the breaking point

amelia sat on a couch, running her hand through her hair. she was stressing so much.

sadie saw her girlfriend sitting on the couch. she came up to her, kissing her head. she kneeled in front of her, leaning her nose against amelia's hand that was curled in a fist.

"i'm leaving. to louisiana. and i can't do long distance. i'm sorry."

now this caught sadie by surprise.

"that's it?" she then asked.

"i don't know how else to say it."

"just fucking talk to me! fucking look at me! is that it? we can't talk through this?"

"no. we can't," amelia said, refusing to make eye contact with the girl in front of her who was getting angry.

"just fucking talk to me, okay! is this more than going to louisiana?"

"maybe," she admitted.

"look at me," sadie demanded as she stood up. "just fucking look at me! fucking look at me!"

"i can't okay? this is it. we're over. we're done."

sadie stopped shouting at amelia's words. she pinched the bridge of her nose, lifting her arms up behind her head.

it was truly over.

and sadie couldn't do anything else.
