I remember the days when the roses were red.
And the violets were blue.
And the sugar was extra sweet.
And so were the "I love you's".
The days were extra sunny and warm.
You were warm.
You were fun, adorable in your ridiculousness...
You made my heart flutter.
I was happy.
We were happy.
And then the roses weren't red anymore.
The violets no longer blue.
The sugar was insipid and bitter.
The "I love you's" were hallow.
Nonexistent.
Meaningless.
The days were as long and cold as the tears on my pillow at night.
You're uncaring and I'm empty.
My heart now dead.
We are now shells of our former selves..
Filled with regret of what could have been.
What....should have been.
Now we are just reminiscent.
