Isaac's POV

"Missing?"

"Yes, Isaac. Missing."

"Like she was," my mom paused. "Snatched from her bedroom..."

My mom and dad looked at each other.

"You don't think..." My mom sobbed.

"First Amanda, now Violet." My dad said through gritted teeth.

"You're saying that Hayes Grier might've kidnapped your daughter?" The detective asked. "Do you have any evidence?"

"No, we do not have any evidence." My dad said.

"But Amanda knew Violet, am I correct?" The detective asked.

"Mr. Timothy, what are you trying to say?" My mom asked.

"I'm saying that it was like a hit-list. First her friend Amanda, then Violet. Hayes Grier must've had a motive. Please report to this officer what your daughter looks like." The detective, Mr. Timothy asked.

I heard enough, storming out of the room and ran to my own. I slammed the door shut, jumping to lay down on my bed.

I can't believe Violet. I can't believe she'd leave me here, like this. Was she even kidnapped? Or did she just run away?

I stared at the ceiling for a while, before I turned my attention towards my nightstand. I grabbed my phone, and something fell as I did it.

"What the..." I said, as I leaned over to pick it up. It was a note, with my name labeled on it.

I opened it, and I read it out loud.

"Dear Isaac, please don't worry about me. I'm fine. Also, I've went to look for answers. I love you, bro. I'll find out what happened to Amanda and Kate. We'll finally get justice. Love, Violet." I cried, setting the letter down.

My sister never makes me cry, no matter what. But now that she left? Left because of him made me sick to my stomach.

She went to look for answers. Now I had to look for my own.

Violet's POV
flashback

"It's one of those nights, isn't it?" Amanda said. "Where the sky is so calm that the stars are shining brighter than normal."

"Yeah." I smiled.

"I've always wanted to travel to space." She said. "I think it'd be cool."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah. No one knows a lot about it, I want to discover it. What about you?" She asked me.

"I've always wanted to see the northern lights." I sighed. "Like, that's the top thing on my bucket list."

"Top thing on your bucket list, eh? I wish I'd go with you when that happens." She said.

"Trust me, I won't go without you." I said.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"Okay, well my top thing on my bucket list is to die-"

"Wait, then what's the whole point of the bucket list?" I said.

"That's exactly it. Doing everything before you die. That's how I want to think about it. I want to see if heaven's real or if hell's real or if anything's real." She said, and I nodded in response.

flashback over

I wonder if she ever made it. Heaven, Hell, or whatever's in between.

Hayes was leading me through the woods. Snow was still fresh on the ground, even though it's almost April.

We stopped when we reached a house, but it wasn't exactly a house. The house had a huge wall with different glass windows on it.

"So, uh, the owners of the house died while they went on a trip to Florida ten years ago. Since then the house has been vacant." He said.

"The part I like most about it is the glass wall. It's great because the people outside can barely see me, but I can see them." Hayes explained.

We walked inside of the house. We first entered the makeshift living room, it only contained a couch, a small TV, and a coffee table. On the other side was the kitchen, with it's usual appliances.

There was a hallway splitting the two rooms, and Hayes noticed me looking.

"Oh, that hallway has the bathroom and the bedroom. The bedroom was mine but I could let you sleep in it." He said.

"Wow, how nice of you." I said harshly, even though it was kind of nice.

The problem was that I wanted to hate him. I felt the need to hate him, but in fact, he was being so nice to me.

"Uh, okay. Then I guess I'll sleep in the room?" He said, and I nodded. I didn't want him to do that for me.

I put my stuff down on the ground next to the couch, and got comfortable. I grabbed the remote and went through the channels.

There were only a few channels. The usual news, sports, and entertainment ones.

"I only get cable." He explained, as he left the room.

"How did you even know about this place?" I asked.

"Well, it was my grandparents house, but they...you know..." He said.

"Wouldn't have you been caught already?" I asked.

"I moved in, so to speak, after they searched the house." He answered, and he came back to the living room, plopping down on the couch.

I decided on watching sports, since he was all over the news. I doubt he wanted to hear about what others were saying about him.

I also noticed in the house that there weren't any lights. No ceiling lights, no lamps- heck, there weren't even flashlights.

"So, why don't you have lights in your house?" I asked.

"I use candles at night. Usually in the day time, there's this thing called the sun, that not only gives you heat but gives you light-"

"Yeah, smart ass, I know what the sun is." I laughed, and he stared at me.

"What?" I said.

"Nothing." He dismissed it by smiling. "Anyways, I don't need to use the candles during the day, so at night I just light them up. Also, I don't need to pay any bills." He said.

We sat and watched golf-which was an extremely boring sport, I might add- until he coughed awkwardly.

"So, uh...I need you to go out to the groceries, get as many as you can before we leave." He said, handing me a wad of cash.

"How'd you..." I said, estimating all the money he just gave me.

There must've been at least five hundred dollars in here.

"What can I say? I'm a saver, not a spender." He said, as he led me outside again.

"You can use that bike. I know it only has one basket but you can use the little rail on the back to put groceries in." He continued, pointing at the rail.

I shoved the money in my pocket and went off to the groceries, and locked my bike at the bike rail.

I grabbed a grocery cart and went through the isles like crazy. Making sure I buy food, drinks, toiletries, and any girly essentials because who knows when I have to shop again.

The cashier was scanning my items when he stared at me. He was staring for a long time, which freaked me out, but he went on scanning the items.

"Do I know you?" He asked. I looked at his name tag, which I couldn't even pronounce the name on it.

"No, I don't think so." I said.

"Well you look really familiar." He said, as he told me the final price. I had enough money for it.

"I'll see you again, maybe." He continued, as I grabbed my bags and left the store.

I had a huge amount of bags in the cart, which barley fit inside, let alone fit on the bike. Then I got an idea.

I hooked the grocery cart on the bike, and rode off. I didn't care how many weird looks I got as I passed people walking down the street, but that didn't matter.

Surprisingly, I remembered the way back to Hayes's house. I unhooked the grocery cart from the bike and wheeled it inside.

"Hey, I-" I said, before I was interrupted by the TV, and Hayes's facial expression.

"Breaking news-fifteen year old Violet Scott was taken from her home on Friday, November twenty-eighth. We have reason to believe that Hayes Grier was responsible for her kidnapping. It is said that he has an orange dirt bike..." It said, before Hayes shut it off.
