This is going to be a mini series <3 There will be an author's note at the end of this for those that don't follow me and/or haven't seen my updates on my profile <3
we're gonna do this one in first person <3
the reader uses she/they pronouns and isa uses they/them pronouns only
Autumn. The time of year most people looked forward to. Chilly weather that didn't require thick coats, leaves changing color and falling to cover the ground, and finally, Halloween. The moment Isa had given the warning that windows, and doors to the outside, were to be locked properly, excitement coursed through me. After working at the castle for a few years, I knew what that meant — and I knew what it meant for this year specifically.
Isa had came to me with a plan last month to get the triplets to leave the maids alone. Even without knowing the plan, I agreed. Finding out what the plan actually was, I called them suicidal but agreed nonetheless. What could possibly go wrong? Giving three, already hyperactive vampires a shit load of candy? Definitely didn't spell a recipe for disaster.
The Duke had let us know last week that he would have the supply Isa asked for — which is what they were currently getting. Which tasked me with finding and keeping the ladies distracted. That proved to be a very difficult task. The moment the girls heard that their mother was giving Bela a break, they took off down the halls and left me to sigh while trying to find out where they decided to run off to. By the time I caught up to them, they had a maid trapped in the corner.
'Poor girl,' I internally sighed before clearing my throat. "My ladies?"
Bela's head snapped in my direction, causing my heart to stop momentarily. "Well, there's half of who we're looking for."
'Well, that's not a good sign.'
Her sisters turned to look at me, with wide grins on their faces. "Run."
'...Fuck.'
I took off down the halls, praying to Hades that his child hurried up. A yelp left me when I collided with the ground, the weight on top of me shaking as a laugh left Cassandra. 'Of course, she was the one to catch me. Sometimes being one of the favorites sucks.'
The weight was soon removed — Cassandra's laughter still filled the halls as her sisters helped me sit up. Once she calmed down, Cassandra sat up with the occasional giggle leaving her. I let out a soft sigh and tried to force back a smile, the laughter of the triplets was always contagious.
"So, where's shorty?"
"You promised to stop calling me that, Bela," Isa sighed as they made their way over to us, their eyes shining with mischief when they glanced at me.
'They took forever on purpose—' I internally scowled before standing up. "Took you long enough."
"Ah, that's because I needed to deliver something to lady Dimitrescu. Something for you, actually."
"Why not give it to me now?"
"You'll see." Their smile, although innocent looking, sent a shiver down my spine.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled, following Isa to their room with the ladies. Once inside, we took our seats on their bed and my eyes widened slightly at the amount of candy they had. My head tilted at the bottle of apple juice that they quickly hid, watching as motioned to the candy as a way to distract from what they just hid.
'Odd,' I thought to myself before watching the girls immediately start grabbing pieces of candy. Daniela put some in my lap, sending me a sheepish smile when I raised an eyebrow at her. A soft snort was heard from Isa, causing my head to snap toward them. 'That's a new sound from them.'
"Ignore me," They giggled out, clearing their throat soon after to regain their composure. "I just, remembered something funny."
"Right," I whispered, making sure to drag out the 'i' so they knew they were full of bullshit. "What was with that apple juice?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"We all saw it," Bela jumped in, a teasing smirk on her face.
"Mhm," Cassandra confirmed, a low purring coming from her. "It's under your pillow."
"I-!" Isa's voice jumped an octave, their cheeks turning a faint shade of pink.
"Why'd you hide it though?" Daniela inquired, leaning against me. '...Does she? No, no, she's always this needy for physical contact. Don't overthink this.'
"...Let's not ruin the fun atmosphere. Ask me again another day."
'That's all I need to know about the situation,' I nodded along before we all went back to eating candy.
It didn't take terribly long for the candy to be completely gone. That also meant the girls were more hyper than normal — and why I was currently hiding in a hole in the wall. Giggling reached my ears and I sucked in a quiet breath, waiting for Cassandra to step into a spot where I could see her.
Daniela joined her soon after — based on the giggles — and my heart skipped a beat. I internally cursed when they stopped giggling, their heels faintly clicking on the floor. They stopped not too far from my spot and I watched Cassandra lean over to whisper to her sister, causing her to nod and walk closer to my spot. I squealed when she swarmed me out of my hiding spot, our laughs filling the air before heels clicking on the floor reached our ears.
