breakfast went off without a hitch, and i went to get ready for the day, we were going to a broadway show.

i get dress; wearing a casual top, along with black and white pleated skirt, wearing little booties'

we were going to go out for lunch, and then hit the broadway show.

since breakfast just finished, I decided to watch the new Netflix show of 'Wednesday'

i couldn't wait to see the broadway show of the lion king, it felt like time moving so dang slow.

"Okay, ready?" i hear daddy asking me, which I responded with a yes.

so we carpool, my grandparents had their chauffeur, so I sat next to daddy as grandma and grandpa sat next to each other.

we made it to Azalea, and the restaurant looks so gorgeous.

the entrance was giant, i felt like a ant standing next to it.

dad holds my hand as we enter the restaurant, they made a reservation for... 4 people. yeah.

even though school ended like a week ago I almost forgot how to do math.

i can feel the eyes of the other people on us, i pressed more into dad's side as we were following the hostess to our table.

maybe they're just admiring dad's beauty, but still it's so uncomfortable, especially with the amount of times I've been a witness'! to girls flinging themselves to my dad, or showing themselves off, when I WAS THERE TOO!! the audacity of those women.

like I get you find my dad attractive, but please have some decency, like I'm not against having a sibling... yes I am.

"the server will be with you guys, momentarily." The hostess says, as she pulls the chair out for us to sit, so as we took our seats, grandpa is already asking what kind of alcohol they offer.

"daddy i don't know what to order" i mumbled, as I aimlessly flip through the menu.

none of it look appealing to me, then again I am a very picky eater.

"how about this. you order something and if you don't like it, we'll take it home, and you can have the rest of my lunch" dad explains, which I nodded.

"okay, I'll try the linguine alle vonaole" i tell him,

"perfect. make sure to say that to the server" dad says, giving me a smirk.

i gave him pleading eyes, as if he's betrayed me.

i hated... ordering for myself, that is my worse fear, i cant order on my own.

"but dad, can't you order for me?" i ask in more of a whiny voice.

"it won't hurt you to order on your own" dad says calmly, but I just humph in annoyance, i turn to ask grandpa or grandma but the MOMENT i even turn to ask, he is quick to shut both of them down

"ah, sorry sweets, it looks like your dad doesn't want us to" grandpa apologizes, and I couldn't even blame them.

daddy is after all a very indifferent and screaming 'savagery'

"fair enough" so I ended up ordering.

i did fine, which I was happy about, and out the corner of my eyes I saw daddy looking proud of me.

however, whenever I am at the doctors, and they ask me questions solely for the purpose of understanding my pain, i always turn to dad.

i never answer the questions on my own, like, ever.

"okay, it'll be an hour" the server says, as he punches in all the order onto the tablet he was holding.

so we finish dinner, and I enjoy my meal, which is a big surprise.

i already knew dad would be making a mental note of that dish.

we arrive at the broadway show, and I was amazed with everything.

the theatre itself was incredible, we were able to get to the second level, and have a nice view, although I wanted upfront.

Diego

when the show is over, we assemble ourselves out, and we made it to the car.

my daughter is such an empathetic person, that she cried during the show.

i love that about her, she's everything that I once was.

i can only hope that it remains that way, even a spoiled  apple can contaminate the rest of the batch, and this isn't about apples.

we went out for dinner as well, since after the show my daughter insists we go shopping.

while she was busy browsing through the clothes at versace, her grandmother was with her, so I didn't think anything bad would happen.

i went to buy a one of a kind dress for my daughter, i don't have any reason to buy her dresses, i simply enjoy doting on her.

i wanted to surprise her with it, she was clearly eyeing the dress as we walked into the department store.

while the dress was getting processed, a woman approaches me, which I couldn't help but cock an eyebrow.

"uh, mr Lawson right?" the lady says, she seems timid.

"yes. who is asking?" i responded, bluntly.

"well, i know we are complete strangers, but I've heard much about you, and was wondering if we could exchange numbers" she says, more confidently.

"well-" before I was able to respond, my daughter gives me a side hug, from out of nowhere.

the woman suddenly stands back a bit, observing.

"daddy" sofia says, didn't even notice the lady I was speaking to.

i saw that the woman immediately had her eyes widened, and was surprised.

i couldn't help but smirk, as I had my daughter in my embrace.

"mhm yes?" i murmur, giving her a kiss to her temple.

"I'm hungry" she says,

"well, we don't have any snacks, but we'll have dinner after this" i say, but her face turns into a pout as she walks away from me.

god, i hate seeing her upset.

"right. here is my number." i say handing my personal business card.

"ah- sir. it's alright. i didn't know you had a daughter" the lady says and she politely declined the card, which I found interesting.

no woman has ever rejected my card.

and, that's when my infatuation with her began.

"your name?" i ask, before she leaves.

"evangeline" she says softly, "okay. well, I'd like your number." i say, trying my gaze that works on all the women.

well, most.

"i mean, you have a daughter! and I don't want to impose on anything" she says, apologetically.

"so that is a no?"

"yes. it's a no" she says,

"very well." i say, defeated. a no is a no, I'll respect that.

"have a good evening" i continue, which she smiles and leaves.

so after the dinner, my daughter is fast asleep.
