The episode starts at a camp called "Camp Wawanakwa," somewhere located at Muskoka, Ontario, where the host named Chris McLean introduces himself
(Chris): Yo, we're coming at you live from Camp Wawanakwa somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario, I'm your host, Chris McLean, dropping season one of the hottest reality show on television right now. Here's the deal. Twenty-two campers have signed up to spend eight weeks right here at this crummy old summer camp, they'll compete in challenges against each other then have to face the judgement of their fellow campers
He walks through a small area with tree stumps for seats that were facing a barrel
(Chris): Every three days, one team will either win a reward or watch one of their team members walk down the Dock of Shame, take a ride on the boat of losers
He walked up to a dock where the camera panned to a boat the camera looks back at him and he was laughing
(Chris): Leaving Total Drama Island for good. Their fate will be decided here at the dramatic campfire ceremonies where each week all but one camper will receive one marshmallow
Chris grabs a marshmallow with a stick, he eats it then he throws the stick away
(Chris): In the end, only one will be left standing and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame
(Chris): and a small fortune whch let's face it, they'll probably blow in a week
He holds up a treasure chest filled with gold coins
(Chris): To survive, they'll have to battle...
A bear tries to shoo some flies
(Chris): Black flies...
A grizzly bear's roaring could be heard making his grin widen
(Chris): Grizzly bears disgusting camp food and each other
A bird and her babies chirp or sing beside a camera

