Somewhere in Nevada..
Sheriff rolled over on his side, closing his eyes trying to fall asleep. He felt exhausted just running his hand through his hair. Sleep never met with his conscience. He stayed up for a while, listening to the clock that was above his closed door tick; as the seconds passed. The ticking slowly came to a halt. Sheriff turned, looking over at his clock- the second hand was still circulating around, but no sound could be heard. There was a faint shadow of a figure- about the same size as Sheriff.
?) 'Do you blame yourself.?'
The shadow said. It's voice a low hush tone, that echoed around the room. It slowly slid towards Sheriff- gazing into him with its faceless expression. He stared at the weird shadow; it seemed to have the outline of Sheriffs plain outfit he was currently wearing.
Sheriff) What.?
Sheriff was confused- was this just a dream? His voice cracked.
?) 'Well it's quite common in this situation for a patient to feel a kind of.. guilt.'
Sheriff) What situation..?
The spirit-echo-shadow-thing stayed silent for a moment. Sheriff felt unease prick him.
