your p.o.v
After Jake and I's fight a few days ago, I kind of moved on from it. There was a mark on my cheek, but I would cover it up everyday so that the kids won't see it. Jake also didn't know about the mark, but I would just play it cool every time Jake would bring it up.
It hurts for me to lie to them and especially to Jake but I had to for two reasons
1: I didn't want the children to be afraid of their father
2: I didn't want them to think I'm with someone who is abusing me or them
So one night, I was busy making dinner while Jake and the kids were out to Jake's mom for a visit. I decided that I wasn't going to cover up the mark, because I thought that they were going to be out for a long while. But I obviously thought wrong.
I was listening to some music while I was maing dinner. I didn't hear Jake, Edward and Amber come in. That is until Edward ran in the kitchen.
Edward: mommy!!!!
Me: hey love, where's your father and sister
Edward: mommy what happened to your cheek
I looked at him shocked. Shit I thought. I didn't know if I should tell the truth, lie or just change the subject.
Me: where's your sister
Edward: she's with daddy
Me: ok then
Soon Jake and Amber came in the kitchen
Amber: mommy!!!
Me:hey you. How was grandma
Amber: it was fun, grandma gave us candy
Amber looked at me and asked me
Amber: mommy what happened to your cheek
Obviously Jake heard this and looked me.
Me: mommy got in a fight today
Edward: are you okay mommy
Me: of course I am. Go wash up dinner is almost ready.
They went off and Jake stood nearer to me.
Jake: you didn't get in a fight did you?? That was the mark I left when I slapped you.
I didn't know how to answer him, all I could do was nod my head
Jake: why didn't you tell me
Me: because I knew you were gonna freak out. And besides I didn't want the kids to find out you did this, I didn't want them to live in fear and be afraid of you because you might hurt them
Jake: well that makes sense, but babe, next time tell me
Me: ok
Jake hugged and kissed me.
Me: so how are going to explain the fight to them.
Jake: don't worry, I got this
Jake explained the whole 'fight' to the kids because they were both eager to know. Everything was alright and back to normal again.
