A curse is a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. The curse bestowed upon your mother affected your life immensely. Demigods would mistake you for a monster — although technically you were half monster, you didn't want to kill them like all the others did. When you happened to stumble upon a village that seemed to be stuck in the past, you decided to stay since the gods and their children didn't seem to be fond of the village — meaning you were safe.
For a time, that is. The leader of the village found you after two months of you being on your own. She offered you a job at a castle, the same castle that everyone knew no one came back from, but you accepted anyway. It was a huge mistake. Once you realized that the matriarch was hot and insanely tall, you nearly collapsed under her gaze. After finding out she was a mother and meeting her daughters, you were willing to die on the spot.
But once you found out the daughters were flies, you knew you couldn't tell them what you were or ever let them enter your room. You didn't want to freak them out — knowing if they found out what you were, they would avoid you. Lady Dimitrescu knew what you were and she had agreed to not tell her daughters after seeing how happy you all were. Sadly, all good things must come to an end.
You were walking through the halls when you noticed your bedroom door was cracked open. Your heart started pounding as you picked up your pace and pushed open your door. A low hiss left you when you noticed a maid in your room, her head whipping around and the letters from your mother in her hands. You glanced at the spider that started making its way to her, internally smirking at the red hourglass on its underside. The maid shook as she stared at you, but before you could threaten her, a terrified scream cut through the silence. You knew it wasn't her or any of the other maids, so it could only mean it was one of the ladies — which made your heart nearly stop.
"I'll deal with you later," You hissed out before rushing towards the library, knowing that Daniela would be the only one that was stationary currently.
Once you entered the library, Daniela swarmed behind you and shoved you towards one of the chairs. "Kill it!"
"She won't kill me! I'm her sister, dummy!"
"Shut your mouth," You hissed under your breath at the tarantula. "I'll deal with her— it, my lady."
Daniela sent you a wary glance before swarming out of the library, allowing you to let your sister crawl onto your hand. You ignored her hisses of protest as you carried her to a window, making sure none of the ladies were around before opening it and letting her crawl off of your hand. She sent a hiss your way and you simply rolled your eyes before shutting the window, heading back to the library before calling out for Daniela. Once she returned, you informed her that you got rid of the tarantula but she refused to come near you — to look at you.
"Is everything okay, my lady?" You asked softly and took a step towards her, your heart breaking slightly when she immediately took a step back.
"Why are there spiders in your room? And letters to and from Aracne?"
"...How do you know about all of that?"
"Answer my questions," Daniela growled and swung her sickle to show she was serious about this.
"Aracne is... my mother... All arachnids are my siblings."
"Is that why you called that tarantula a her when you were telling Dani you'll get rid of it." Cassandra's voice came from your left, her sickle coated in blood already.
"And is that why you've never let us near your room?" Bela's voice came from your right and you knew that the maid must have called out for them once you were far enough away.
"It is, my ladies... But please don't—."
"Does mother know?"
"She does. She agreed to not tell you three because—."
"So you both kept this from us..." The three sounded very disappointed — causing the ache in your chest to become more painful.
"My ladies, please just... Let me explain..."
The three sent you glares before swarming away and leaving you alone, causing you to slowly make your way to your room. Once there, you stared down at the dead maid for a while before making your way to your window. You opened the window and watched as the black widows in your room scurried out, knowing how upset you were. After the last one was out, you shut your window and moved over to the body of the maid.
You began dragging the lifeless body through the halls, not noticing the clicking of heels getting louder until the shadow of your lady was covering you. When she didn't say anything to you, you continued your walk to the basement and noticed that lady Dimitrescu was following you, only speaking once you had let the body fall to the ground.
"They found out?"
"They're disgusted." You muttered and glared at the lifeless body. "I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure she yelled for one of them."
"I'll talk to them," Lady Dimitrescu promised, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Dispose of her body as you please, we won't be using it for wine. [Y/N], they'll come around, I promise."
"You shouldn't make promises you can't keep."
You picked up the body and began dragging it again, leaving your lady behind the deeper you went into the basement. Once you were deep enough, you dropped the body again and watched as the moroaică began making their way towards you. Most focused on the body — having not been allowed to devour human flesh since the ladies needed it more — but a few swung their sickles at you. You effortlessly moved out of the way before beginning your trek back the way you came, walking passed Bela when she appeared in front of you.
Her gaze burned into your back until you were officially out of her sight, meaning you could release the sigh you had been keeping in. You grabbed some cleaning supplies before making your way to your room, getting started on cleaning up the mess the dead body left first. After your floor was clean, you began climbing the wall and cleaning out the spider webs until the sound of buzzing reached your ears. You glanced over your shoulder and when your gaze landed on the triplets, you climbed down from the wall and bowed to them.
"My ladies, how may I help you?" Your voice was void of emotion — not wanting them to hear how sad you were — and you noticed the slight shift of their bodies to signify their flinches.
"Mother spoke to us," Daniela started, her voice much softer than when she last spoke to you. "She told us why you didn't want to tell us."
"I think the way you three reacted was enough to understand why I didn't say anything."
"We're still your bosses." Cassandra hissed out, her gaze burning into you. "So watch how you speak to my little sister."
"My apologies, my lady."
"Cass..." Bela sighed before making her way over to you. "She's upset — we didn't even give her the chance to explain — she has a right to get snippy with us. Normally, I'd agree with Cass, but after seeing how lifeless you were in the basement, I realized mother was right... You'd never hurt us and the spiders that were in here even tried to hide from us when we came in."
"I told them to never let you three see them," You muttered and flinched away from Bela when she tried to place a hand on your shoulder. "If you three can't get passed this, I'll write to my mother and tell her that I'll be heading back to Greece."
"You're not leaving!" Daniela immediately covered her mouth after her outburst, turning her head so she wasn't looking at you. "...If you want to stay, then stay."
"I'm not staying if you three detest me now."
You were met with silence, which prompted you to climb the wall again and continue cleaning. The gazes of the ladies were on you the entire time, only making you self-conscious of your abilities. Once your room was clean, you climbed down and headed towards your closet, letting out a quiet squeak when Bela grabbed your arm. She turned you to face her before pinning you against the wall, causing your heart to skip a beat.
Her sisters shut the door before swarming to her side, the three shared a look before Daniela and Cassandra helped Bela trap you against the wall. "Looks like the flies have trapped the spider."