Chris tells the audience with a laugh as the first boat arrives
(Chris): Beth, what's up?
Beth excitedly runs off the boat and hugs Chris
(Beth): It's so incredulous to meet you!
She stepped back and noticed his height
(Beth): Wow, you're much shorter in real life
She turns and waves at the camera. Chris was not happy about her calling him short
(Chris): Uh, thanks...
Another boat arrives and a tall african-american steps off holding two suitcases
(Chris): DJ!
(DJ): Yo, Chris McLean, how's it going?
DJ high fived the host and look around noticing the island looked nothing like the application form he had read before signing his contract
(DJ): Hey, you sure you got the right place here? Where's the hot tub at?
DJ asks looking around in confusion
(Chris): Yo, dawg, this is it, Camp Wawanakwa
DJ lifts his luggage, he does not look happy
(DJ): Hmph, looked a lot different on the application form
Soon the next contestant arrives she looked like your stereotypical goth
(Chris): Hey, Gwen
Gwen looked at her surroundings and raised an eyebrow
(Gwen): You mean we're staying here?
Chris smiles
(Chris): No, your staying here, my crib is an airstream with AC that-a-way
He points to where he was staying Gwen saw it and was not happy
(Gwen): I did not sign up for this
Chris holds up a stack of papers grinning
(Chris): Actually, you did
Gwen grabs the papers and rips her contract. She looked at the host smirking
(Chris): The great thing about lawyers...
Chris pulls out more papers and smiled as Gwen's smirk disappeared
(Chris): ...They make lots of copies
Gwen glared and crossed her arms
(Gwen): I am not staying here
Gwen goes to leave
(Chris): That's cool, I hope you can swim though...
Gwen watched the boat she came in disappear into the horizon
(Chris): ...Because your ride just left
(Gwen): Jerk
Geoff arrives with party music playing it stopped as he hopped off the boat it instantly leaves he turns around waving. The driver waved back to him. He turns around and walks up to Chris
(Geoff): Chris McLean! 'Sup, man! It's an honor to meet you, man!
(Chris): The Geoff-Ster, welcome to the island, man
(Geoff): Thanks, man
Gwen was growing annoyed at their usage of the word man
(Gwen): If they say "man" one more time, I'm gonna puke
Gwen told DJ as Chris and Geoff high five
(Chris): Everybody, this is Lindsay
Pop music plays from her boat as Lindsay is introduced. Chris was looking her up and down
(Chris): Not to shabby
Chris stated with a grin Lindsay walks over and waves to everyone
(Lindsay): Hiiii! Okay, you look so familiar
She points at Chris tilting her head in confusion
(Chris): I'm Chris McLean...
Lindsay still looks confused. Chris frowns
(Chris): The host of the show
(Lindsay): Oh, so that's where I know you from!
Chris nodded as she walked past
(Chris): Uh, yeah
Heather arrives, with sunglasses on, she gives a look at the other contestants. She was not impressed with what she saw
(Chris): Heather
Beth ran over to Heather smiling
(Beth): Hi, looks like we're your new friends for the next eight weeks
She spits with every word, Heather looks disgusted. Rock guitar music plays. Duncan arrives placing his foot on a speaker. Duncan jumped off the boat and onto the dock he doesn't look happy
(Chris): Duncan, dude
(Duncan): I don't like surprises
Duncan glared in an attempt to intimidate him. Chris didn't seem too intimidated
(Chris): Yeah, your parole officer warned me about that, man, he also told me to give him a holler any time and have you return to juvie
Duncan sniffs and looks at Heather with a smirk
(Duncan): Okay, then. Meet you at the campfire, gorgeous
He said as he passed her
(Heather): Drop dead, you skeeze! I'm calling my parents, you cannot make me stay here!
Chris simply holds up Heather's contract which makes her quiet down for the moment. A horn honks showing that the next contestant Tyler he is water-skiing
(Chris): Ladies and gentlemen, Tyler!
Tyler slips and flies over the contestants, he crashes into the luggage
(Beth, DJ and Gwen): Ooh!
A piece of luggage falls and splashes into the water which makes Heather's hair wet and to make it worse the bag that fell in was hers and it was filled with her shoes
(Heather): Uhh, my shoes!
She shouts at Tyler clearly upset
(Chris): Wicked wipeout, man!
Tyler's hand comes out of the luggage and gives a thumbs up to Chris. DJ and Geoff grin also giving a thumbs up, Gwen crosses her arms. Chris giggles quietly. Suddenly Harold, holding a keyboard breathes loudly
(Chris): CHRIST! Gotta put a bell on you... Welcome to camp, Harold
Harold seemed to ignore his welcoming and was instead focusing on his surroundings
(Beth): What's he looking at?
She asked trying to follow his gaze
