As you all waited for the tarts to cool down, Cater walked in as if he was just waiting for you all to finish all the hard work.
"You all look wrecked" Cater started with a little chuckle. He walked right in to stand right next to you. An arm was then slung over your shoulder as Carter leaned into you a little.
"Are the tarts done?" His smile never faltered as he asked, clearly directing the question to you.
With a nod you pointed over to Trey, who was now placing the tarts onto big plates ready for the fridge.
"Ohhh those look so cute!" The warmth from your shoulder dissipated when Cater walked away to see the tarts better.
In an instant he whipped his phone out and prepared to take a photo of them.
"Lemme get a quick pick for magicam!"
"Nice of you to finally show up Cater" Ace bluntly said through gritted teeth.
"Ahh, I just had to come and see how my little noob dorm mates are doing!" He chucked after taking a photo and tucking his phone away into his pocket again.
"Baking is tough work when you're not used to it but eating something sweet is just the cure!" Trey was placing 6 slices of tart on plates and a slightly smaller slice on the same plate as another slice.
"Help yourself to some of this tart" He held a close eyed smile as he handed the 2 slices over to Yuu and Grim.
At this, everyone in the room cheered and you allowed a small smile to grace your face. Thank god it isn't Lilia's cooking otherwise you would be running out of the dorm again or dead.
"Pretty funny of you to show up right when it was ready eat, Carter" Ace spoke with a hint of passive aggression while reaching over to grab a plate.
Carter chucked at his remark and grabbed a plate for himself.
"Someone's gotta be the official taste tester!" He grinned.
Yuu sat cross-legged on the floor with Grim sitting in his lap so that he could grab his tart. Unfortunately he doesn't have posable thumbs so he had to grab peices that Yuu handed him.
"That smells so good..." Looking over, Grim was foaming at the mouth with stars in his eyes.
"I can't wait another second! I'm going in!" Grim had exclaimed just after Yuu manged to break a peice of the smaller tart. His little paws instantly brought the food to his mouth. To put it short, Grim was in heaven.
"Oh dang..." Ace muffled out after a bite.
"Don't speak with your mouth full Ace" You lectured before taking a bite of your own tart. Ace glared at you but he still listened to you and kept his mouth shut.
"Yuuum!" Carter sounded almost strained to say. You looked over to Trey to see he noticed it too. Ever since you and Trey met Carter you both had a theory that Carter didn't like sweet things but you could never prove it...
"This is like something from a fancy bakery" Deuce soon stuffed his face with another bite with widened eyes.
"Mhm! Every time I eat anything Trey has made it has been a blessing" You said filled with happiness of being able to try Trey's food again. A light pink dusted his face and a nervous chuckle filled the room.
"Oh Trey! You gotta do the thing" Carter exclaims before even taking another bite.
"The thing..?" He tilted his in confusion.
"Ohh the thing" His eyes lit up in understanding and swiftly turned to Yuu, Grim, Ace and Deuce.
"What's everyone's favourite food?" He places his plate down on the counter and wiped his hands on the apron he was still wearing.
"Uhhh probably cherry pie. Ooo or burgers!"
"Canned tuna is at the top of my list! Ohhh or maybe omelets or roast meat or-" Grim then proceeded to mumble, what sounded to be, a long list of food. This is until Deuce managed to snap him out of his trance.
"I guess I'd say omelet rice..?" He spoke slightly above a mumble, his fingers resting on his chin.
"I like a nice lamb chop with diablo sauce" Carter smiled as he turned back to face Trey.
"All right.... Let's paint the roses!" Trey spoke as his hand made a swooping motion infront of all the tarts you were holding.
"Eh?" The dumb duo said in unison with tilted heads. Yuu stared down at his tart, perhaps he thought it got poisoned. You loved being able to see Trey's unique magic after such a long time of not being around enough to witness it.
"Take another bite and you'll see" A smirk formed upon his face as he gladly took another bite of his own piece.
You took a bite of your piece and to your shock it tasted of your favourite food, despite not saying anything to Trey.
'Did he remember my favourite food' To this thought you looked up at him to see a warm smile gracing your vision.