Lady Dimitrescu stopped not too far from us, a smile on her face as her two youngest swarmed me over to her. We followed her to the main lounge, allowing me to see that Bela had managed to find Isa and they were currently eating snacks. Cassandra and Daniela guided me down to them, forcing me to sit between Bela and Daniela — once she sat down.
"How much candy did you two give them?" Lady Dimitrescu chuckled, noticing how restless the flies of her daughters were.
"Uh... A lot?" Isa chuckled, squealing when Bela move them to her lap. "Hey-!"
"Aren't you very powerful?" I laughed at Isa, ignoring their glare. "Why do you let her do that? Do you—?"
"Shut up," Isa hissed, the blush from before returning to their cheeks. "You—."
"Shut up!"
"That's what I thought," Isa huffed, crossing their arms over their chest.
We all burst into laughter — knowing Isa and I very obliviously had crushes on the triplets. Lady Dimitrescu left with an "I'll be back" — gaining the attention of everyone yet again. When she headed into the kitchen, the girls began purring loudly, bringing a smile to my face.
There was only one thing that made the girls this excited when the weather started getting colder; their mother's hot chocolate. I leaned against Daniela when she wrapped an arm around my waist, a content smile on my face. Cassandra grabbed a book and handed it to her younger sister, muttering for her to read it — wanting something to do.
"We can always go back to playing games until your mother returns," I suggested, glancing over at Isa. "Do you have any board games?"
"...Uh, I can check. If Bela lets me go."
"Fine," Bela sighed, annoyed that the warmth of Isa was no longer in her lap. "Now I'm missing warmth."
"I'll try to be quick," Isa laughed before walking off.
It didn't take long for Isa to return with a game of Monopoly and for us to get set up. A few moments later, lady Dimitrescu returned to us and set cups of hot chocolate in front of her daughters. When she set cups in front of Isa and me, I thanked her and took a sip, relaxing almost immediately.
As the game of monopoly progressed and we finished the hot cocoa, the girls seemed to settle down from their sugar rush. Their flies had settled and Cassandra even seemed to be struggling to keep her eyes open. Daniela's head rested on my shoulder a moment later, a soft whine leaving her as she rubbed her left eye.
"Looks like it's time for the crash," Lady Dimitrescu chuckled. "Go to my room, you five. I have a meeting with mother Miranda and the other lords, so you five can nap in my bed."
"Love you, mother," The triplets slurred, watching their mother stand from her spot.
"I love you too, dears."
After giving her daughters kisses on their heads, lady Dimitrescu left the room, ordering a maid to clean up after us. The triplets swarmed us to their mother's bed soon after, setting Isa and me in the middle of the bed. Once the door was shut, the triplets caged us — Bela and Cassandra on the outside with Daniela between Isa and me.
It didn't take long for them to fall asleep. Bela nuzzled into my back as Daniela buried her face in my neck, her hands keeping Isa's arms around her waist. Cassandra purred against Isa's back until she fell into a deeper sleep, bringing a smile to my face. Isa locked eyes with me and for the first time today, I noticed how tired they were.
"So, what's the plan for tomorrow?" They yawned, their eyes drooping after they finished talking.
"I'm going to paint them something," I hummed, watching them rest their head on Daniela's shoulder. "So, an apple juice addiction?"
"Shut the fuck up, you bully."

first, i want to say that an overwhelming amount of you chose this as the cover for the upcoming Cassandra book
now for the life update; last week, things at my job got really bad and stressful. then, i had a box of frozen bread fall on my head because one of my coworkers wasn't paying attention so i had to take a break from writing for that. i'm currently looking for a new job because of everything that's happened last week and this week.
i will also say, there's a very large chance that i will be leaving my family at the end of this month and going no contact with them. i know i've said in the past that it will happen sometime next year, but my friends family is willing to help me with a few things and his dad has even (unofficially) adopted me. we just have to wait until his brother moves out. when this happens, i will post author's notes to my stories to let everyone know i'll be taking a break (the break will be the rest of that week that i leave) and when i plan to return to updating. (i'm only saying that week/the rest of that week because i'll want to post what i've worked on to help distract from the feelings i'll be going through during that time and seeing everyone's comments/love for my writing will help <3)
on to happier news; this is a mini series because the girls deserve to have fun/play in the castle with their crushes <3
