This is a backstory!
I may not be too good because we only got a bit of details of Alberto's backstory about his father leaving...
This is my opinion on "Bruno" Scorfano, and why he chose to leave his children... yes...I'll call him Bruno for a reason.
(No it's not our handsome Rat King) in my
Opinion, he has the same facial features and body like Alberto's, but a bit more muscular, However except for the hair and eyes which matches his mothers.

(Alberto's Pov)
I went to grab some blankets for me and my sister for the upstairs where the anchovies are out above us into the big blue!
We even get a good glimpse of the big glowing fish that's also out!
I head up to the balcony and saw my sister laying down, all cuddled up in a cute ball.
I placed the soft blanket over her so that she'll feel more comfy.
"Mmm...thanks brother..." she mumbled a bit...
I laid next to her, getting myself situated, while looking up at the anchovies.
"There's so many tasty anchovies." She said, letting out a soft yawn.
True...it's making me hungry...
"Yeah...I bet one day, we'll get to swim with one of them, we can eat as much as we want." I turned to look at her, hearing her giggle from the thought.
"That'll be so cool." Then she comes a little close to me, nuzzling on my chest for extra closer...It warms my heart to see her happy...it's all I wanna do for her...It's a big task for me until we die...
*sighs* why did you have to leave us here...?
When will you come back....?
~~ 7 Years Ago ~~
A few humans on boats began throwing harpoons at a certain creature they spotted underwater...
It's the middle of the night, capturing those red eyes trying to swim away from the sharp weapons...
"Gah!" Suddenly...he felt a sharp pain on his shoulder...feeling like passing out at any moment...blood spread around the waters...knowing the sharks would get the scent...meaning he has to get out of here before he gets eaten...
However...he couldn't hold onto himself...instead...he looked down at his two children who are looking up at him with curiosity...not sure what's going on with their surroundings...
"Daddy? Are you okay?" 7 year old Alberto asked, hugging his baby sister, looking a bit worried.
Bruno looked up to see the boats floating away...cheering would be heard from above, believing they killed him...
"D-daddy's okay son..." He answered while giving them a big hug.
"When will we go back home?" Little Y/n asked, having trouble with her speech impediment.
That's when Bruno froze...knowing what truly happened back at their old home...is the reason they left as soon as possible...
He tries to think up a lie to his adoring handlings. He kneeled to their height, taking a deep breath.
"You see kids...mommy and daddy thought we could move somewhere nicer...and a lot safer..."He explained, which Alberto tilts his head...
"Why? I like our home!" He stated but again, he had to lie...he didn't want the kids to know about their home being destroyed and...someone else...
"Shhh...trust me...I think you'll like our new home."
Bruno sat up and looked around the sight of the surface, seeing no boats anywhere...no shadows or lights coming from above. It's the best opportunity to search.
"Stay here with your sister...I'll be back..."
So he swam up to the surface to look around the area to see no humans anywhere in sight...
Until he spotted a mini island almost a mile away from them.
"Perfecto..." He said to himself...
Soon head back down to see Alberto nuzzling little Y/n while pinning little sea flowers in her hair.
"Looks like we have found our new home..." Bruno smiled softly and held his little hand.
"Stick by me." He placed Alberto around his shoulder and held Y/n in his arms, began to swam up to the little island which seems like a normal place to stay...for now.
He rose from the water, taking a few steps up to the shore...He held onto Alberto's leg up so he wouldn't slip off his back.
Taking a closer look at the place, it looked almost peaceful...a good place for a child to swim around...and a fresh new start for a new beginning...
He even heard Alberto jumped off his back and began to wobble in the sand.
"Is this our new home daddy?"
Bruno sighed softly and nodded "yes son...this shall be our new home."
He placed Y/n down and see her wobble with her feet, Alberto ran up to her and held her hand, so she wouldn't trip.
It makes Bruno smile to see how his son accomplished as a good brother. Seeing little Y/n growing up to look so beautiful like their mother. It sheds a tear...
Bruno spotted a latter on the tower, hoping no one isn't around here, but to make sure...So he climbed up...taking a look around...the place was completely abandoned...unused tables...ripped up curtains...broken glass surrounding the floor, even some vines giving the place a touch up.
"Hmm...this place needs a clean up..."
However when he turned to see his son and daughter climb up as well...but they both looked like different person...
almost human...
"FIGLIO!!" Bruno freaked out and checked to see if it really is his children...
"D-Daddy? You look funny." He giggled and that's when Bruno looked at his own hands...their skins slowly shift into a human form.
Same goes to Y/n, she was beautiful like a princess...so much like their mother...he tries not to think about her but instead...