(Harold): So you mean this show is at a crappy summer camp and not on some big stage or something?
Chris nodded with a smile he couldn't wait to see Harold's disappointment
(Chris): You got it!
But to Chris's surprise Harold punches the air and smiles
(Harold): Yes! That is so much more favorable to my skills!
Harold walks past him as he does Chris shudders. Harold stands beside Geoff and Gwen, she is not happy he chose to stand next to her
(Chris): Contestant number nine is Kai!
Kai is seen wearing a backpack and held a case in his hand he hops off the boat and smiled. His hair was short and black. His red eyes while odd held a welcoming warmth
(Kai): Hey, good to meet you, man, saw you on that figure skating show, nice work, man
Kai walked over to the host and the two fist bumped. Chris smiled clearly happy that Kai knew about the figure skating show
(Chris): Hey, thanks, man. I knew I rocked that show!
(Beth): I saw that too! One of the guys dropped his partner on her head, so they got immunity that week
(Harold): Lucky, I hope I get dropped on my head
(Lindsay): Ooh! Me too!
Gwen looked at the three in genuine confusion. Kai takes a look around and is surprised to find that the island looked nothing like the ad said it would be
(Kai): So, this is it?
He watched Heather squeeze her hair to get rid of the water, and Harold picking his nose he tried to hide his disgust
(Kai): All right then...
Kai walks over to them he stood next to Gwen. Harold continues picking his nose, Kai smiles at Gwen. Gwen looks away from him, once Kai looked away she smiles at him. Bridgette arrives with her surfboard in hand
(Bridgette): Hey, what's up?
(Chris): Our surf chick, Bridgette is here
Duncan scoffed upon seeing her surfboard
(Duncan): Nice board, this ain't Malibu, honey
(Bridgette): I thought we were going to be on the beach
Chris nodded in confirmation
(Chris): We are
He pointed at the beach they could see a seagull with a six pack ring around it's neck and is submerged underwater by the waves. Bridgette sighs in dissapointment
(Bridgette): Great...
Her voice was laced with dissapointment
(Chris): All right, that makes-
Bridgette accidently knocks Chris with her surfboard
(Chris): Ow! Darn it, that hurts!
Bridgette walks over to the others
(Bridgette): Hey, guys
(Geoff): Hey, I'm Geoff
She turns to face Geoff almost hitting the boys in the process. They barely managed to duck down to avoid getting hit
(Bridgette): What's up?
(Harold): Dang, watch the board, man!
(Beth): Hi, I'm Beth!
Bridgette almost knocks the boys over turning to Beth. While the boys duck down trying to avoid getting hit once again
(Bridgette): Hey
Heather was annoyed by almost getting hit
(Heather): Okay, we've met Surfer Girl, can we get on the show, please?
Duncan smirked
(Duncan): Someone missed their cappuccino macchiato this morning
(Heather): Get bent!
The next camper arrived
(Chris): Our next camper is Noah
(Noah): You got my memo about my life-threatening allergies?
Chris shrugs
(Chris): Sure, someone did
Noah didn't really look too impressed by his response
(Noah): Great, is this where we're staying?
(Duncan): No It's your mother's house and we're throwing a party
He said while cracking his knuckles Noah rolls his eyes
(Noah): Cute, nice piercings, original, do them yourself?
Ducan grabbed Noah's bottom lip and pulled it out
(Duncan): Yeah, you want one?
He asked holding a needle
(Noah): Uh, no thanks, can I have my lips back?
Duncan lets go of Noah's lips
(Noah): Thanks
Leshawna arrives while waving
(Leshawna): What's up, y'all, Leshawna's in the house
Harold gasps
(Leshawna): Yo, baby, hey how you doing? How's it going?
She and Chris high five and she turns to look at the other contestants
(Leshawna): Feel free to quit now, save yourself the trouble 'cause I came to win! Oh what's up, my brother
She walked over to DJ and the two high five
(Leshawna): Give me some sugar, baby!
(Harold): I've never seen a girl like you before...
Leshawna raised an eyebrow in confusion not knowing how to react to what he said
(Leshawna): Excuse me?
(Harold): You're real big... And loud
Leshawna knew how to react now... With anger
(Leshawna): WHAT DID YOU SAY TO ME, OH NO YOU DIDN'T!
Gwen and Kai look shocked as she walks over to him
(Leshawna): YOU HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING YET!
Harold defends himself with some of his karate skills, Kai and DJ try to stop her
(Leshawna): I'LL SHOW YOU BIG, BABY!
Harold makes karate sounds while karate music is heard in the background
(Leshawna): OH YEAH, YOU WANT SOME OF THIS? WELL, COME ON THEN!
Chris smiled at the chaos unfolding before him
(Chris): All right, campers, settle down!
