Jay and Hailey had noticed their daughter Ainslyn had been acting differently for the past 3 weeks. She had just started her sophomore year of high school so they thought it was just that. They decided to talk to her at dinner that night just to be sure.
"Hey sweetie are you ok you've been off lately," Hailey asked Ainslyn
"Yeah schools just been stressful" Ainslyn replied
"I'm sorry sweetie just remember you can talk to us about everything nothing you can tell us will make us mad," Jay told Ainslyn
"Thanks, guys" Ainslyn replied
Ainslyn finished her dinner and went to her room. When she got into her room she grabbed her laptop and began to do some research. She had known that she was asexual for 2 months at this point. She felt like she was more than asexual so she began to do some research. Upon doing research she came to realize she was aromantic asexual. She wanted to tell someone but was scared to tell her parents so she texted her friend Brianna who was a lesbian.

She researched how to come out to your parents. She also watched videos of people coming out to her parents. For the next 2 weeks, she planned how she was going to come out to her parents. Ainslyns anxiety got worse during this time and Jay and Hailey noticed.
Hailey walked into the kitchen and noticed Ainslyn sitting at the table bouncing her leg seemingly zoned out. Hailey put her hand on her shoulder and she jumped.
"Sorry sweetie are you ok I'm sorry I scared you," Hailey asked
"Yeah sorry just tired" Ainslyn replied
"Rember to take care o yourself, sweetie," Hailey told her
2 weeks later Ainslyn decided to come out to her parents. She texted Brianna and told her that she was coming out to her parents
A Hey I'm coming out to my parents today
B Congratulations do you want me to be there when you tell them?
A No thank you id rather have this conversation alone
B ok let me know if you change your mind
A Ok thank you
Ainslyns anxiety was through the roof all day. She was jumpy and Shaky and Jay and Hailey noticed
"Hey are you, ok sweetie," Jay asked
"Yeah just tired" Ainslyn replied
After dinner, she decided to tell her parents
"Can I talk to you guys about something?" Ainsyn asked them shakily
"Yeah sweetie is everything ok," Hailey asked
"Yeah it's nothing bad" Ainslyn replied shakily
"What going on sweetie," Jay asked
Right as Ainslyn was about to start talking she began to cry and hyperventilate
"Hey ssh just breathe ok you can tell us anything we promise we won't get mad at you," Hailey told her
"I-i do-don-don't kn-know-why -i -im s-so -sca-scar-scared to -te-tell you -gu-guys," Ainslyn said shakily
"It's ok you can tell us anything," Hailey told her
"Ok i-" Ainslyn began to cry and hyperventilate again
"Ssh ssh just breathe here how about this ill count to 3 and you just say it I promise we are not going to get mad," Hailey told her
"Ok" Ainslyn replied shakily
"Ok sweetie here we go 1,2,3," Hailey told her
"I'm aromantic asexual" Ainslyn replied
"Oh, sweetie cmere," Hailey said pulling her into a hug. As soon Hailey pulled her daughter into a hug she began to sob
"Ssh ssh you're ok just breathe for me sweetie ssh we're not mad at all" Hailey soothed
"Squeeze my hand," Jay told her
They sat there for 10 minutes before Ainslyn pulled away
"Ainslyn we completely support you no matter what we love you so much but can you explain what being aromantic asexual means," Jay asked
"It means I don't feel romantic or sexual attraction to anyone regardless of gender" Ainslyn replied
"That's totally ok I'm so proud of you cmere," Hailey told her pulling her into a hug
"I'm actually glad that I don't have to worry about you dating," Jay told her
"Thanks" Ainslyn replied
"We're so proud of you sweetie and we love you so much. We will always love you no matter what" They both told her
"Thanks, guys" Ainsyln replied
Ainslyn went into her room and Hailey and Jay went into the office. They wanted to do more research so they could better understand Ainslyn. Ainslyn texted Brianna
A Hey I just came out and my parents fully support me
B Good I'm glad I knew they would I'm so proud of you

Ainslyn was exhausted and fell asleep. Jay and Hailey gently knocked on the door but got no answer. They opened the door and saw her peacefully sleeping. They both kissed her and turned off her lights. They did a bit more research and went to bed. The next morning when they woke up Ainslyn was already in the kitchen.
"Hey sweetie how'd you sleep," Hailey asked
"Good" Ainslyn replied
"We love you so much sweetie and we're so proud of you," Hailey told her
"Thanks, I love you guys too" Ainslyn replied
A couple of hours later Ainslyn got a message that her package was delivered
"Hey mom I'm gonna go get the mail ill to be right back," Ainslyn told her
"Ok" Hailey replied
Ainslyn went and got her package and walked back to her apartment.
"Hey what did you get," Jay asked
"A phone case this is the aromantic asexual flag," Ainslyn said showing them the phone case
"Cmere sweetie" Jay said pulling her into a hug
A couple of weeks later Ainslyn got another package.
"Hey sweetie you got a package," Hailey told her
"Ok thank you" Ainslyn replied
"What is it," Hailey asked
"I'm not sure yet I ordered a couple of things," Ainslyn told her opening the package
"Oh, it's my flag can I hang it above my bed?" Ainslyn asked
"Sure sweetie ill be right back" Hailey replied
She went and got Jay
"Hey can you come into Ainslyns room and help us hang something," Hailey asked
"Sure what do we need to hang it," Jay asked
"Just push pins" Hailey replied grabbing the pushpins
They went into Ainslyns room and hung her flag above her bed.
Ainslyn was super happy that her parents fully supported her. Her anxiety calmed down the night her flag was hung up
A/N to anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community don't come out if it's not safe. Even if you think it's safe always have a backup plan. Have one or 2 safe places to stay and money saved up in case you get kicked out. Do it during the day so if you do get kicked out you are not alone outside at night. If anyone needs to talk my messages are always open. Also sorry if this one doesn't make sense I accidentally watched a Tiktok that made me dissociate and I've been in a dissociative state for hours and can't really think straight but wanted to get this done. I am starting to come out of it though stay safe on social media. It was an EMDR audio thing that can cause you to dissociate and I didn't know what it was nor did I expect anything like that to be on Tiktok.