But then he hissed from the pain on his shoulder...losing so much blood, running down his sea clothes...he went to grab a cloth from the table and wraps it around his body...hoping his kids wouldn't witness it...he cleared his throat and faked a smile.
"What do you say children, we clean the place up, while I go search for some late dinner."
"Okay daddy!" Alberto smiled brightly and Y/n cheered.
So Bruno went back to the water to get some food.
While Alberto and Y/n clean the mess up, straightening up the curtains, sweep the table and Y/n added a flower in a vase.
"Perfecto!" Y/n said out loud.
It's been almost a few weeks since they lived in the surface.
Alberto learned how to build fire and drawing on the walls as decorations.
Y/n likes to collect flowers and pin them everywhere in the home. She also helps out with getting logs for the fire.
However...on that day has changed everything for the kids...
On a nice sunny afternoon, the two siblings were picking up some berries for a fruit salad when their dad comes back with lunch!
Soon Bruno came back, not only with food, but also clothes?
"Hey kids, I got a little surprise for you all" He showed them some clothes for them to wear whenever humans pass by so they wouldn't find them suspicious.
"Alberto, here's your clothes."
He hands him a white plaid shirt with yellow and blue stripes, and short blue jeans.
"And for Y/n" he hands Y/n a cute dress with flower decorations which is perfect for her.
The two gave their pop a big hug where he on the other hand...didn't hug back...
"Now, you go try on the clothes while I cook the food."
The father heads up to the balcony to fry up the fish for the kids, while they change into their new human clothes.
However...something came to his head...
(Bruno's PoV)
I couldn't believe what I'm going through...our house is destroyed by humans...my wife was crushed to death by the heavy rocks of our home...
Almost stabbed in front of my kids...
This wasn't the life I wanted to have...now that I discovered I could be a human...
In my head...I thought of a new beginning!
For me only...
I was thinking of going to the human town and possibly discover a whole new world up in the surface!
But...looking back at my kids...Alberto is growing up a bit...almost like he became a man...
But Y/n...I can't even look at her anymore...it's like looking at her mother...same with Alberto...with those same green eyes...
I need a change...but how could I go now without them knowing...?
I'll tell them tonight...right now...I wanna spend my last hours with them...before I leave.
"Daddy! Look at us!" Alberto stood in front while Y/n twirled her dress...which I fine absolutely adorable...
"You look amazing, almost like a manly man." I picked up Alberto, giving him a big hug.
As soon lunch was ready.
I took a glimpse at them making each other laugh with the food...
Hmm...well...as long as they have each other...it'll be fine...
— Around midnight—
I was fixing up my human clothes, almost resemble as an actual human would look...
I took a deep breath that this is happening...
I head down the stairs to see Alberto tucking Y/n in bed on the hammock...such a sweet boy...
I walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder...
Looking into his eyes...made me want to get out of here...It hurts me to look...
"Alberto..." I froze...how could I make this sound clear...but then an idea hopped into my head!
"I want you to keep a close eye on Y/n...while I'm gone...you are the man of the house...don't fail me...you got that son...?"
Then he gave me that look...I'm worried he'll find out...
"Where are you going at this time?"
Damn it...Try to sound truthful....
"Don't worry about me son...your main focus is your sister..."
I placed a small kiss on his forehead and pat his shoulders.
Heading down the tower and took another glimpse of Alberto, looking around about...
"Addio bambini..."
And I'm off...off to a new start for myself...
(Alberto's POV)
It's been 5 days since we've last saw dad...on that day...the face he gave me...He looked almost disappointed in me...did he not like me...? Did he not want me..?
I clutched my fists and tried not to cry...was it all because of my voice...? Or is it just me being a terrible son...?!
Why isn't he coming back...?!
"A-Alberto...I-I'm getting hungry-"
"There's Food!!!" I gasped that that slipped out of my mouth...seeing my sister about to cry...
Oh no...
"Y/n I'm sorry...please don't cry...I'm so sorry..."
I rushed down to her to give her a big hug...
"Please don't cry guppy...big brother is sad..."
I tried to find as much food around the island...but soon for a few weeks...without starving to death...I decide to get actual fish...
It appears dad left us on our own...he really meant I was really the man of the house...
~~Back to Present Day~~
7 years later...Alberto has become a great fisher hunter...cooking food and keep a quick watch on Y/n, which he's proud to still be alive.
He turned to look at her sleepy face, pulling her close to his chest and took a last glimpse of the stars.
"Alberto...?"
"Yes...?"
Y/n looked up and smiled softly "Your the best brother ever..."
That is all what Alberto wanted to hear from someone so dearly to him...
If only their dad would see how much he approved as a family man...