Kai and DJ let go of Leshawna as she calms down, Harold smiles at her, Katie and Sadie arrive
(Chris): Ladies, Sadie, Katie, welcome to your new home for eight weeks!
The scene shows a crummy old cabin house where flies are heard buzzing
(Katie): Oh my gosh, Sadie, look, it's a summer camp!
(Sadie): Okay, I always wanted to go to a summer camp. Eeeeeee!
The girls grab their bags and run happily. Chris looks unsure he quickly notices Ezekiel's arrival
(Chris): Ezekiel! What's up, man?
Ezekiel looks up and points into the sky
(Ezekiel): I think I see a bird
Kai raised an eyebrow in confusion
(Chris): Okay, look, dude, I know you don't get out much, been homeschooled your whole life raised by freaky prairie people, just don't say much and try not to get kicked off too early, okay.
Ezekiel saluted
(Ezekiel): Yes, sir
(Gwen): That's just...Wow.
The next camper left the boat grinning this showed off a gap in his teeth
(Chris): Cody, the Code-ster, the Code-Meister!
He and Cody high five
(Cody): Dude psyched to be here, man. I see ladies have already arrived, all right
Cody slowly walks past the ladies grinning. He tries to say something to Leshawna, but Leshawna raised her hand
(Leshawna): Save it, short stuff
Eva arrives her boat played death metal
(Chris): Eva. Nice, glad you could make it
Cody tries to high five Eva, but she drops her bags one of them landed on Cody's foot
(Cody): Ow! What's in there, dumbbells?
(Eva): Yes
Duncan nudges DJ
(Duncan): She's all yours, man
Once Cody recovered he walked over to the others standing next to Kai
(Cody): Hey there... Uh?
(Kai): My names Kai good to meet you man
Cody nodded back and was about to continue the conversation but was cut off by a yell
(Owen): Wooooooooooohooooooooooooo! Chris! What's happenin'?!
He laughed
(Owen): This is awesome! Woooooohoooo!
(Chris): Owen! Welcome!
Owen picks up Chris and pulls him into a hug
(Owen): Awesome to be here, man! Man, this is so...
(Gwen): Awesome?
Gwen cuts in guessing what he was going to say
(Owen): Yes! Awesome, woohoo! Are you going to be on my team?
Gwen rolls her eyes
(Gwen): I sure hope so
(Owen): Woooooooo!
Owen cheers not hearing Gwen's sarcasm
(Chris): You about finished?
(Owen): Sorry, dude, I'm just so psyched!
(Chris): Cool, and here comes Courtney
Courtney arrives and waves, Chris gives her a hand helping her off the boat
(Courtney): Thank you. Hi, you must be the other contestants, It's really nice to meet you all.
Owen shook Courtney's hand
(Owen): Hey hows it going? I'm Owen
Courtney smiled at Owen's enthusiasm
(Courtney): Nice to meet you... ohhhh wow...
She notices something that made everyone look over and saw the next contestant arrive. It was Justin with his pretty looks. Everyone had various reactions to Justin. The girls and Owen stared at his good looks. Justin smiles at the audience. Sadie faints, Eva swoons
(Chris): Everyone, this is Justin. Welcome to Total Drama Island
He and Justin fist bump
(Justin): Thanks, Chris, this is great
(Chris): Just so you know we picked you based entirely on looks
Justin nodded not losing his smile
(Justin): I can deal with that
He walks to the others
(Owen): I like you're pants
Justin continued to smile at Owen
(Justin): Thanks, man
(Owen): 'Cause they look like they're all worn out did you buy them like that?
Everyone stares at Justin swooning. Justin started to wonder why Owen was obsessed with his pants
(Justin): Uh, no, just had them for a while
(Owen): Oh, cool...
He smacks his forehead
(Owen): Stupid!
Izzy is standing on the edge of her boat
(Chris): Hey, everyone, Izzy!
(Izzy): Hi, Chris! Hi! Whoa!
She trips and hits her chin on the dock
(Tyler): Oooooh, that was bad!
He laughed as Courtney runs to help Izzy
(Courtney): Guys, she could be seriously hurt!
She helps Izzy up. She shakes her hair to dry her soaked hair
(Izzy): That felt so good, except for hitting my chin This is summer camp? This is so cool, do you have paper Mache? Are we having lunch soon?
Owen points at Izzy
(Owen): That is a good call!
(Chris): First things first, we need a group photo for the promos, everyone on the end of the dock
The twenty-two contestants walk there. Chris jumps onto the boat
(Chris): One, two, three...
A snap sound is heard
(Chris): Forgot the lens cap
He takes the lens cap off
(Chris): Okay, hold that pose. One, tw- Oh no, wait, cards full. Hang on
Leshawna rolls her eyes
(Leshawna): Come on, man, my face is starting to freeze
(Chris): Got it. Okay, everyone say "Wawanakwa!"
(Twenty-two Campers): Wawanakwa!
Suddenly, the dock collaspes, the picture is taken, the picture shows the campers almost drowning and swimming for their life
(Chris): Okay, guys, dry off and meet at the campfire pit in ten

