After twelve years of the stab murders in Los Angeles sidney and Jake have gotten married as sidney wrote a book about how she changed from being a victim to a survivor as the couple last stop on sidney's book tour was woodsboro where Dewey and Gale live as they are also married and have a son named Owen who is out of town for a field trip as Jake and sidney pulled up to the woodsboro bookstore with sidney's publicist Rebecca Walters as sidney and Jake see the Ghostface masks on the telephone poles
Rebecca: what do you think
Sidney: well I guess today is the anniversary
Jake: kids
Rebecca: no I meant the display
Sidney: oh
Rebecca: it's good right I told the owner I'd kill his cat if he didn't get it right
Sidney: (chuckles) nice
Cut to later at the bookstore at the autograph signing as sidney was talking to everyone about the book as Jake stood next to her listening to his wife
Sidney: and I began to believe myself that that was all I and Jake were victims and that was unacceptable for both of us so I sat down and began to write a new role that would be our own a role married couple who could leave the walls of fear behind and step back into the sunlight out of darkness
(As the audience applauded and Jake walk up to sid and kissed her )
Sidney: thank you
Rebecca: OK we're gonna start the book signing in a sec so buy your copies while they last I'm looking at you ladies new York times best seller
(As sidney and Jake saw Gale looking at them as they walked up to her )
Sidney: Gale we're glad you came
Gale: congratulations guys I haven't had a chance to read it yet but
Jake: well we know where you can get one
(As sidney hugs Gale then Gale hugs Jake)
As Dewey and deputy hicks came in
Jake: Dewey! Hi
Sidney: Dewey! Hey
(As he hugs them both)
Dewey: hey guys Gale you made it
(As they heard police sirens outside)
Gale: what's going on Dewey
Dewey: sid Jake I'm sorry I gotta do something here I'm really sorry (telling everyone in the book store) excuse me! This will only take a minute I need you all to stay where you are and remain silent
Deputy hicks: nobody leaves yet the Sheriff thanks you
Rebecca: can this wait barney fife
I'm running an event here
Dewey: ma'am this is a police event now
Gale: (asking Dewey) what's going on
Deputy hicks: Gale this is police business if you could just let us handle this
Gale: I'm talking to my husband Deputy Judy
Dewey: (looking at Gale sidney and Jake) listen there's a phone we believe may have been taken from the scene of a crime Deputy hicks has traced its location back to these coordinates the rest is need to know
Gale: I'm not need to know
(As Dewey called the missing phone as it started ringing as one of the officers heard it from outside )
Officer hoss: Sheriff it's ringing out here!
(As everyone went outside as hoss pointed to the car parked as they got to the trunk of the car)
Officer hoss: it's coming from the trunk
There!
Sidney: Dewey
Deputy hicks: gonna need everyone to stay back!
Dewey: not now sid
Jake: it's a rental
(As Rebecca gives Dewey the keys and Dewey opens it as we see ripped up covers of sidney's book cover and her picture and the missing phone and a knife with it all covered in blood as everyone gasped in shock )
Dewey: damn! OK it's now an official crime scene! Let's lock it down get that camera out of here! Everyone back
Sidney: please tell us this a prank Dewey
Dewey: I'm afraid not guys
(As Dewey took sidney and Jake to the police station for questioning )
Cut to the police station as Dewey is questioning sidney and Jake as outside Gale is trying to get into the office to talk to Dewey but Deputy hicks won't let her as Dewey hears what's happening as he opens the door
Dewey: um deputy Gale please sidney Jake could please give us a minute
Gale: sid Jake
Sidney: hi Gale
Jake: Gale
(As sidney and Jake walk away)
Sidney: well I didn't picture this happening
Jake: yeah well at least you know some things never change God what a mess
Sidney: hey we'll get through it like we always do together
Jake: your right (As he sees Jill sidney's cousin and two other girls in the interrogation room) hey is that Jill
Sidney: oh God it is come on
(As sidney and Jake followed Dewey and deputy hicks into the room)
Sidney: hey Jill
Jill: sidney
(As they hug )
Jake: hi Jill
Jill: Jake hi
(As they also hug)
Jake: it's nice to see you even under the circumstances
Sidney: you okay
Jill: yeah
Jake: so two of you got phone calls
Jill: yeah us two (pointing to herself and Olivia) what's your favorite scary movie
Kirby: it was the killer's voice from stab or I mean you know from your life (pointing to sidney) I'm Kirby by the way I'm their friend
Deputy hicks: and the killer didn't call you
Kirby: no is that a bad thing does that mean that I'm not gonna live as these two (pointing at Jill and Olivia)
Dewey: no maybe
Jake: Dewey
Dewey: of course not just just be careful
Kirby: oh my God did you hear that I'm gonna be next! (Getting scared)
Sidney: Dewey we shouldn't be here
Jake: yeah maybe we should leave town
Deputy hicks: I'm afraid that's not really possible sidney Jake
Dewey: look nobody thinks either of you are involved but everyone's a suspect I'm sorry
Deputy hicks: and there was evidence in your car connecting the killer to you you both could be material witnesses
Dewey: so look you'll both have 24 hour police surveillance
Sidney: that's comforting
Cut to later at night as sidney and Jake were staying in sidney's aunt's house as sidney and Jake talking to Dewey in the living room
Sidney: how are you how's Gale
Jake: and how's Owen
Dewey: I'm all right Owen's out of town on a field trip which me and Gale are glad he's not in town with everything
Jake: yeah well he's father's Sheriff he
Knows he's parents will protect him
Dewey: yeah I guess but Gale it's been hard on her being a mom living in a small town with a small town husband not much to write about
Sidney: are you two okay
Dewey: well I read somewhere once just when you think things can't get any worse sometimes they don't sometimes they get better out of darkness by sidney Prescott page 220
(All three chuckles)
Dewey: what about you two
Sidney: oh yeah we're good
Jake: yeah it's nice using this book tour as a little vacation with just us
Sidney: yeah it is (As they kiss each other)
Dewey: good well I've gotta get going
(As he got up and headed towards the front door as sidney and Jake followed him out)
Sidney: it's nice to see you Dewey
Jake: we've been through a lot together
Dewey: and we'll get through this too OK lock up
Sidney: mmhm
(As Dewey walks out of the house as sidney and Jake waved bye as they shut the door and lock it)