Before you could question Trey, Ace splutted out, "Huh?! Now it tastes like cherry pie?!" Yet again with his mouth full. A glare from your part soon solved the problem and he wiped his mouth clean.
"It tastes like tuna! Oh now it tastes like omelet!" Soon after Grim scoffs the rest of his tart down, delight evident in his expression and voice.
"Nice trick right? That's gotta be a hit with his crushes" Carter chucked before finishing his last few bites.
"It's very impressive, is changing flavours your signature spell, Trey?" Deuce once again struck his natural detective pose as he questioned. You honestly have no idea who he learnt the pose from, all you remember is that he has done it ever since you met him, when you both were younger.
"Sort of, it's 'overwriting characteristics' so things like taste, smell or colours but it only lasts a while" He said with pride.
"Whoa! If I had magic like that, I could be eating canned tuna everyday!" Once again the furball's mouth watered.
'Ah back to thinking of food again' You sweatdropped while staring at him.
"That's way better than Riddle's stupid collar magic!" This comment alone made you choke on your own spit.
"Whoa now, his magic is a whole different league. His magic is a weapon, mine is just a fun toy in comparison" Trey said with widened eyes. Even Carter looked shocked.
"Oh speaking of Riddle... its too late to give him these now so lets call it a day and give it to him tomorrow" He picked up the remaining, uneaten tart and placed it in the fridge ready.
"And don't forget that tomorrow is the unbirthday party. Don't be late!" Trey spoke over his shoulder.
"Y/n! Are you coming to the unbirthday party too?" Carter came up from behind you and hugged you.
"I mean sure, as long as Malleus doesn't need me" You smiled.
"Who is Malleus..." You hear Yuu whisper to Grim. Perhaps it's better for them to find out on their own, rather than make opinions of him based on what others say.
"Yuu can I crash with you again? Doesn't sound like I'll be allowed in my own dorm again tonight" Ace rubbed his... neck?.... collar?.....in embarrassment.
"It isn't right to keep mooching off Yuu, Ace" Deuce attempted to sternly lecture Ace. Yet he was only met with Ace rolling his eyes.
"Yeah! If you wanna stay the night you gotta pay me ten cans of tuna!" Grim held his paw out to show he expected payment from Ace.
"What!? I guess in sleeping outside then" He crossed his arms, refusing to pay anything.
"Why not spend the night at Diasomnia, Ace? I'm sure Lilia wouldn't mind making you some breakfast in the morning" You tried your best to make it sound warm and welcoming but judging by his expression is wasn't working.
"That place is like a haunted mansion... no thanks" He shuddered.
'A bit dramatic..' You internally laughed. One day you'll get them to try Lilia's food.
"Why don't you keep an eye on him and go and stay at Yuu's dorm too, Deuce" Trey suggested.
"As vice-housewarden, I can issue you a sleepover pass"
"That's our Trey for you, always spoiling the newbies" Carter sighed
"Ooo maybe I'll come too! What do you say Yuu?" He attempted sound convincing for Yuu and possibly even Trey. Key word, attempted.
"No" Trey bluntly stated, not even giving it a second thought.
"Awww...." Carter's shoulders slumped dramatically.
"Ah sorry to drop them onto you Yuu, at least it's only one night" He seemed to be genuinely sorry or sympathetic, it was even more evident when he rubbed the back of his neck.
"It's no problem really" Yuu smiled sweetly.
'There goes Yuu always being kind and adaptable.... wait.' That's when it clicked in your brain.
"Wait you guys are having a sleep over without me?" A deep frown and sadness was displayed on your face. You may have been being a little dramatic.
Panic stuck Yuu instantly when he saw your face.
"Y/n you can join us too!" He rushed over to comfort you.
"Ehhgg... I think I have to guard Malleus tonight... perhaps next time" You sighed before checking the time on your phone.
You looked up to Ace who shifted his expression from slight concern back to neutral.
"Tommorow is the unbirthday party, I can't wait to get rid of this stupid collar!" He exclaimed.

Trey and Carter said goodbye to you after forcing Ace and Deuce to clean up all the mess. Grim managed to escape with Yuu before you left.
A final wave and hug was exchanged before you made your way back to the gate to accompany Malleus during his evening.