The episode continues where Chris and the campers are at the campfire pit
(Chris): This is Camp Wawanakwa, your home for the next eight weeks. The campers sitting around you will be your cabin mates, your competition and maybe even your friends. You dig?
Harold smiles at Duncan. Duncan threatens Harold by raising his fist
(Chris): The camper who manages to stay on Total Drama Island the longest without getting voted off will win $100,000!
(Duncan): Excuse me what will the sleeping arrangements be? Because I'd like to request a bunk under her
Duncan pointed at Heather who looked disgusted
(Heather): They're not co-ed, are they?
(Chris): Noooo. Girls get one side of each cabin and dudes get the other
(Lindsay): Excuse me, Kyle. Can I have a cabin with the lake view since I'm the prettiest?
(Chris): Okay, you are. But that's not really how it works here. And it's Chris
(Katie): I have to live with Sadie or, I'll die!
(Sadie): And I'll break out in hives. It's true!
Gwen sighs

He throws a rolled up green flag which Owen caught and it unfolded showing a gopher screaming acting like it was in a boxing match

Heather peaks into the girls half of the Gophers cabin
(Heather): Bunk Beds? Isn't that a little summer camp?
Gwen rolls her eyes
(Gwen): That's the idea, genius
(Heather): Shut up, weird goth girl
(Cody): You're so smart, I feel that!
Gwen and Heather pause and saw Cody in the wrong side of the cabin leaning on a wall smiling

Cody flies from the girls cabin, he is thrown by Gwen and Heather. Off-screen, a loud crash is heard
(Lindsay): Where are the outlets? I have to plug in my straightening iron
Lindsay asked having looked around the cabin multiple times
(Chris): There are some in the communal bathrooms. Just across that way
Chris points at the communal bathrooms

The boys were unpacking
(Owen): I'm glad we're in our own cabin with just guys. Know what I mean?
He laughs as Noah and Justin look annoyed by this. His eyes widen as the realisation of what he said hit him

He laughed nervously
(Owen): I just don't wanna sleep near them. I mean-

Geoff stuck his head outside his cabin
(Geoff): Excuse me, Chris? Is there, uh, a chaperone of any kind in this facility here?
(Chris): You're all 16 years old, as old as a counselor in training at a regular summer camp. So other than myself. You'll be unsupervised. You've got half an hour to unpack and meet me back at the main lodge, starting... Now
Geoff gave Chris a thumbs up
(Geoff): Nice!
Lindsay screams causing people to go into the Gophers cabin and see what was going on
(Leshawna): Man that white girl can scream
(Lindsay): What is it? Kill it, kill it!
Lindsay was pointing at a cockroach DJ gasps and then screams like a girl he jumps onto a bed crushing the bunk
(Gwen): That... Was my bed
The campers scream and attempt to squish it. Duncan walks in and raises an axe cutting it in half
(Kai): Well, that's one way to kill a cockroach
Kai commented as he watched from the outside
(Harold): Awesome
Tyler looked at the scared Lindsay
(Tyler): If you ever see one of those again, just let me know, 'kay? Cause, you know, I can do that too
Lindsay and Tyler smile at each other. Duncan shook his head as he watches the two

The scene cuts to the campers inside the cafeteria where the cook named Chef Hatchet is serving lunch to the campers
(Chef): Listen up! I serve it three times a day and you'll eat it three times a day! Grab a tray, get your food, and sit your butts down NOW!
(Beth): Excuse me, but will we be getting all the major food groups?
(Harold): Yeah, cause I get hypoglycemic real bad if I don't get enough sugar
(Chef): You'll get a whole lot of SHUT THE HECK UP!!!
(Owen): Have a cow
He whispered to Noah who smirked
(Chef): What was that?! Come closer, fat boy! I didn't hear you!
(Owen): Oh, I didn't really say anything important!
Owen shouted looking nervous
(Chef): I'm sure you didn't! You! Scrawny kid, give me your plate
He snatches Noah's plate and puts extra food on it. Leshawna tried talking to Eva who was in front of her

Eva blinks at her and ignores hers

(Lindsay): Excuse me my nutritionist says I shouldn't eat any white sugar, white flour, or like dairy
Chef crushes a fly and puts it in her meal
(Gwen): I don't think that's gonna be a problem
She noticed her sandwich move

She left to go find a table and eat
(Gwen): Okay, I hate to be predictable and complain on the first day but I think mine just moved
Chef looks at her in the eyes and whacks her meal with a hammer
(Gwen): Right. Okay, then...
She watched it slither and left. Kai held out his plate as Chef put lunch on it
(Kai): Thanks
Chef nodded as Kai took a seat next to Duncan. Kai stared at the food and shrugged taking a bite. His eyes widen
(Kai): This is... Incredible!
Kai continued eating the food as those around him stared at Kai in shock

Chef throws a cleaver barely missing Geoff's hand he jumps back
(Geoff): Whoa! Its' cool G! Brown slop is cool! Right guys?
Campers nod in agreement as Kai got seconds which Chef gave him more
(Chris): Your first challenge begins, in one hour! I suggest wearing some swimmers
He states while walking out
(Katie): What do you think they'll make us do?
She asked DJ nervously
